Take the winding 9km drive through the hills to Wainui, it is worth it. Register
at the main office, then take the second gate on your right, this area is set aside
for casual campers: the main part of the camp is for organized groups. Here
there is a pleasant tenting area surrounded by trees with some sites on the
riverbank, where you can listen to the birds singing and the crickets chirping. It
is serviced by a small number of facilities and a kitchen. There are three levels
of camping and three power sites - you may need a long lead. Tent sites from
$15 per adult plus extra $10 per site for power (min charge $20 per site). The
manager is Mike Linton.

Note that this camp does not offer camping to general campers. The facilities offered at this camp are for school parties ONLY. Please do not request a campsite if you are not in a school party.

Although this is in pine tree country, the camp is on an open paddock with
only an occasional tree for shade. Badly in need of an upgrade, It is a quiet
rural situation with 12 power sites and plenty of room for tents. There is a
homely kitchen with a mini dining area and all appliances, plus cooking and
eating utensils. The few showers are roomy and cost $2, and a small laundry
houses an auto washing machine. The toilets (a public facility) are separate and
not very clean. There are two adjacent hard tennis courts and a bowling green,
with a golf course nearby. Lynley Wright is the caretaker. Tent sites are $8 per
person or with power they are $12 per person, children under 13 years are
$6. Dogs permitted, must be on a lead at all times.

This is now the Workotel Riccarton.

  With its large and spacious grounds, the pine trees that surround it, and the
many shade trees, this campground has a peacefulness about it.  Only half
an hour from Christchurch, you don't have to go far to get away. As you
drive through the camp on the sealed roads, the funky wooden people signs
will help you navigate your way around the masses of campsites amongst
large trees. Tidy, clean ablution blocks are scattered throughout the camp, all
have disability facilities. There are two clean and tidy kitchens, one featuring
a recycled timber bench top, there is also covered outside dining provided.
Auto machines and dryers are available in the laundries and a dump station
is available. Children will enjoy the adventure playgrounds, the room to bike
around, and swimming at the safe beach just over the dunes. Jan Reid is your
friendly host. Power sites $34 for two adulst, $7 for a child, unpowered sites
$15 for an adult, $7 for a child.

This camp is on the outskirts of Winton and edges the Winton Golf Course.
There are endless tent sites and six power sites on grass/gravel stands, campers may use the club facilities which include lovely old fashioned but clean toilets, a shower, but no kitchen. There is, however, a washing machine. If the caretaker isn’t around, there is an honesty box for fees, $20 powered, $15 unpowered per site per night. Showers are available for $2.

A small, intimate campground, two minutes walk from where the Waitahanui
Trout fishing stream enters Lake Taupo. Campervan-friendly all year round
with 12 powered sites and several unpowered. Well-used camp amenities
include a kitchen with all the basics, free showers, toilets and a laundry. Your
hosts Richard and Sandy are to be found running the adjoining local dairy that
offers food, supplies and postal services. As this is ‘fisherfolk heaven’, you can
hire rods and waders and purchase tackle from them as well. Fish cleaning
and smoking facilities are provided. Campervan sites are from $35 for two.

Camp on spacious grassy lawns with a border of trees in this basic domain
style campground. The three unisex showers are generously sized and toilets
are basic but clean, while the small kitchen/dining is cosy and has modern
appliances. There are two laundries with auto washing machines, and a large
common room available with TV and some seating. Gary and Roslyn have
taken over the lease of this camp and have plans for upgrades. A modest little
stopover at $14 for two people for a tent site, or $16 with power, and extra
adult is $5, children 5-16 years are $3, under five are free. Minimum charges

A great spot to ‘fritter’ away some time, this simple little holiday camp is on a
terrace above the beach and picturesque Mokau River mouth. You’ll find cosy
camping at the rear of the café on 20 immaculate, level, lawn sites - all enclosed
with sheltering trees. Your hosts at the Inn sell groceries, cabinet food and meals.
Some postal facilities are also available. The camp kitchen is roomy with plenty
of appliances, some cookware and crockery. A pleasant TV lounge has a stash of
reading material. Clean showers and toilets include a disabled access unit and
the laundry facilities have coin-operated washing machines. Hosts are Clare and
Dave. A powered site will cost $15 per person per night. Non powered sites

Very well sign posted off S Hwy 10. This camp is nestled between some sheltering hills but has easy, level, shady or sunny sites. A lovely bay is immediately opposite the camp. Only a short drive to get supplies. The central amenities block has a well-kept new kitchen, with microwave, hotplate cooking, fridge and a TV. Nestled into a ferned rockery are picnic tables in a canopied BBQ garden. The ablutions were built for comfort, but have meters to conserve water. There are both single-sex appointments and a familysize wheelchair-friendly suite. The laundry has automatic washing machines and dryers, with freezer space too. During the peak season, each evening, takeaway meals are available only 5 minutes away. Get dive air fills here. Adump point is provided. Tours and charter boats can be arranged from here. Prices are from $25 per adult on all sites. Concessions for weekly rates from May - October (does notinclude public holidays.)

An historic coastal wilderness camp, accessible from Auckland via Titirangi and
Huia, and within the bounds of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. Turn
right at Little Huia, and follow the winding road (partly unsealed) that leads
to Whatipu Lodge. Apart from the guest accommodation there is lots of
space, no trees, and no power for the intrepid camper. You will have to be
independent, as a minimal number of cold-water showers and toilets are the
only camp amenities. Preferably bring your own drinking water. Fishing and
walks are the major attraction here. Petrol is a 20 km drive away. Your host
is Wayne. Camping will cost you $7.50 per person per night and $20 for a
family up to 5 people per night (max 6.5m motorhomes to negotiate the gate
to the camping grounds)

At the top of the West Coast, and not far from Farewell Spit, is this ecofriendly
camp set amongst rural farmland. There are eight sites with power around the
landscaped grounds, plus plenty of tent sites. A nice main building houses a
large kitchen with gas hobs and other facilities, plus a spacious dining area with
a large polished wooden slab table as it's focal point. There is also a pool table
in this area as well as an outside covered deck with sofas and chairs, and a view
to the surrounding countryside. Unisex ablutions have large coin-operated
gas heated showers ($2 for 5 minutes) and an equally large disability suite.
The laundry has auto machines and there is a children’s playground. Take a 20
minute walk to Wharariki Beach, which is famous for its sunsets, and you may
be lucky enough to see seals, and seal pups basking and swimming here too. A
gorgeous tree enclosed café is on the edge of the camp, and numerous walks
are close by. Stock up at Collingwood on the way as there are no shops here.
A site will cost you $18 per person, and if you want power it is an extra $5.

This tranquil waterfront camp is neat as a new pin, with modern amenities and
its own water treatment station. There are 93 level sites, all with power. The
waters-edge sites are very popular and the harbour beach offers safe swimming.
There are two separate small kitchens with hotplates and microwave cooking,
and fridge/freezers. The games room (with viewing decks to the harbour) has
a nice covered BBQ area annexed. The ablutions have two excellent disabled
facilities, a corridor of toilets and unisex showers. There is a new mothers
room designed so baby can be bathed and changed easily nad safely. The
laundry has good automatic equipment. Internet access is available. Plenty to
keep you occupied here, swimming, fishing, bushwalks, and Kayaks Goat Island
trips, Matakana markets and many other activities. Including a major Petanque
tournament at Easter. Excellent housekeeping here by your resident hosts,
Stan & Bridget. No animals please. Sites are $18 to $22 per person.

Over the hill at the end of the road, overlooking beautiful Parutahi Bay. The
camping area is mostly flat, on varying grassy levels climbing slightly to the
rear, where there is a communal amenities building. The camp is right on the
beach front and well looked after. The ablutions are clean and tidy and the
laundry has washers and dryers. The kitchen is clean and has all you need. A
fish cleaning bench and a boat wash are provided and kayaks may be hired.
Bait and ice are available at the office that is shared with a shop, and stocks overnight essentials. All sites are $17 per person, $10 a child. Seasonal rates apply.

Just a short hop from the intersection dividing Kaeo from Whangaroa, this
is a quiet, well-groomed pretty little retreat on the upper reaches of the
Whangaroa harbour. The grounds have 40 sites, well-wooded and sheltered,
and surrounded by native bush-clad hills. The amenities are modern with a
well-equipped kitchen and an adjoining glass screened area for casual meals.
This has a TV. There are excellent shower cubicles and automatic equipment
in the laundry. Two small indoor pools (one hot, one cold). This is a favourite
spot for fishing. Try your hand at catching marlin, or hire boats and dive gear. Camp sites are from $20 per person plus an extra $4 for power. Your host

Beside well-forested Mair Park, enjoy secluded sites, handy to town. A superette is
nearby. The grounds are well manicured and the fully tiled amenities block is centred
in the park. The kitchen is well equipped, including a range of cooking appliances.
The ablutions have been recently renovated to an excellent standard. A disability
suite is designed for easy access. In the laundry are excellent automatic machines,
plus ironing table. There is a small playground for the kids and a comfortable TV room offers cosy relaxation. Plenty of taps, outdoor lighting, a car wash and a
dump station here. Coin and wireless Internet are available. Your hosts are
Kevin and Linda Lloyd. All sites are from $22 per person, including some allweather
van sites.

Look for the big bright roadside sign on the main Whangarei to Tutukaka Road. Located a stone_s throw from Whangarei Falls and close to local orchards, this camp is laid out in treed bays around the services. Centrally placed is a good size round swimming pool, a gazebo style spa pool, shower blocks, separate toilet blocks, a kitchen and laundry. The kitchen has all cooking facilities including utensils. A help-yourself herb garden is a bonus. The showers are clean, with plentiful hot water. Automatic machines, (plus a hairdryer, mirror, and ironing board) are in the laundry. A large alfresco dining area is most appealing. The lounge is divided, one area to spend a quiet time with the Internet or reading a selection of books from the extensive library and the other has an adjacent attractive TV lounge with big comfy chairs. This is a small but well sheltered camp with some private sites. The housekeeping is excellent. Ask about diving at the Poor Knights or take in some of the good walks in the area. Close by are Whangarei Falls and the Canopy circle where you can see some mighty kauri trees. Your friendly hosts are Graham and Alison. All sites are from $18 per person, $9 for children.

A few minutes walk to Whangarei city, very handy to shops and services.
A pedestrian bridge at the rear provides easy access to some local shops
although the camp store is well stocked. A choice of paved or lawn parking
for campervans is serviced by a wheelchair-friendly ablution block and dump
stations. The main amenities building has a ‘focal point’ kitchen, well equipped
and clean, that now opens to an eating area and comfortable lounge that has
easy chairs, TV, books, a phone and there is a playground for the kids. The
ablutions have well maintained showers. There is a good modern laundry.
Very big shady trees will protect you and the family from the worst of the heat.
A coin phone and internet facility are available, plus free use of the BBQ. Sites
at the back are occupied long term. All campsites are $18 per person. Pets

This holiday park is on the site of the old Whangapoua Forestry Headquarters.
It Is located at the top of the Whangapoua Harbour on a large area of flat
rural land. Just beyond the harbour is the iconic Whangapoua Beach and the
stunning world renowned New Chum Beach.The beach has been voted “one
of the top twenty beaches In the world and is an unspoilt paradise accessible
only by foot. Matarangi Beach and two boat ramps are within 10km radius
and there is a café just 200m from the park. No dogs are permitted. The
park is within the Whangapoua Kiwi Habitat zone. A restored modern clean
kitchen has a large sun deck There is an ablution block complete with hot
water showers, toilets and laundry facilities. The camping area is large and flat
so can easily cater for large vehicles. Fresh water is available, wifi available, and
new playground has just been installed. The camp is 6km from the beginning

Follow the lamppost signs dotted along the main routes leading into this beach suburb of Castlecliff 7km from the city centre and right beside the Castlecliff Coast Reserve and two minutes walk to the beach. The campground has very tidy, mature grounds, a small swimming pool, and a sauna. All amenities are spotlessly clean. There is an indoor kitchen, dining room and lounge, and a lovely outdoor cooking, BBQ and dining area, complete with outdoor fireplace. There's even a mini herb garden. This is a lovely little seaside camp with a modern twist. Creatively landscaped, the feature central outdoor dining/BBQ and entertainment complex, is complete with open fireplace, sauna and sparkling swimming pool. Relax to the roar of the waves from one of 40 sites (32 with power). The kids are well-catered for with playground and safe beach swimming nearby. Follow the river upstream from the city for about 7 km where you’ll find mature,
landscaped grounds with many gracious trees. Enjoy riverside family camping
with all the extras at this great location. Family-friendly features include the
heated swimming pool and patio area, spa pool, jumping pillow, playgrounds,
wireless hotspot, internet kiosks and games room - or you can make use of
the range of entertainment activities/equipment for hire on-site (e.g, trikes and
kayaks). Take a river cruise or launch your boat from the boat ramp. Choose
from a variety of sites on different levels, some with river frontage (54 sites
have power and there are 100 for tents). The centrally situated amenities

300m uphill from the intersection in the village of Pipiriki turn in to the main Whanganui River Adventure property. This is a commercial jet boat and canoe business run by Ken and Josephine Haworth. There is a large fairly flat area for camping. Simple toilet and kitchen facilities available, some provisions and snacks for sale and hot food prepared to order. It is a short walk to the Whanganui River and walks through the native bush. Ideal for self contained campers. They have hot and cold food and drinks available also.

Midway between Taumarunui and Stratford lies what the locals like to refer to
as the republic of Whangamomona (declared in 1988). The village is in the
remote heart of the Forgotten World Highway and has recently become a
destination for tourist travelling in modern railway carts on the old Stratford - Ohahukura
line. This simple campsite is in the old school grounds, with
camping on a paddock with a dividing hedge and some perimeter shade trees.
Being such a small place, the camp is close to the action (i.e. the village hotel!)
An old kitchen and laundry are provided. Please cash only.

This long-established beach camp is close to 'surf-capital' Whangamata's shopping centre and just 100m from the beach. Intimacy with your neighbour is almost guaranteed in summer with the close proximity of the sites and there are plenty of permanent _weekenders_ in place. Casual campers have good practical amenities spread across three blocks. The large open-plan kitchen has all the essentials; the ablutions have tidy metered showers and there are outdoor (cold) _swim_ showers. There is also a large, well-loved, TV and games room. An automatic laundry, boat wash and dump point are provided. In the peak summer period, you can enjoy organised family entertainment, and there is an on-site general store with a phone. Your hosts are Ann and Mick Brien. Pets are by arrangement only.

Only in use for campers in the school holidays and weekends, you’ll find level
sites and some shady trees here. There is excellent child safe play equipment
for children and use of a tennis court. The harbour estuary is easily accessible.
There are no sites with power and no hot water but stalls for solar showers.
Facilities are limited to toilets and hand basins. There is a tennis court available
for a game, payment by a donation. No smoking and no dogs please. Check
availability at Xmas. Tent sites are $10 per person, children $5 up to 15 years.

The entrance to Whananaki North Holiday Park is just before the local general store. This shop is well stocked, plus you can get dive tank fills. The level camp grounds extend to a safe harbour estuary at the back and also have a rural outlook. The trees and gardens offer shady spots. The modern communal building houses a roomy kitchen with small appliances for cooking and a fridge and freezer. Outside there is a gas BBQ with pizza oven and smoker with plenty of dining room under the pergola. You may be tempted to cool off in the swimming pool. The roomy ablutions are very clean with metered showers, liquid soap and hand dryers The laundry has an automatic washers and dryers. There are 28 power sites and 16 non powered sites, all with taps, and plenty of room for tents. Pet friendly by arrangement. Take a walk on the longest footbridge in the southern hemisphere from here to Whananaki South. The Camp is on the Te Araroa walk trail. Your welcoming hosts are Matthew and Tracy. Sites are $15 per person, non-powered and $18 per person powered.

There_s no passing traffic at this level, riverside camping ground that_s an ideal home-base for fishing trips. There are 70 sites with power, water and drainage, plus 40 tent sites across mature grounds peppered with willow trees. A substantial flood bank separates the park from the Whakatane River and it_s a 5 minute, riverside walk into town. There_s plenty of room for the kids to play, and an outdoor seasonal swimming pool. Internet access is in a wee _techno-caravan_. The roomy kitchen provides ample appliances and dining space, with a TV lounge and new, covered eatery next door. The main ablution block is clean and well presented, or you can experience vintage _kiwiana_ in the two other blocks! An automatic laundry and dump point are provided. Your friendly host is Noel. Situated in the heart of Whakapapa Village on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu, this
compact alpine park is nestled amongst mountain beech forest and a haven for
outdoor lovers. The sites are very appealing, each tucked into the bush with
space and privacy and the soothing sound of an alpine stream. A perfect base
for exploring the park, it offers 44 powered sites and around 8 tent sites. The
well-used amenities building is centrally located, with a fully-equipped kitchen
and dining facilities, a laundry and a drying room, but no recreation room. The
Whakapapa Store is open daily and meals and other services are close by. As
this is a National Park, no pets are permitted. A dump point is provided. Your
host is Garth and his team. All sites $17 per adult. Bookings are essential.

Once on Waiheke, there are public transport options from the main ferry
terminal which stops at Gordons Road. The campground is at the south
end of the beach and has toilets, cold water taps and a couple of gas-fired
barbecues that can be used free of charge. The area stretches back from the
beachfront and careful tree planting has created an appealing array of secluded
and sheltered camping spots. Animals and fires are prohibited. Sites are $13
for adults and $6 for children. There is a designated area for self-contained
vehicles at $6. Annual passes are available.

A sheltered camp where pockets of bush form natural barriers between
grouped sites, offering an away-from-it-all environment that has wekas in
residence. This camp is set up with families in mind, as you enter the camp
you will see the mini golf course where you can take some shots. there
is also a great children’s playground, and parents can watch from the new
outside deck and covered BBQ area. Plenty of room for all, there are 65
sites with power, plus numerous tent sites. The bright sunny kitchen, with
stove and fridge and all other amenities, is alongside a large TV/social room
with internet access. The smart ablutions have roomy showers, a child’s bath,
and dressing space with a seat, while all laundry facilities are automatic and
plentiful. A pleasant leafy retreat, brim-full of birdlife with an aviary for the
bird fanciers and chooks to feed. Wifi is available for a small fee, there is a free
carwash available too. Your friendly hosts are Roger and Margaret.

This urban park is predominantly flat and provides row-upon-row of small
caravans and cabins for its semi-permanent residents. Casual travellers should
expect little holiday atmosphere here. A key-access barrier arm controls the
camp entrance, with 24-hour security provided. The usual camping amenities
have two well-loved ablution blocks (clean and tidy), an automatic laundry, and
a kitchen with a good variety of cooking equipment. Pets by arrangement.

for two for tents, or power $25 for 2 people. Minimum charges apply. Not

Wenderholm is alongside a stunning beach at the mouth of the Puhoi River.
Its prime purpose is for day visitors, although an area is set aside for camping.
You will have a nice level site between the mangroves and the (fenced) sheep
paddock. There are taps and a long drop. There are bush walks within the
park notable for their native flora and fauna. No dogs or fires are permitted.
Charges are $13 per adult, $6 per child. There is a designated area for selfcontained
vehicles for $6 and $4 for adults and children respectively. Annual
passes are available for non-peak period camping. There are no rubbish bins
provided, so be prepared to take out all rubbish when you leave.

Take the Petone exit off SHwy 2 and follow the blue TransitNZ camp signs.
Don’t be put off by the industrial suburb approach to this camp, as the
immaculate grounds are shaded by established pohutakawa trees and have
views of the bush-clad ranges. There are both grass and hardstand sites for
mobile homes,125 powered sites and 60 tent sites. Spacious grounds boast
a well-equipped adventure playground with a huge jumping pillow for the kids.

There are 3 good kitchens with dining halls and fridge lockers that can be hired.
Amenities include spacious toilets, showers and disabled access facilities, with
2 family bathrooms and 3 coin-operated automatic laundries. Along with
the spa, Sky TV room and new outdoor BBQ area, the games room will be a
hit with the kids, with a pool table, air hockey, table tennis, video game arcade
machines and internet access. This should keep happy campers entertained
for hours. A dump station is provided. Your hosts are Allen and Sue. All
sites are $50 for two people, $20 each extra person. There is a $35 minimum
site charge.

On the Hutt River in northern Upper Hutt, the Wellington Kiwi Holiday Park is ideal for relaxing and listening to the birdsong, or for outdoor activities. Trout fishing, bush walks, mountain biking on the world-class Karapoti circuit, and golfing are all nearby. Visit the Efil Doog gardens or Staglands Wildlife Reserve. Stay in one of the modern, clean motels, tourist flats or cabins or bring your tent or campervan and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Just off the beaten track, at the Welcome Bay roundabout (SHwy 29), head
east for 4 km to the rural outskirts. Handy to the shopping centre, the camp
is alongside a sparkling, natural thermal pool complex (fed from a deep bore and emptied and cleaned daily) which is available free to campers. At the shop/offce you can buy ice creams and drinks. The compact campsite is set
in a secluded dell, with a bush backdrop and newly extended and refurbished amenities. There’s a modern, well-equipped kitchen, unisex toilets and singlesex showers, a new covered outdoor dining area, plus an automatic laundry.
It’s a short drive to Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. Your friendly hosts are
Fraser Berkett and Christine MacKay. There are 25 sites, costing $45 for 2
people.

This camp is easily accessible in a level garden setting, and is only 6kms from Havelock. The ablution facilities are first class, with a disability unit, and the kitchen is excellent with a covered outside dining BBQ area. A good laundry and a comfortable TV and games room are provided in the 'Deadwood Saloon'. Trampoline and volleyball are available, the local river is good for trout fishing and many activities can be accessed from Havelock including the mail boat run. An 8 km drive through coastal dairy country from SHwy 3 at Waverly leads to
this pleasant rustic camp just over the dunes from the beach. Local attractions nearby are ‘Cave Rock’ and fishing. The 28 powered sites are on a grassy paddock edged with flaxes, leaving plenty of room for tents. To the rear of the camp is a great playground for the kids. The main building includes a
serviceable kitchen and a simple recreation/dining hall and there are outdoor wood BBQs. The older-style ablutions are tidy and kept locked when there are no guests.

The code to access facilities can be obtained from the Waverley LibraryPlus office 9 - 5 Monday to Friday and Saturdays 9.30am - 12pm where camp fees are also paid. $15 per night per powered site or $10 for tents (this covers 2 adults and 2 children on a site).

Watson's Way Lodge is nestled in a secluded garden in Renwick, 10 minutes from Blenheim. Located in the heart of Marlborough's wine area, you are invited to relax in one of the double en-suite rooms, dorms or camp out in your van or tent.

An attractive park 3km along the Wanaka-Mt Aspiring Road where 100 camping sites are terraced and sheltered by tree belts around the outside. Powered sites are on a hard stand, with a small grassed area and picnic table for each site, and the top sites have a wonderful view and a clean and modern kitchen with plenty of cooking appliances, fridges and TV. Down one level is the recreation room, with internet and a lounging deck so you can watch the children as they swim in the pool that comes complete with 3 slides and a balancing beam. More amenities are provided on a lower level where a little area is set aside for tents, with plenty of sunny sites. There are automatic machines in the laundry and a drying room for use in the ski season. There are two BBQ facilities in the camp, one on each level. There is also an indoor spa pool and a dump point here, and you can pick up a ski bus at the gate. Your hosts are Tracey and Patrick Perkins. From this large camping complex, you can walk to Wanaka township, and
just see the lake through the trees. Over 200 sites are placed underneath
large pine trees, and some weeping willows, and some are in the open.
While the main amenities block has a large kitchen with plenty of cooking
appliances, a fridge and TV, there is also space to socialise while fixing dinner.
There are showers in the ablution blocks and the well-equipped laundry
has banks of automatic machines and a drying room. Extra amenities are
available at peak times. There is a playground and ‘safe swimming down at
the lake, and squash/tennis courts next door. The public dump station is
at the front gate, and your host is Aggi Sanders. All sites $19 per person.

Nestled above Wanaka township, and with lovely views of the hills and the lake, is this immaculately set out camp ground. Take the road to Mt Aspiring/Glendhu Bay for 2kms then turn left onto Studholme Road North (make sure you dont take Studholme South). This camp is ideal for skiers and summer visitors alike as it is well set up with just about everything you could need. With its landscaped grounds and large established shade trees, this camp gets lovely sun all day, and enjoys great mountain views. Plentiful ablutions (with under floor heating), good kitchen, the lounge has a wood burner and Sky TV. There is a children's playground here and a covered BBQ area. For the skier, a workshop and safe storage for ski-gear, and enjoy a soak in the two hot spas and/or the sauna. Motorhome sites are all on hard stands and spacious, some tent sites are also available. With renovations and upgrades every year, and spotless presentation, this is a camp you will want to stay at. Everything you need is included in the price (except for laundry facilities), even unlimited wifi and a car wash. About 6 km south of Waiouru, turn west off SHwy 1 towards Rangiwaea
Junction. About 20 minutes drive along this road you’ll fnd the established
gardens at Wakarua Farm. Visit here in the spring for the beauty of the
gardens, but don’t expect a full-on holiday camp. Limited provision has been
made for mobile homes with 5 powered sites (tents are also welcome). There
is a toilet and shower attached to the farmhouse but no kitchen facilities. For

Waiwhenua Farmstay situated on the banks of the Tutaekuri River less than an hours drive west of Napier and Hastings. A short wind down through the farm and bush to the secluded river section with plenty of shade and shelter from the wind, right on the banks of the river. Limited freedom sites are also available for the casual overnight visitor. RV and car access is limited to the summer dry season however 4WD or AWD are recommended. The amenities include cold water taps, cold, or hot solar showers, gas camp cooking facilities, firewood, fire pits, long drop toilets, and bedding packs, plus a herb garden are available. You can hire, small tents, gazebos, and an outdoor bush bath. The full site can be booked for events and celebrations. To avoid disappointment bookings are recommended as sites are limited. Right in the heart of Waitomo Village, very close to the caves, this park offers amphitheatre-style camping across a series of large sunny terraces. A bar and cafe/restaurant is on-site, with the main village amenities just across the road. The central, modern, facilities block enjoys a pleasant rural valley outlook with kitchen/dining/TV room opening out to a shady BBQ terrace. Immaculate ablutions include a disabled access/family suite. Extras include an internet room and wireless hotspot, SKY TV, reading room, trampoline, a superb swimming pool (with hot tub) and a bright new playground. This complex is 21 km south of Cape Reinga and the road to The Cape is sealed
all the way. There are level sites, 128 with power, dotted with palms and other
shady trees. You can shop for groceries, fill your car with petrol, get a snack
or a full meal at the licensed restaurant in season and enjoy the inviting dining
room. The camp kitchen offers basic equipment, gas cook tops and fridges.,
There is a small dining area. A laundromat service operates, with commercial
quality equipment in the vast laundry. Hot showers ($2) are limited in number,
metered and clean. A pick up and drop off service is available for tramping

Located in rural Waitawheta near the town of Waihi, the camp is close to large areas of native New Zealand bush and rivers, including one of New Zealand's top ten natural attractions - the Karangahake Gorge and the Hauraki Rail Trail.

Whether it's tramping, cycling, kayaking, abseiling, exploring gold-mining heritage sites or travelling on the vintage rail train, there's so much to do in and around the camp.We are only 15 minutes drive from Waihi Beach, with pristine white sand beaches and coastal walkways. We have Kayaks for hire at the camp.There are fresh water swimming holes in the rivers close to the camp and at Dickeys Flat.

To reach Waitarere, turn-off SHwy 1 about 8 km north of Levin. Small in size but not in comfort, this spic-and-span terraced camp is adjacent to the wide sweep of Waitarere Beach. It has sites with power, plus a range of tent sites. The kitchen has plenty of facilities (including microwave) and a dining area, with an adjoining TV room. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with homely touches. All the amenities are of a good standard with two ablutions blocks. An interesting children’s playground is set on the hill above the camp with great views out to sea. Shopping is just around the corner and you can walk through the sand dunes to the beach. A dump station is provided. Your host is Robin. All sites are $17 per adult and $8 a child under 12 years.
