Well signposted, this camp is sited in an elevated rural setting, just off the southern motorway at Ramarama, handy if you wish a no-frills overnight stopover. Adjacent to the camp is a 7-day store and takeaway. The extensive camping area is largely flat, with around 100 sites. The older-style kitchen has a full stove plus electric hobs, a big fridge/freezer and dining space. An ablution block, an automatic laundry and a dump point are provided. There is a T V lounge a games room.

DESCRIPTION:

More like a mini village than a camping ground, this 34-acre park rambles along the hills above the northern end of Red Beach. There are narrow winding streets, individually named, and clusters of own-your-own cottages with permanently leased sites. Mature trees shelter the attractive communal grassed area near the park entrance which has an excellent children_s playground and a small stage where live bands play and budding stars can practice. Alongside is a recreation hall with extra facilities. There are six small amenities blocks with brand new dining facilities next to a kitchen. A good tenting area with a BBQ available. There is internet access and you can master the game of table tennis. Xmas and New Year entertainment is a feature. Dogs are not permitted. A 'Jacob's Ladder' gives direct access to the beach at the north end of the park and a footbridge provides access to Red Beach, a Life guard serviced beach at the southern end.

DESCRIPTION:

New Zealand's most famous west coast surf beach, Piha, is tucked on the coastal fringes of the Waitakere Ranges and reached by a spectacular (but windy!) scenic drive. The domain camp is situated on a level grassy area, with some dividing hedges and trees. The camp is bounded by the imposing Lion Rock on its seaward side, with the remainder encircled by playing fields, a tennis court and a lagoon for the children (who also have a safe adventure playground). The ablution block has swipe-card access for hot showers. with an outdoor cold-water shower and toilets (including disabled access) open to the public. There is a camp kitchen and BBQ cook-up area and the local store, post office and pay phone are opposite the camp. This relaxed, family camping environment offers prime surfing and fishing. The rugged beach is safe for swimming if the rules are strictly adhered to _ swim between the flags! Fiona Anderson is your host. All sites are from $15 per person.

DESCRIPTION:

Aquatic Park Holiday Camp is in the thermal heart of the Helensville district, northwest of Auckland. Parakai is well known for its many warm mineral
swimming pools and water slide. The camping ground is adjacent, but quite
separate from the pools. It has a nice playground for children. Sites are level and open with big trees around the perimeter of the camp. Picnic tables and some hard stands for vans are provided. Over 100 sites here, most with power. A clean kitchen has microwave (there is no dining space), but plenty of preparation benches, a stove, hot plates and a fridge. The laundry facilities are excellent. The ablutions have a modest number of good hot showers and toilet facilities, however there is another block near the camp entrance. A good number of permanents are in residence, but there is plenty of space for casual campers. There is a dump station here. A superette, family tavern and takeaway are within a stones throw of the camp. Powered sites are $14 per person and unpowered $12 per person. Campers get a reduced fee to use the pools.

DESCRIPTION:

Pakiri Beach Holiday Park is just to the north of Leigh, this rural camp is right
on a superb east coast beach. The approach takes you along about 3km of
gravel road. Alongside the entrance is an office/store. Security gates protect
the camp from unwanted visitors. The camp is well laid out and the camping
area is spacious, flat and grassed with shelter from the predominant winds.
There are 15 power sites and 90 unpowered sites and a children’s playground
is set up in a tree-shaded corner near the entrance to the park. The basic
TV room adjoins a games room. The lined ablutions are in two blocks, with
roomy 50 cent metered showers plus a separate disability suite. The laundry
has good commercial wash and drying machines, with an annexe for tubs,
babies’ bath and ironing. The kitchen has gas hobs and all other facilities with
a servery to the smart dining room. A picnic marquee is great for summer
dining. No dogs here please. You hosts are Andre and Martie van Schalkwyk
who offer Eftpos. Ask about the kayaks. Unpowered camping sites start at $45. A day visitors fee may apply. Seasonal rates apply.

Situated beside a sandy beach with spectacular views across Manukau Harbour to the Auckland city skyline, this quiet family camp is just over an hour_s drive from Auckland airport, on the northern shore of Awhitu Peninsula. Campsites are close to amenities which include an immaculate kitchen with 2 stoves, plenty of small appliances, fridge and freezer, along with some helpful utensils. The adjoining laundry has washing machine, dryer and just ask if you need an iron. The spotlessly clean ablutions have toilets for each gender, plus metered unisex showers and a huge disabled access/family suite. A baby_s bath is provided in the _Ladies_ with a cot and highchair available on request. A function room has a BBQ and some sociable indoor space for campers. A small shop for the _basics_ is open nearby in peak summer or there is a 7-day general store 10 minutes drive away. All sites have power, water and grey water disposal. DESCRIPTION:

Orewa Beach Holiday Park has been a popular beachfront camp
since its inception around 70 years ago! Located at the southern end of
lovely Orewa Beach, turn at the traffic lights. The grounds are flat, with big
pohutukawa trees, and over 300 power sites. Taps are plentiful. All are
serviced by excellent amenities, splendidly maintained, including disability
toilets and showers. There are sunny kitchen/dining areas plus gas BBQ’s.
Both laundries have automatic equipment. Two alternative recreation rooms give different options for relaxing. There is a boat ramp, dump station, Internet access and playground. No animals here please. Your hosts Karen and Nick
Brownlie can usually find you a place even in summer.

An hour's drive east of Auckland airport is this relaxed and well-equipped camp, set in pleasant surroundings with a sparkling river alongside that boasts a large swimming hole and sheltered beach close by. In the attractively-planted grounds you can either find a remote spot or be sociable. The camp is split into two levels, on one level are 110 powered sites, some with permanent weekenders in residence. A central kitchen serves both levels and you can dine indoors or outside in the paved BBQ garden. A porch provides another washing-up area with hot water, fridge and a filtered drinking-water tap. There are several ablutions blocks with generous shower cubicles (metered) with shelves and dry space, hand driers are also available. From tots to teens there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to keep them happy all holiday long. Boaties can store their craft here or you can take a kayak out for a paddle. The local general store is beside the camp entrance and the library is opposite. An automatic laundry, internet facilities and dump point are provided. Power sites $48 per double, $11.50 child. Tent sites $44 per double, $11.50 per child. Seasonal rates will apply.

Omana has an extensive area for camping just above the beach, which is
reached through an appealing picnic park that has tables and BBQ’s, and a
purpose built campfire site. There are taps, one outdoor cold shower and
toilets with wheelchair access. Sites are $13 for adults and $6 for children.
There is a designated area in the car park for self-contained vehicles at $6 and
$6 for adults and children respectively. Annual passes are available. Rubbish
bins are provided for campers only.

DESCRIPTION:

A windswept rugged coastline stretching 50 km north makes Muriwai one
of New Zealand’s most spectacular black sand surf beaches. At its southern
end, Otakamiro Point is the site of one of this country’s few mainland gannet
breeding colonies. The headland and offshore islands are also home to white
fronted terns (tara), blue penguins and fur seals (kekeno). Heading west from
Auckland, the turn off to Murwai is just past the township of Waimauku. The
camp is at the end of the road to Muriwai Beach. There is a café near the camp
entrance and a general store further up the road. The camp is run by a private
operator. There are 68 power sites and over 100 sites for tents. Dump points
are provided for vans. There are reasonable kitchen and laundry facilities, hot
showers and flushing toilets. Power sites are $28 per night includes 2 people.
Camp rates are $14 per adult, $7 per child and preschool are free.
