DESCRIPTION:

Tucked a little back from the beach, but with easy access, this mature and tidy
camp has a perimeter of large shelter trees and the wide, open spaces of
Marine Park next door. There are a number of well established permanent
house buses and similar but travelling campers are accommodated in separate,
uncluttered areas with tall, hedged borders and plenty of room to move. The
rustic outdoor wood-fired BBQ has some nice plantings and leads into the
serviceable and well-scrubbed kitchen. The ablutions are clean and well lit.
The laundry has coin-operated machines and a dump point is provided. Pets
are welcome. Your hosts is Dawn. Non Powered Sites are $10 per person.
Powered sites are $12 per person. Children 5-10 half price. Children under

An inviting inner-city camp, compact and quiet with 30 sheltered sites in
attractive, colourful grounds. Make the most of the heated swimming pool,
spa pool and sauna or venture out for an 8-minute walk that will take you
to the beach and coastal walkway. The private camp sites are level, with
dividing ponga fences and plantings. The ample facilities are immaculate,
modernised and include, great new showers with disabled access facilities, a
well-supplied laundry and a dump point. The bright kitchen has plenty of modern appliances; and dining area is combined with a well-equipped games
and TV room. Enjoy the covered BBQ area with outdoor dining, or let the kids
loose in the children’s play area complete with swings, trampoline, chess and
climbing equipment. Stay in touch via a wireless hotspot. Snacks and DVD

DESCRIPTION:

South-west of New Plymouth, turn towards the coast off SHwy 45 onto Wairau Road and follow the camp signs for 13 kms. This is true beachfront camping at Taranaki's most popular swimming, surfing and windsurfing beach. Breathtaking views with just about every site looking out to sea. The camp is in two parts, with sites in the lower camp spread across two levels, some with stunning views of the Tasman Sea and others in a sheltered valley. The upper part is on a quiet terraced area above the main camp and is surrounded by bush and native birds. The amenities are good, although usage can be high at peak times. A well-equipped, sparkling kitchen has plenty of bench space and modern appliances. A great alternative is the BBQ. There are roomy showers and all the bathroom extras. Automatic machines can be found in the laundry and a dump station is provided. Although there are 117 sites with power plus 60 for tents, pre-booking for summer is advised. The office is located over the road from the camp and there are a selection of books, games and tennis rackets available also. Your hosts are Al and Jan. DESCRIPTION:

On the southern aspect of Mt Ruapehu, the alpine town of Ohakune is an alternative gateway to the ski and wilderness areas of Tongariro National Park. This top-notch camp has 55 good sized powered sites, spread across appealing grounds with mature trees and a mountain stream on one border. There is an excellent kitchen, a herb garden, plus a cosy and warm dining area, with a separate Sky TV room with a verandah and a games room. An outside BBQ area has ample tables and a petanque court nearby. The smart, tiled ablutions really showcase the lovely natural timber detailing that features throughout the camp. Simply push a button and you get light, heat and a seven minute shower - they even have heated towel rail! An automatic laundry, internet access and a dump station are provided, while the children have a good play area with trampoline and the private spa is appreciated after a day on the slopes. Number of tent sites - 36 Camp in a remote setting. This is one of four road access points to the Whanganui Journey. Look and listen for kereru, tui and fantail. Brown kiwi can often be heard at night. The forest is a mix of rata, rewarewa, rimu, tawa, and kowhai trees.

DESCRIPTION:

 A spectacular location, wrapped around the
sheltered Onaero River mouth and surrounded by bush. Its great outdoor
environment, along with limited cellphone coverage, means this is the
ideal spot to get away from it all! Just 11.5km north of Waitara, the
layout of the camp is very user-friendly, with 57 level power sites
and 30 tent sites scattered across well-manicured grounds. The pretty
beach is safe for swimming, has good fishing and whitebaiting and
views out to the offshore drilling rig on the horizon. Three kitchens
mean plenty of room for all and a small shop is onsite for snacks. The
amenities are excellent. The laundries have drying facilities and a
dump point is provided. There is a kids playground. . Your friendly
host is Michelle. You will need to contact the camp for current rates.

DESCRIPTION:

Half an hour from Hawera, an attractive bush-reserve approach leads to this
beachside camp. Opunake is a traditional holiday spot, with the rest of the
sheltered bay housing the surf club and an artificial surf reef just offshore. Nearby activities include boating, surfcasting, swimming and water skiing.
The grounds are level grass, with 95 powered sites and 10 tent sites in a
ribbon layout. The amenities block has a kitchen with stoves, bench cooktops,
microwaves and fridge/freezers. A TV lounge/dining area has outside dining
under shade sails. There is also a large paddling pool and lots of adventure
play equipment. Supplies are available at the camp shop. Superb toilets/
ablutions include a disabled access suite and there is a laundry an d dump point
provided. No pets here please. Your hosts are Lisa and Jase All sites are
powered $44 for 2 adults, $10 per child. $5 for under 5.

This small, intimate camp, sometimes known as Carlyle Beach Motor Camp, is
situated on picturesque Mana Bay and offers a relaxed and affordable family
holiday in a beautiful spot. Overlooking the mouth of the Patea River, the
camp is pleasantly sheltered. The nearby beach reserve offers safe swimming,
BBQ shelters, picnic tables and a small playground . The Patea Golf Course
is just up the road. The kitchen has modern appliances, some cookware and
utensils and a TV. The ablutions are basic but clean and look like they have
been upgraded recently. The small laundry has an auto washer and a dump
point is provided. The camp is in the care of Glynis and Erin. Tent sites are
$12.50 per person and the 23 powered sites, $15 per person.

The road is unsealed and not for the faint hearted, but you will be rewarded by the atmosphere of this special place.  Excellent bushwalks, hot showers, boat ramp for many water activities. NZ’s longest manmade lake. Fee: $5 per site per night (based on a family of 4).
