DESCRIPTION:

At the top of the West Coast, and not far from Farewell Spit, is this ecofriendly camp set amongst rural farmland. There are eight sites with power around the landscaped grounds, plus plenty of tent sites. A nice main building houses a large kitchen with gas hobs and other facilities, plus a spacious dining area with a large polished wooden slab table as it's focal point. There is also a pool table in this area as well as an outside covered deck with sofas and chairs, and a view to the surrounding countryside. Unisex ablutions have large coin-operated gas heated showers and an equally large disability suite. The laundry has auto machines and there is a children’s playground. Take a 20 minute walk to Wharariki Beach, which is famous for its sunsets, and you may be lucky enough to see seals, and seal pups basking and swimming here too. A gorgeous tree enclosed café is on the edge of the camp, and numerous walks are close by. Stock up at Collingwood on the way as there are no shops here. A site will cost you $18 per person, and if you want power it is an extra $5.
