DESCRIPTION:

Whangapoua Rd is just before Coromandel town, coming from Kuaotunu. Look for the green 'Tui Lodge' entrance sign. Campers wanting a pleasant rural stopover can camp in and around the complex's leafy gardens and orchards with free fruit in season and make use of the plentiful facilities in the backpacker's lodge. There are spotless unisex bathrooms, 2 kitchens with gas hobs and lots of appliances, a free BBQ and a summerhouse that's great for chilling out in. There is a free laundry, and free bikes. The lounge and TV room are cosy and comfortable. Your host is Dianne.  Camping is available in the garden setting or in the orchard from $20 per person.

DESCRIPTION:

Nestled into native bush, with brand new modern facilities providing free showers, with wheelchair access, a large spacious kitchen with gas hobs, ovens, fridges, microwaves, toasters and hot water on tap. There is a coin operated laundry with dryers and washing machines. A TV room with Freeview, and internet kiosk with wireless is available for a small fee. The ablution and kitchen areas are adjoined to a spacious inner courtyard. Here a large screen TV offers Sky, Sport, a Cartoon Network, UKTV and a variety of other channels for your enjoyment. The park is being added to almost continuously, 6 showers have been added this summer. You can fish, kayak, swim, surf, dive, set off on a day trip to Cathedral Cove and back, maybe dig your own hot pool, or enjoy the local cafes. Your hosts are Sheree and Grant. The hot pools are only accessible two hours each side of low tide. Don’t forget to take a spade.

DESCRIPTION:

Largest DOC camp in the country. Head north from Coromandel, then take Waikawau-Kennedy Bay Road. Here you’ll find relaxed, comfortable camping, adjacent to a sweeping, sandy beach. The beach is good for swimming, diving and fishing, and bush walking opportunities are nearby. North of the campsite are breeding grounds for the NZ dotterel and variable oystercatcher so please do not drive on the beaches. Facilities available are water from a tap, longdrop toilets, and cold shower Rubbish disposal at Walkaway Bay.

Number of tent/non-powered - 60. Maximum number of people - 300.  Sites are selected by campers on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a beach front campsite in a farm setting. Walk along the Coromandel Walkway to Stony Bay; an ideal location for water sports including swimming, boating, diving and fishing.

Maximum number of people - 300 This is a spacious (5 ha) campsite beside the coast.  Good fishing and diving nearby.

This campground is Pack In Pack Out. There are no rubbish or recycling facilities for compost or food waste. A container with a sealed lid is recommended for your food scraps.

The closest refuse transfer station is 525 Hauraki Road, Coromandel Town. See Thames Coromandel District Council website (external site) for opening hours and other transfer stations.

DESCRIPTION:

Miranda is known internationally for its Shore Bird Sanctuary. Escape to this thermal holiday park in a quiet rural setting, and soak up the luxury facilities.
Beautifully landscaped with palm trees and creative touches, the large free-form thermal pool is the focal point of the park and pure indulgence for bathers.
Work up a sweat on the astrograss tennis court and petanque area alongside.
The spacious and glossy kitchen has plenty of dining space, cooking hobs and a microwave, plus fridges and a freezer. The office/shop has a well-stocked supply of the basics. Both ablution blocks have smart, roomy shower cubicles, push-button operated, liquid soap and hand-driers. A completely separate disabled access/family suite is available. The laundry has ample automatic equipment and a dump station is provided. The TV lounges (with Sky TV) has all the comforts of home with carpet and soft seating, and can be extended to provide quiet play space for children or they can let off steam in the outdoor play area. Outside are BBQ’s, and a smart playground. There is a new 18 hole mini golf course, volleyball court and frisbee golf. Campers with dogs have a separate area and arrangements must be made prior to arrival. Paul and Trish are your hosts. Powered sites are from $24.50 per person and $12 for children under 14 years.

DESCRIPTION:

This small family-friendly camp is across the road from a safe swimming harbour and 10 minutes walk to a surf beach. The 25 sites are in a pleasant setting with a hedged perimeter, and some sites are among sheltered trees and set back from the road. Facilities include, a kitchen with modern appliances and fridge, ovens etc.  This opens out to a pleasant outdoor dining table area complete with TV lounge, an automatic laundry, tidy tiled ablutions with metered showers and two disabled access toilets. A games room. For those with fishing in mind there is a boat washdown and fish station. Your hosts are Charlie and Heather.

Dogs welcome by prior arrangement. Free wifi.  Kayaks, bikes and surfboards are available to hire and free BBQ is available.
