The campground is located in a bush area east of the peak, on the track.

This is a remote campground with no water supply or toilets. We recommend going to Thousand Acres Campground which has a toilet, shelter and water supply, if you are not familiar with this site.

Access is on foot only from the Waharau Ridge Loop Track take the Kohukohunui Track. This is a steep track, recommended for experienced trampers only.

DESCRIPTION:

Westshore Holiday Park is easy-to-find camp on the northern edge of Napier. Set in immaculate and mature gardens, the recent addition of a large, grassed recreational area at the rear of the camp behind the tent terraces is a real asset. There is a flying fox, Trampoline etc. . The camp comprises 70 sites (46 with power) and some all-weather van sites. Children have an enclosed, central play area and there is a pleasant covered dining area set aside for BBQs and socialising. There is a corridor-type kitchen with dining and TV at one end, plus a good selection of kitchen equipment. Two ablution blocks with metered showers have had a spruce-up (plus there is a children_s bath). An automatic laundry is available, as is bike hire and wireless internet. The tavern across the road or adjacent take-away are handy alternatives when it_s your night to cook! Your hosts are Dennis and Brenda.

At the end of Beaumont Road you will find this affordable family camping spot in a picturesque, absolute lakefront setting. Enjoy the boat ramp, jetty and a safe sandy beach all on hand. Facilities are adequate; the kitchen overlooks the lake and has picnic tables outside and the amenities block is roomy and caters for wheelchairs. Akapoua Bay; Camp in a sheltered bay amongst beautiful pohutukawa trees. DOC office is next door and a wharf, shop, fuel depot and post office are nearby. This is a popular place for families and boaties. Shingle beach. Gateway to track network. A day walk to the impressive kauri dam and good fishing in the harbour.

DESCRIPTION:

The campground at Akitio is right next to the beach and rumbles with the sound of the sea. The amenities were clean and neat.

There is a small general store for the local residents and campers.

The campsite is mostly used by long-term residents, but there are powered sites available for casual visitors.

Fishing is clearly good, as there is a well-used fish cleaning area.

The recent makeover means fresh paint and new facilities welcome campers, along with the 18 dinosaurs of course. Educational as well as a fun feature, the dinosaurs each have a sign that gives details of their eating habits amongst other information. Just a hop, skip and a jump to the Hannah Bay lake front reserve of Lake Rotorua, the local shops, and the airport, family entertainment is what this place is all about. Facilities include an excellent toilet and shower area, as well as a sparkling kitchen area. Mature trees are scattered throughout this spacious camp, 75 powered sites have hedged borders and a large, open grass area with 25 tent sites. If the children get bored with the amazing playground, and onsite bouncy castle, there is always the recreation room which includes Sky TV and a dining room with wireless hotspot and internet kiosks. There are also kayaks and bikes for hire, tree huts and an under 10 year old children\'s room. Of course the first port of call will probably be the large indoor heated swimming pool with a retractable roof, or the toddler pool and a spa for the grownups. A laundry and dump point are provided.

When you hit Anaura Bay turn north and head up the tar sealed road to this
relaxed, family, beachfront camping area in a fenced paddock beside a stream.
Great swimming and coastal bush walks are to be had from here. This basic
campground is open between Labour weekend (October) through to Easter.
This is back-to-basics camping. No toilets are provided. You also need to
bring your own portable cookers or barbecues and don't forget a chemical
toilet. (a dump station is provided in the peak season). Other facilities include rubbish collection and tap water (not suitable for drinking).

DESCRIPTION:

Turn east off SHwy 35, beside the Raponga River bridge, onto the road to Anaura Bay. The road is fairly steep but is sealed all the way and your reward is a magnificent sheltered beach at your camp doorstep - with views to nearby Motuoroi Island. We have 70 unpowered and 30 powered sites, 18 of which are prime beachfront positioning (Captain Cook landed here in 1769). The large, well-equipped kitchen is to be found in the historic school building that has a nice sheltered verandah running along the front with great sea views. The camp store is open 7 days during the peak season. Two blocks of ablutions (Wahine and Tane) have showers and toilets. There is also an outdoor swim shower and basins. Children have a play area. There is an automatic laundry. Pets are welcome only in off-peak times. Fishing (beach and boat), diving and crayfishing in the vicinity are excellent.  Wifi is available. Seasonal rates apply.

This neat clean well maintained holiday resort, just 17 minutes drive north of
Coromandel Town, offers an inviting welcome to the tired traveller. Set up
camp on one of a series of elevated grassy terraces with bush backdrops and
relax whilst enjoying the uninterrupted sea views. A delightful, rocky stream
borders the camp and the beach is just across the road. The amenities are
compact but immaculately clean and well presented.. The kitchen has 2 stoves
and fridge/freezer, or cook up an outdoor feast in the large hexagonal enclosed
BBQ pavilion, complete with 2 central BBQs and lots of tables and seating.
Whilst you’re enjoying dinner, you can watch the kids splashing about in the
adjacent swimming pool and spa area. Free showers are provided, there is an
automatic laundry available. As the name suggests, fisherfolk are well catered
for with ‘on-site’ fishing charters, a water taxi service, dinghy hire and bait tackle
for sale. The office shop sells the basics and there is a poolroom/TV lounge.
Your hosts are Ann-Charlott, Thomas, Johan, Emilie and Malin. Of the 22 sites
available 14 have power.

Aroha Island is a 12ha sanctuary in the Kerikeri Inlet and is a short 12km
drive north east of Kerikeri, in the stunning Bay of Islands. A causeway
links the island to the mainland, providing permanent and convenient vehicle
access. It is a natural haven with a wide diversity of New Zealand plants
and birds including the rare North Island Brown Kiwi.
Stroll the private beach, kayak the inlet, take a bush walk, look for birds
and check out the information in the Eco Centre. We offer a range of
accommodation including our campground, bush cottages and our inlet view
Kiwi Lodge…. so come and stay for a night or two and have the chance to see kiwi in their natural habitat.
Aroha Island offers camping on one of our two beautiful campgrounds.
Unpowered sites down by our sheltered Kerikeri inlet beach or a choice of
powered or unpowered sites in our upper bush campground.  It’s the perfect place to just relax or to use as a holiday base to explore the Bay of
Islands. If you are travelling with a larger group and are looking for a
range of accommodation, we also have our lodge and cottage accommodation.

Please note because of the  presence of Kiwi & the sensitive nature of the
island, a “No Pets, No  Smoking” policy is in place, thank you.

Awana Estuary is on the east coast of Great Barrier Island. Get there via the
Auckland car ferry and then a rough gravel road (dry weather access only).
Camp on an undulating site next to the Awana Stream (take your mozzie
repellent!) and close to one of the island’s most famous surf beaches. This
camping area has a covered outdoor eating shelter with a sink and water from
a tap for washing up, toilets, cold shower and rubbish collection, but no shade. With room for around 60 tents, bookings are required all year round.

Mangaweka is halfway between Wellington and Taupo and this unique camp is located 1km off SH1 alongside the peaceful Rangitikei River with towering cliffs, native birds and an enticing landscaped garden. Just north of the township turn east onto Ruahine Road and travel down the hill, over the bridge and immediately into Awastone. There are 12 powered and 4 non powered sites suitable for tenting or campers/caravans. The facilities are well appointed with nice wooden ablutions, shared kitchen and nicely linked by concrete paths. Also included is wifi, potable water, hot showers and an onsite licensed cafe (seasonal). An outdoor hot tub is available to hire. Laundry services have an extra cost too. Powered site costs $48 for the first two people and $10 per extra adult. $5 per child under 16 and under 5 is free. Bookings are recommended.

Off Brook Road, between Waiuku and Manukau Heads, There is a vast choice
of sites within two defined areas, the Brook camping ground or the Peninsula
camping ground. It is all basically level with grassy sites and clusters of trees.
Although it is a coastal camp, the two beaches are reached by short walking
tracks. There are clean toilets, water and BBQs. No animals are permitted.
There is an attractive nine-hole golf course alongside the park. Camping is
$13 and $6 for adults and children respectively. There is a designated area for
self-contained vehicles. Annual passes are available.

At the top of the Tahora Saddle is a camp ground with fantastic views to the
Central Plateau including Mount Ruapehu. Use the camp as base to explore
the historic trails of the Forgotten World Highway. The campground has no
powered sites but is in a lovely bush setting with simple facilities of a long drop
toilet (with a view!) and a BBQ kitchen. Up near the house there are hard
standing powered sites and a high quality bathroom with hot shower which
can also be used by those camping on the lower area. of the campground.

Battle Hill Farm Forest Park is an attractive Regional Park campsite is reached off the Paekakariki Hill Road only 6km north of the Pauatahanui intersection. Enjoy the wide open spaces of rural Wellington and camp in a grassy little dell surrounded by hills and bush and complete with friendly woolly lawnmowers (sheep)! The 500 hectare farm park is a haven for picnickers, walkers, cyclists and horse riders and has many historical features that date from colonial times. Paddle with the kids in the small campside stream or take a walk to the old battle site at the top of the hill, following the new interpretation trail. Basic toilet and basin facilities (with wheelchair access) are cold water only and there is a drinking water tap. Gas BBQ_s are permitted (BYO). Because of the livestock and protected wildlife here, no dogs are permitted - even in vehicles. This park is closed at night and served by an on-site ranger. Camp fees are $6 per adult and $3 per child (16 and under). For group bookings, check with the ranger.The maximum number of campers is 60 people.

of Auckland. To get there take State Highway 1 to Warkworth through to

Turn off the coastal road from Russell. Nothing bland about this camp, which
dominates both bays on each side of the isthmus. Water taps are at all 40
power sites. There are 2 blocks of clean basic ablutions. The showers have
$1 tokens. The kitchen is small but clean. Automatic laundry equipment is
provided. The camp store has Eftpos and is open longer hours, during peak
season. Extra charges apply for waterfront sites: beachfront powered sites $22 per person, non
powered $20 and rear tent sites are $21 for power and $19 non powered.
