Akaroa TOP 10 Holiday Park has self contained studios and units, plus cabins
Situated in the hills above Akaroa village, this park has an enviable location.
Carefully maintained, some of the terraced sites have bay views. Easy access
with trim flowerbeds at each level of the 150 sites. Most have power, storm
water drains and taps. An area is available for boat parking and there are
two dump points in the camp. There is a big in-ground swimming pool on
the upper level and a good children’s playground. Enjoy views over the bay
from the attractive kitchen or use the gas BBQ. TV rooms are provided
and internet access. The amenities include excellent showers and automatic
laundry equipment. It is an easy walk to the township for shopping, but a
climb on the way back. In summer, ice creams and drinks are available at the

At the end of the road, 2km from Hanmer Village, is this extensive park with
spacious sites and lovely mountain views. Well-serviced with sealed roads
and over 60 campsites, there are also large trees for shade. The clean kitchen
has all appliances with a dining area next door, as well as BBQ tables outside
under shade sails. The ablutions are excellent and have a disability unit, there
is also a drying room opening off the laundry. The separate games room has
table tennis, pool and air hockey as well as arcade games, and you won't find a
better children's playground - it comes complete with an initiative course! For
those who want to relax, there is a comfy TV lounge with an internet station,
a petanque pit, or cool off in the swimming pool. There are bikes available
for hire, both children and adult sizes available. Wireless internet and a dump
station are here for campers, and your hosts are Alan and his team. Tent sites
are $30 for two, power sites $35 for two.
This camp is well presented and designed with care and thought. Camping is
on level ground, divided by limestone drives. The trees and fencing help with

Easy to find, this large park is beside the Waitangi River, and an easy drive to
Paihia approx. 6 km away At the entrance is a well stocked shop and office.
The grounds are level with lovely mature trees, a children’s play area, flying fox,
swimming pool and BBQ. The river is safe for swimming, you can hire a kayak.
The main kitchen is very pleasant, light and airy with absolutely everything.
Adjacent is a roomy dining/lounge/TV area with a DVD. In addition to
communal fridge/freezers, refrigerated lockers can be hired at $2.50 per day.

The picturesque Belt Road Seaside Holiday Park urban camp offers level, cliff-top sites with spectacular views over the New Plymouth harbour and port. Mature Pohutukawa trees shade the grounds. Hedged private sites are very inviting. There are around 70 sites with power, plus 43 for tents. Amenities are plentiful and well maintained. Ablutions are in four separate blocks with key access (no extra to pay) and two disabled/family bathrooms are available. Newest communal facility, boast unisex cubicles, including a family bathroom and a disabled bathroom, super large kitchen, laundry, and a lounge with Sky TV (Sports and movies) The three kitchens have a range of cooking options, coffee and food dispensing kiosks and there_s a large covered outdoor area with a coin-operated BBQ. Three well-equipped laundries and a dump point are provided. To keep the smaller members of the family entertained there is a trampoline, and playground. Nearby activities include access to a boat ramp, game fishing, the aquatic centre, mineral pools, or try the coastal walk that starts from the camp and heads straight down to Breakerwater Bay shops and cafes. A picturesque 25 minute drive from Nelson, and 2hrs from Picton, turn off at the Cable Bay road at Hira and travel 8km further on a sealed road. This camp with stunning bay views is on the historic cable station site where the first telegraph link came from Sydney in 1876. Large mature native trees surround this camp, and an extra well-sheltered, tenting area over the creek includes a tenting oasis, and in the creek are tame eels. The ablutions are modern and spotless and include disability facilities, while the kitchen has gas hobs, microwaves, fridges and a BBQ under the front covered veranda. At the rear of the building is a laundry with auto washer and dryer. There is safe swimming at the beach, great kayaking, the Cable Bay walkway, a boat ramp (4WD only) and a safety trampoline for the children. Wifi is available and camping with dogs is by request, please book first. What a beautiful setting this camping ground is in. A well cared for, tree
sheltered camp with numerous tent sites and 10 power points. You can enjoy
peace and quiet in a relaxed atmosphere. A round of golf maybe, or a walk
to the top of the hill to take in the views, perhaps you would like to try your
hand at fishing in the nearby rivers. A swimming pool with a deck, seating and
a BBQ is provided for your enjoyment. The roomy fully equipped kitchen/
dining area has been upgraded and there are plenty of tables and chairs, as well
as provision for outside dining. The laundry has new coin operated washers
and dryers, and the ablutions are very clean, with towels available for campers.

Off Linwood Ave, is this pretty little camp, 5km from the centre of Christchurch, with a perimeter of tree lined campsites. The centre hosts a clean, pleasant kitchen opening to a courtyard BBQ garden. Excellent ablutions, with piped music, include a disability suite and a good laundry. Of the 40 large power sites, many have hard stands. A special sheltered area close to the amenities has been set aside for tenters, and a swimming pool and children's playground are centrally placed. Internet access is available in the comfortable TV lounge, a 7-day shop is next door to the camp and there is free wifi and a dump station. Your hosts are Ross and Christine. This is a popular holiday spot, an easy 35-minute drive from Auckland airport.
The attractively landscaped grounds are tucked into a sheltered bay with water
on two sides and a golf course on the third. Camp on sunny, terraced sites
- most equipped with power, water and sewerage facilities. Relax in the arge, covered swimming pool, with picnic and BBQ facilities, try your hand
at mini-golf. The TV and recreation room has great views across the harbour.
The kitchen offers plenty of appliances, refrigeration, a preparation area,
and a breezeway alongside provides dining space. Ablutions include smart
shower cubicles (metered), with a baby’s bath and disabled access toilet and
shower. Additional unisex showers and toilets are also provided. An excellent
automatic laundry has iron and board. Water-sport enthusiasts are catered
for with on-site kayak hire, fish cleaning, and boat parking, with a choice of boat
ramps nearby. Much care has been taken in landscaping the camp to give it a
pleasant, relaxed, resort atmosphere. A special area is designated for campers

A short walk from Coromandel town centre, the Coromandel TOP 10 Holiday Park is ideally located to discover the Coromandel. There are level sites (both grass and hardstand), including 30 with power and a tenting area with a pleasant rural outlook. Willows and hedges give shelter and a pleasant heated swimming pool enclosure has a BBQ. Three smart kitchens with modern appliances are provided and the sparkling ablution blocks have metered showers. The automatic laundry has ironing equipment and a dump station. this little camp has 10 power points and room for tents, all set on a sunny
grassy area with trees for shade and grape vines all around. The ablutions are
modern, with roomy showers and disability suites, while the kitchen/dining has
a fridge, jug, toaster, two gas hobs, and a washing machine at the other end. A

Situated on a farm, 1 km east of Waitomo village, this backpackers hostel offers
convenient camping around it’s pleasant, elevated grounds. There are some
stunning campsites (4 with power), with great views out over the Waitomo
Valley. All the facilities, including internet access, are in the lodge. Designed
to capture the views and the sun, the lodge has a wrap-around deck with BBQ
and outdoor dining space or dine alfresco using one of the timber-slab picnic
tables dotted around the grounds. There is a swimming pool, tennis court,
basketball court, and a very relaxed atmosphere - with various farm animals

Near the southern tip of Lake Wakatipu, this holiday park is full of mature trees and has a bubbly stream running through it. An ideal stopover between Queenstown/Wanaka and Milford Sound many of the sites have hard pads, and the tent sites are on well drained land. There is a small kitchen with ceramic cook-tops and a small dining room attached. You will find a TV, free videos, books and games in the TV room, and there is a separate room for internet. The ablutions have free showers and heating, there is a laundry and a guest BBQ. The park next door has tennis courts, and there is a café, local pub, and fish and chip shop within strolling distance. enjoys delightful landscaped gardens with rural views and many homely touches.
Check in at the modern office which carries a few basic supplies. The kids
have a great playground, a large solar heated swimming pool, plus a friendly
pony, birds, turtles etc. The amenities are excellent and include a smart, partly
covered pool next to the kitchen. Here there are modern appliances and a
dining space. The ablutions have free showers, disabled access/family suite and
plenty of bathroom extras. An automatic laundry and dump point are here
too. About 30 sites are available, all with power. When it comes to relaxing,

Mangatutu Hot Springs is a popular camping, picnic and fishing spot, and a starting point for tramping, hunting or day walks up the Mohaka River and further into the Kaweka Forest Park. There are barbecues, picnic tables and toilets located in secluded clearings among the manuka surrounds, and there are access tracks descending to the Mohaka River. The main feature here is the thermal springs. Thermal water issues from a deep, undercut, steaming hole on the top terrace. The water trickles down a riverside bluff and after a short way is channeled into two pools.

This long established, charming camp occupies a wonderful site between a safe beach and a boundary of bush. There is a lovely walk from here to Paihia 3.0 km away. More like a mini village than a camping ground, this 34-acre park rambles along the hills above the northern end of Red Beach. There are narrow winding streets, individually named, and clusters of own-your-own cottages with permanently leased sites. Mature trees shelter the attractive communal grassed area near the park entrance which has an excellent children_s playground and a small stage where live bands play and budding stars can practice. Alongside is a recreation hall with extra facilities. There are six small amenities blocks with brand new dining facilities next to a kitchen. A good tenting area with a BBQ available. There is internet access and you can master the game of table tennis. Xmas and New Year entertainment is a feature. Dogs are not permitted. A 'Jacob's Ladder' gives direct access to the beach at the north end of the park and a footbridge provides access to Red Beach, a Life guard serviced beach at the southern end.

Catchpool Valley is the most popular entrance to Remutaka Forest Park. It includes Orongorongo Valley and its booked huts - bookings can be made via the online booking system or by contacting the Wellington Visitor Centre. Within Catchpool Valley are attractive short walks and access to longer bush tramps, a well maintained campground, and pleasant picnic and barbecue facilities. There is also a field centre, toilets, and a 24-hour emergency telephone. The Catchpool Valley is undergoing a transformation as pine trees planted by the former New Zealand Forest Service are removed to enable the return of native forest.
7km from Warkworth, Sandspit Holiday Park is designed around family
camping with lots to keep the kids occupied for hours. The camp has its
own little beach and jetty, with a floating pontoon. free kayaks are available.
The games hall has table tennis, soccer and pool tables. Take a walk down
memory lane through the pioneer village of yesteryear. A brand new kitchen
and ablutions block has just been completed. In the kitchen is a huge table
and large doors leading to a covered deck, The ultra-modern showers and
toilet are new. Enjoy your evenings in the BBQ/dining area. Play a game of maxi chess while the meal cooks, meanwhile the children can get friendly
with the donkeys and sheep. An ‘olde’ picture theatre houses the TV room;

Follow the signposts from S Hwy 10. There is 11km of sealed road to Taupo Bay. The level lawn sites are partially shaded by trees and lead through to a stunning beach. A well stocked general store is open all day during the holiday season and at weekends but just odd hours in the off season. Eftpos service and a coffee machine are available. The kitchen is roomy with plenty of refrigerator space. There are hot plates and microwaves for cooking while outside is a covered dining area with a BBQ. Here you can sit and watch your children on the play equipment. You’ll find a comfortable carpeted TV lounge where videos are freely available. The ablutions have ample toilets and metered, curtained showers, with liquid soap at the basins. The laundry has automatic washers and dryers. Boats up to 22ft can be launched from here. beach that borders the camp. A boat ramp is nearby. From the camp you

store all year with good summer stock. Internet is available. The 150 level sites
(120 have power) are well drained but little shade. Secure boat and trailer
parking is provided. Two kitchens are operational when the camp is busy, both
are clean, with gas hobs set into tiled benches, microwaves and a fridge/freezer.
There is a outdoor BBQ corner nearby. The two kitchen and ablution blocks
vary, with one being larger they offer ($1 token-operated) showers, with
separate blocks providing toilets. The two laundries have automatic machines.

With the northern Kaimai Ranges and Mount Te Aroha dominating the skyline
to the east, head south along the road to Matamata from Te Aroha. You’ll
spot the entrance flags of the holiday park not far out of town on your left.
Amongst mature oak trees. this park features hanging bridges, treehuts, giant
swings and the longest flying fox in New Zealand’s holiday park. Bush-clad
hills rise above you in the distance and the grounds are dotted with stately
old oak trees. A deep artesian spring supplies the camp with mineral water
and feeds the ‘rock pool’ thermal bath available free to campers. Enjoy the
grass tennis court, swimming pool and BBQs. In a quiet setting, the camp
is enclosed by farmland with provision for grazing if you are travelling with
equine companions. Amenities include, a serviceable kitchen with stove,

The wild wild west comes to the South Island in this campground based in rural
farmland. Buildings that range from logs cabins to corrugated huts, through
to mud brick houses, it is an interesting place to recharge your batteries, or a comfortable stopover on your journey. A large and level grassed area is
provided for both powered and non powered sites, with very large trees for
shade. Not wanting anyone to be hemmed in, there is plenty of space for
everyone. Rustic and quirky are words that come to mind here, don't expect
spotless amenities and manicured lawns. Facilities include showers and toilets,
a small camp kitchen, and a large common room with table tennis and large
couches so you have somewhere out of the rain if needed. The outside BBQ
dining area, doubles as the limited wifi hotspot. Walks through the forest, huge
trees to admire, or look at the 'old stuff' shed. Your hosts are Stephen and
Linda and a site will cost $18 per person.
Whangapoua Rd is just before Coromandel town, coming from Kuaotunu. Look for the green 'Tui Lodge' entrance sign. Campers wanting a pleasant rural stopover can camp in and around the complex's leafy gardens and orchards with free fruit in season and make use of the plentiful facilities in the backpacker's lodge. There are spotless unisex bathrooms, 2 kitchens with gas hobs and lots of appliances, a free BBQ and a summerhouse that's great for chilling out in. There is a free laundry, and free bikes. What a lovely welcome you get from new owners Riza and Albert as you drive into this historical campground. The original base for the 1950s power project, it was once home to hundreds of Italian workers who were involved in what was then the biggest engineering project in New Zealand. For the casual camper looking for a quiet spot away from the main road, here you_ll find large, individually-hedged sites with plenty of lovely shady trees, each having a tap and a picnic table. Older-style, well-scrubbed amenities include a basic kitchen with lots of pans, crockery and cookware, ablutions with free curtained showers, a coin operated laundry, and a drying room available for a small charge. The covered deck off the kitchen is a beautiful spot to sit and eat your meal, and you can use the fish cleaning sink and outdoor BBQs to cook up your catch of the day. Too tired to cook? Town is within walking distance for a takeaway or a meal. Working towards being an eco friendly camp ground, there are ample recycling stations, a bin in the kitchen for your organic waste that goes to the worm farm, and a herb garden is also being established by the kitchen. Children have a couple of small play areas and plenty of room to run about, while on rainy days there is a large games room and guest lounge. Internet access and a dump station are also provided, and your dogs are welcome but by arrangement please. Charges are from $22 per person, children 5-14 from $10, and under five are free.
A smart, holiday complex with direct access to the beautiful Waikanae Beach
and just a few minutes stroll to Gisborne shops. This is a large camp with
133 powered sites. It can be intensely camped at times. Sites are level, with
some enjoying a shady aspect. The grounds are securely fenced and hedged
around the perimeter. There are open spaces for volleyball and an electric
BBQ area is a popular get-together spot. The amenities blocks function
well, with plentiful hot water and vanity areas in the ablutions. The large kitchen and laundry are well-equipped with appliances (bring own pots) Hire
a racquet and enjoy a game of tennis on the seaside courts with spectacular
views across to the white cliffs of Young Nicks Head or hire some wheels and
bike around the waterfront. Theres a kids play area, TV/games room too and
holiday entertainment may be offered in the summer. No pets please. A
dump station is provided. All sites are powered, from $18 to $25 per person.

The sealed road to Waimarama winds through rural hill country, 30 minutes drive from Havelock North. This large, flat, seaside camp has 30 caravan sites and 18 powered tent sites available, with the adjoining paddock used in peak periods. It is safe for children with one gate in and out. The golden, sandy beach is surf patrolled during the summer. From the camp it is a two minute walk to the domain and beach. The small and well-loved kitchen has gas cookers, microwave and fridge. The ablutions consist of two toilets and two coin operated showers (one with a shub/bath) each for men and women, plus a disabled access toilet. There is a small play area for toddlers. Three gas BBQs are available in an under-cover dining area. Your hosts are Karen and Ed who can be found at 15 Harper Street when the office is closed. Powered sites are $25 and un-powered $20 for adults, children (under 13) are half price and under 5s free.
Really get away from it all at the Waingaro Hot Springs and camp, 24 km west
of Ngaruawahia next to the Waingaro Hotel. Camp on 40 powered sites set
on pleasant sunny terraces (divided by bush and shrubbery) above the pools.
The amenities are small, with a functional kitchen and a communal room with
kitchenette. The well-used ablutions are in three blocks and extra toilets
are handily placed about the grounds. Two automatic laundries and a dump
station are provided. There are plenty of BBQs, picnic tables and children’s
play areas about the grounds. Although the camp store at the entrance has
limited supplies, we advise campers to stock-up in advance. Please do not
bring dogs here. Your hosts are Chood and Amro Singh. All sites are from
$22 per adult and under 12 years $12.50.
Railway wagons, just bring your sleeping bag and a night will cost you
$30 per person in a shared room. A twin/double wagon or cabin with
linen supplied is $80 for two people.
Don't expect manicured lawns and clearly marked sites in this cute little camp with a difference. Lovely gardens hide a multitude of historic railway guard vans, five powered sites and the room for tents. You can cook a meal at the station kitchen which doubles as a dining room. A lovely outside dining and BBQ area, covered with climbing plants and including a swing seat, is available also. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and the separate TV and recreation room includes comfy seating and a large TV. The ablutions area is clean, and have free showers, there is also a coin operated laundry available. A children's play area has a climbing frame and there is a large chess set on the paving stones. Right in the heart of Waitomo Village, very close to the caves, this park offers amphitheatre-style camping across a series of large sunny terraces. A bar and cafe/restaurant is on-site, with the main village amenities just across the road. The central, modern, facilities block enjoys a pleasant rural valley outlook with kitchen/dining/TV room opening out to a shady BBQ terrace. Immaculate ablutions include a disabled access/family suite. Extras include an internet room and wireless hotspot, SKY TV, reading room, trampoline, a superb swimming pool (with hot tub) and a bright new playground. Then there are over 30 unpowered / tent sites with expansive unmarked space in the adjacent paddock can accommodate all types of vehicles buses, caravans, tents of all sizes. There is also remote riverside camping for self-contained vehicles only.
This camp is easily accessible in a level garden setting, and is only 6kms from Havelock. The ablution facilities are first class, with a disability unit, and the kitchen is excellent with a covered outside dining BBQ area. A good laundry and a comfortable TV and games room are provided in the 'Deadwood Saloon'. Trampoline and volleyball are available, the local river is good for trout fishing and many activities can be accessed from Havelock including the mail boat run. Don’t be put off by the industrial suburb approach to this camp, as the
immaculate grounds are shaded by established pohutakawa trees and have
views of the bush-clad ranges. There are both grass and hardstand sites for
mobile homes,125 powered sites and 60 tent sites. Spacious grounds boast
a well-equipped adventure playground with a huge jumping pillow for the kids.
There are 3 good kitchens with dining halls and fridge lockers that can be hired.
Amenities include spacious toilets, showers and disabled access facilities, with
2 family bathrooms and 3 coin-operated automatic laundries. Along with
the spa, Sky TV room and new outdoor BBQ area, the games room will be a
hit with the kids, with a pool table, air hockey, table tennis, video game arcade

grouped sites, offering an away-from-it-all environment that has wekas in
residence. This camp is set up with families in mind, as you enter the camp
you will see the mini golf course where you can take some shots. there
is also a great children’s playground, and parents can watch from the new
outside deck and covered BBQ area. Plenty of room for all, there are 65
sites with power, plus numerous tent sites. The bright sunny kitchen, with
stove and fridge and all other amenities, is alongside a large TV/social room
with internet access. The smart ablutions have roomy showers, a child’s bath,
and dressing space with a seat, while all laundry facilities are automatic and
plentiful. A pleasant leafy retreat, brim-full of birdlife with an aviary for the
bird fanciers and chooks to feed. Wifi is available for a small fee, there is a free
