11 km north of Thames, at the gateway to the western Coromandel coast, this
mature attractive camp, in a garden-setting, offers a range of casual campsites
amongst the well-tended weekenders. Easy access to the beach makes it a
popular spot for boaties, and the camp offers boat parking, a boat wash and
fish cleaning facilities. Powered sites have hard stands for vans, and tents can
be accommodated in a new grassy glade near the rear of the camp. The
central, smart amenities are tiled, with metered showers and there are 3 other
toilet blocks provided. The well-used kitchen has island sinks, with plenty of
appliances; or head outside to the picnic and BBQ shelter for alfresco dining.
At the entrance are a dairy for supplies and a takeaway shop for nights when
cooking is a chore. An automatic laundry and dump station is provided.

of many summers is opposite the local hotel which serves food. It has a
well-stocked camp store. The sites are level and able to accommodate large
vehicles; some sites have shade or beachfront access. Kids can muck about in
the stream or on the beach. There are two kitchens, compact and clean, with
appliances and fridge/freezers. A variety of ablutions (some metered) are
dotted across the camp, with two attractive disabled access suites and plenty
of toilets and family showers. Two automatic laundries and a dump station are

At Tapu, turn inland and head 2.5 km up the sealed Tapu-Coroglen Road (take care as the road is narrow in places). Here, close to the water gardens and sculpture park, you will find a delightful camp with personality in a lovely rural streamside setting. 20 sites with power are tucked into well-planted grounds., There is a smoke house and modern toilets and showers. Picnic and/or cook in the BBQ shelter or make use of the porch kitchen that has gas hobs, pizza oven and a sink. The river has been dammed for a swimming hole. This very popular camp commands a prime position on the beach front.
Follow the signs to Long Bay from the main T-intersection in the middle of
Coromandel township. Discover why this spot is such a great place for fishing!
The camp has two distinct waterfront areas, Long Bay and Tucks Bay. Tucks
Bay has long-drop toilets and no power, but is quietly appealing. The Long
Bay site has bright, clean amenities. The roomy metered showers are tiled
and there appears to be ample modern toilet facilities. The compact kitchen
has two stoves, microwave and TV. A gas BBQ in a roofed shelter offers
a pleasant dining alternative. An automatic laundry and dump station are
provided. Ideally suited for the boatie, fish-cleaning and smoking facilities are
on hand. At the camp entrance, the on-site shop has basic supplies including
expresso coffee, ice creams, bait and ice and a public phone. The camp has
100 sites, 50 with power and most with spectacular views across the bay. Your

This holiday park is on the site of the old Whangapoua Forestry Headquarters.
It Is located at the top of the Whangapoua Harbour on a large area of flat
rural land. Just beyond the harbour is the iconic Whangapoua Beach and the
stunning world renowned New Chum Beach.The beach has been voted “one
of the top twenty beaches In the world and is an unspoilt paradise accessible
only by foot. Matarangi Beach and two boat ramps are within 10km radius
and there is a café just 200m from the park. No dogs are permitted. The
park is within the Whangapoua Kiwi Habitat zone. A restored modern clean
kitchen has a large sun deck There is an ablution block complete with hot
water showers, toilets and laundry facilities. The camping area is large and flat
so can easily cater for large vehicles. Fresh water is available, wifi available, and
new playground has just been installed. The camp is 6km from the beginning

DESCRIPTION:
An absolute beachfront camp, 15 minutes north of Coromandel. Designed
as a water-lover’s retreat, the camp is ideal for families with safe swimming. It
is bordered by an extensive pebbly beach and a pretty tidal creek. Two boat
ramps and plenty of boat parking are available. Your $3 ramp fee entitles you
to use the tractor, vehicle & trailer parking, fish cleaning facility and boat wash
(sorry, no discount for those who come home fishless!). There are kayaks
for hire, or hire a water taxi. The camp sites are level and have some lovely
pohutukawa trees for shade. The pleasant grounds are liberally dotted with
communal buildings that include a well-kept kitchen with plenty of appliances,
TV and fridge/freezer; a porch-style laundry, good bathrooms with metered
showers, separate toilets and disabled suite access. Stock up at the camp store
that is open daily. Petrol and diesel pumps and a public phone are at the front.
