At the eastern end of Torere, head up the hill and turn left at the sign
“Bookbinder/Pig Dog training School” and head down a short, unsealed road

gravel road from the quiet beach. There is no kitchen, but a small shed has
an agitator washing machine and a freezer and there are 2 toilets. There is
rain water on site. No parties please. There are 5 power sites and space for
about 10 tents. Your friendly host, renamed “ the Mexican Maori,” is Joshua
Kauta who lives in the house up the steep drive above the campsite. Joshua
will sing and entertain you if you ask him. All sites are from $5 per person.
