Just off S Hwy 1 a short distance from the Far North Road, you will find camping above the road on terraced sites to maximize the views over Pukenui and the harbour. On the upper level there are about 40 sites, most with power, even in the high season there is usually a spot available. Many power sites have sewerage and water connections. Lots of private nooks-and-crannies have surrounding trees and hedges. There are excellent facilities on each level, which we found to be top notch in the cleanliness stakes including a kitchen with plenty of fridge space, a covered seating area is alongside a free BBQ, and freezer space may be hired. There is a coin operated laundry and free showers. Following the signs you will find farmyard animals including a goat, sheep, miniature ponies and a number of birds and fowls. You can feed and pet most of them, and getting a selfie with Rambo the sheep adds a point of difference to your stay. This camp is also pet friendly.
