Wharariki Beach Holiday Park is the northern most holiday park at the top of the South Island. This eco-friendly accommodation complex is privately owned and set amongst Department of Conservation farm land. There are eight power sites in the landscaped grounds, plus 37 tent sites. A nice main building houses a large kitchen with gas hobs and other facilities, plus a spacious dining area with a large polished (from local milled timber) wooden slab table as its focal point. There is also a pool table in this area as well as an outside covered deck with sofas and chairs, and a view to the surrounding countryside. Ablutions have large coin-operated gas heated showers. A men_s urinal is available and unisex toilets which include a large disability suite. There is a children_s playground and BBQ area. Take a 20 minute walk over the farm land to Wharariki Beach, which is famous for its sunsets, the wonderful Archway Islands and you may be lucky enough to see seals, and seal pups basking and swimming here too. A gorgeous caf_ made from milled trees off the property is nestled in the bush by the DoC car park on the edge of the camp, and there are numerous walks close by. The nearest shop is 30 km back from the park. A site will cost you $18 per adult, and if you want power it is an extra $5 per site, children\’s prices on application.
