The 6 km detour to Okoroire from Tirau is well worth a visit to the Okoroire Hot Springs Hotel Camp! A restored country hotel and restaurant forms the hub of the community, and administers the delightful little camp nearby. The campsites are nestled on a bush-ringed knoll, with the tinkling sounds of the stream below. There are just 6 powered sites but plenty of room for tents. An oasis of hot thermal pools can be found in a private grotto, there are walking tracks through the bush, and the waterfalls of the Waihou River close by. A 9-hole golf course is right beside the camp. The simple facilities have character, and include separate toilets and a single shower. Campers can access the hotel coin operated laundry and an extra charge is levied for pool use. Your host is Travis Park. Costs are $25 per adult and $13 per child per Powered Site and $22 per adult and $11 per child per Non-Powered Site. All campground sites include a key to the Hot Springs. This campground is open all year round now.
