Battle Hill Farm Forest Park is an attractive Regional Park campsite is reached off the Paekakariki Hill Road only 6km north of the Pauatahanui intersection. Enjoy the wide open spaces of rural Wellington and camp in a grassy little dell surrounded by hills and bush and complete with friendly woolly lawnmowers (sheep)! The 500 hectare farm park is a haven for picnickers, walkers, cyclists and horse riders and has many historical features that date from colonial times. Paddle with the kids in the small camp side stream or take a walk to the old battle site at the top of the hill, following the new interpretation trail. Camping is open 365 days of the year. We now operate on a first come, first serve basis only. We do not take bookings. Basic toilet and basin facilities (with wheelchair access) are cold water only and there is a drinking water tap. Gas BBQ_s are permitted (BYO). Because of the livestock and protected wildlife here, no dogs are permitted - even in vehicles. This park is closed at night and served by an on-site ranger. For group bookings, check with the ranger. The maximum number of campers is 120 people.
Facilities
- Flushing toilets
- Dell carpark electric BBQ at no extra charge - please clean it after use

Campervans
Campervans and caravans are welcome to park anywhere in the designated camping area. We do not recommend crossing the ford to the farthest campsites with long buses or campervans. We have limited gravel areas for caravans in the winter and recommend caravans to avoid camping at Battle Hill from June to September.
There is no dumping station at Battle Hill.
