DESCRIPTION:

Look for this park at the foot of the hill, just after you leave Hicks Bay. The
grounds are lush with shady trees and a short walk over the bridged stream,
through the paddock and you are down on the beach. Sites are level with
plenty of taps. The on-site store is well-stocked and has a full liquor licence,
open from 7am till 7pm. There are 80 tent sites, 38 with power. Sea kayaks
and mountain bikes are available for hire and the area is great for a swim,
surf, or fish. Outdoor camp lighting is minimal (good for stargazing) so make
sure you bring a torch. The kitchen has individual preparation areas and
conventional cooking. The basic ablutions have vanity areas and good, roomy
showers. There is an automatic laundry and a car wash is provided. Please
note, drinking water here should be boiled. An on-site food caravan operates
in peak times. There is an on-site shop, bottle store and diesel filling station
too. Your friendly host is Bill. Tent sites are from $15 and powered sites from
$17 per person. Eftpos is available.

DESCRIPTION:

Te Kaha is around 70 km east of Opotiki. At the entrance to this park is a
7-day general store, with off-licence and a café'e that offers takeaway meals.
The colourful gardens are prolifc, with hedges and trees and the beach is just
300m away. You will find over 100 level lawn sites, most with power. The well
equipped kitchen has boiling water on tap. The bright, clean ablution block
has metered showers. In the laundry there is commercial equipment and a
freezer. Fish-cleaning and smoking facilities are on-hand and permits for boat
launching are available. There is a play area for children. Your hosts are Hone
and Helen. Tent sites are from $14 to $16 per adult, powered sites from $15
to $18. (Seasonal rates apply).

DESCRIPTION:

14 km west of Whakatane, at the very end of Thornton Beach Road, lies this attractive beachfront camp, known for its shellfish, line fishing, and safe swimming situated at the mouth of the Rangitaiki River. Whale and White Islands are visible off-shore and the ocean beach stretches out in front of you. Camp across several sheltered terraces, on flat, open sites, where there are 99 with power and water. Check-in at the new office/shop by the barrier arm - where there are ample provisions available (including bait and tackle). For boaties there is a wharf and boat ramp nearby. A brand new, stunning and spacious amenity block includes a modern kitchen with all the usual appliances. Fantastic ablutions with unisex shower rooms (metered in the summer), and two disabled access units plus three family suites. An automatic laundry and dump station are provided and large vehicles can easily be accommodated. Thoughtful touches include a new children_s play area, movie nights in the great covered dining hall during summer, a coffee vending machine and wireless hotspot will be appreciated by campers. Your friendly hosts are Glenn and Louise. The littlest campers have not been forgotten with highchairs and portacots available free of charge. All sites are from $20 per adult and $10 for children. DESCRIPTION:

We are not 5 star resort style camping but our facilities are always clean and tidy. We're proud of our history and our Trip Advisor reviews are testament to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere within the park.

With the Dunes section of the Motu Trails right in front of the camp you can either choose to relax or go for a safe walk, jog or cycle and explore the coastline. Visit the Opotiki township where supplies and a good coffee are only a few minutes away. Alternatively, for the necessities and fresh fish and chips the Tirohanga Beach Store is right next door!

We are also a pet friendly camp all year round. To accommodate pets, we have a designated area and its own beach access.

DESCRIPTION:

This camp is tucked behind the general store and petrol station on SHwy 35
set on a flat grassy paddock that backs onto a stream. Close to the road,
seven powered sites are available and theres plenty of flat tent space. The
tidy kitchen is equipped with gas cooking, microwave and fridge. Ranchsliders
open to a deck and there is a basic TV lounge. A dump station is available and passers-by can fill up their campervan water for $5. The ablutions are wellloved and include a disabled access unit and communal change areas in the showers. An automatic laundry and a BBQ are available. Mark and Lisa and
her team at the shop and Fish Shop will make you very welcome. Tent sites
are $12.50 per adult and children 5 years and over are $6, or with power they are $15 for adults or $7.50 for children 5 years and over.

This basic camp is in a wild, old garden right in Tikitiki. The tidy, level grounds
have 8 powered sites and heaps of tenting space. Nice shady trees are on
the boundary and there are some picnic tables. The Ladies ablutions are
satisfactory, the Mens less so and there is no kitchen or laundry. Meals and
takeaways are available at the RSA nearby. Your host is Franceen Collier. All

At the northern end of Waihi Beach is this large, immaculately-kept park, that offers a variety of interesting sites grouped into individual camping areas. The barrier arm entry ensures camp security and lots of mature trees, mainly pohutukawa, enhance the grounds. Choose from 70 powered sites, either in the main camp area at road level, or on the water_s edge across the road. A pretty stream divides the camp and you can feed the pet eels from the quaint footbridges. Plenty of smart ablutions and toilet blocks can be found throughout. Enjoy a modern central facilities block, with state-of-the-art fit-out in the caf_-style kitchen/dining area, ablutions and recreation areas. Everything has been thought of, with Sky TV lounge (huge screen!), gymnasium and sauna and a superb family room/nursery that is well-equipped with wet-day entertainment for the littlies. Even the superb laundry has had the treatment - with comfy seats and reading material provided. This attractive communal building spills out onto a landscaped dining/BBQ patio and pool area. Mountain bikes and surf boards may be hired. Aside from the nearby beach, the kids have a games room and great playground equipment, including jumping pillows, to enjoy. DESCRIPTION:

This delightful camp is in Waihi township tucked into a hidden valley 10 minutes
from Waihi Beach and the Karangahake Gorge walkways, and the newly
appointed Hauraki rail trail. There are 52 powered sites and unlimited tent
space spread across 10 acres of park-like grounds. Try down by the river, close
to the facilities or in the wide open spaces surrounded by mature trees and
gardens. It might be fun to take a walk to the gold and silver mines. The kids
will love chucking bread for the ducks, petting the pigs, giving the Suffolk sheep
a pat, or feeding the trout in the stream. They can then burn off some energy
in the large outdoor swimming pool, while the adults enjoy a well-appointed
kitchen with stoves, microwaves and fridge with outdoor BBQ/dining pergola
alongside. The smart ablutions have free showers with a disabled access suite.
An automatic laundry and dump point are provided. Gloria is your host. All

This campsite appears to have closed.

8 km north of Te Kaha and opposite the beach you will find another farm camping option, signposted, for independent campers. Shaded by big pohutukawa trees, it overlooks a beautiful rocky estuary. There is a water
supply, an outdoor cold water shower and two long drop toilets hiding in the trees. About 20 sites are available.

Located in rural Waitawheta near the town of Waihi, the camp is close to large areas of native New Zealand bush and rivers, including one of New Zealand's top ten natural attractions - the Karangahake Gorge and the Hauraki Rail Trail.

Whether it's tramping, cycling, kayaking, abseiling, exploring gold-mining heritage sites or travelling on the vintage rail train, there's so much to do in and around the camp.We are only 15 minutes drive from Waihi Beach, with pristine white sand beaches and coastal walkways. We have Kayaks for hire at the camp.There are fresh water swimming holes in the rivers close to the camp and at Dickeys Flat.

Just off the beaten track, at the Welcome Bay roundabout (SHwy 29), head
east for 4 km to the rural outskirts. Handy to the shopping centre, the camp
is alongside a sparkling, natural thermal pool complex (fed from a deep bore and emptied and cleaned daily) which is available free to campers. At the shop/offce you can buy ice creams and drinks. The compact campsite is set
in a secluded dell, with a bush backdrop and newly extended and refurbished amenities. There’s a modern, well-equipped kitchen, unisex toilets and singlesex showers, a new covered outdoor dining area, plus an automatic laundry.
It’s a short drive to Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. Your friendly hosts are
Fraser Berkett and Christine MacKay. There are 25 sites, costing $45 for 2
people.

There_s no passing traffic at this level, riverside camping ground that_s an ideal home-base for fishing trips. There are 70 sites with power, water and drainage, plus 40 tent sites across mature grounds peppered with willow trees. A substantial flood bank separates the park from the Whakatane River and it_s a 5 minute, riverside walk into town. There_s plenty of room for the kids to play, and an outdoor seasonal swimming pool. Internet access is in a wee _techno-caravan_. The roomy kitchen provides ample appliances and dining space, with a TV lounge and new, covered eatery next door. The main ablution block is clean and well presented, or you can experience vintage _kiwiana_ in the two other blocks! An automatic laundry and dump point are provided. Your friendly host is Noel. DESCRIPTION:

Between Opotiki and Motu at the junction of the Whitikau and Takaputahi
Streams is this basic remote campsite. Located at the entrance to Raukumara
Conservation Park it is a base for walks, fly fshing, mountain biking and hunting.
With space for around 16 tents, facilities include toilets, BBQ areas and water
supply from the stream.
