Drive over the Waitohi Stream and up the drive to the open grassed area with a railway viaduct above. Children can paddle in the stream, bounce on the trampoline or use the play area provided. There are plentiful ablutions with disability facilities and the carpeted TV lounge has a library, pool table and computer area. About 2km south of Hornby, and close to Templeton shops, is this camp on the
edge of SH1, with a number of long-termers and home-base buses, although
there is still the odd spot for the holidaymaker. Amenities include a TV room,
three kitchens, an ablution block (with disabled facilities) and a laundry. A gas
BBQ is available, and there are powered sites near the office for late arrivals.
A nearby garage has takeaway food or you can eat at the hotel, and there is a
dump station. Your hosts are Bob and Carol Christie. Powered sites are $45
for two people, with tent sites from $25 for two.

Paradise found is the slogan for this camp, and how right they are. What a beautifully situated camp this one is, within the foothills of the Mt Thomas Forest Conservation Area, this four star Qualmark park is amongst 12 acres of native bush and has the Ashley Gorge River within its bounds. The campground is part of the Ashley Gorge recreation area and is close to many popular walking tracks and good fishing in the river. Amongst the tent and power sites are many shady trees, lots of room and very peaceful. There is a dedicated pet camping area, none are allowed in the rest of the campground though. A clean, tidy kitchen and dining area has hobs, microwaves and fridge/freezer. Ablutions have excellent showers with funky coloured doors and vanities, and there is an automatic laundry. The standard of cleanliness in this camp is very high, you can tell that hosts Sally and Wayne love what they do. The kids will enjoy the playgrounds and are welcome to bring their bikes, there are also blow up tubes for hire to go down the river on. A great place for larger groups with exclusive use of some facilities available, and one of the added attractions is the late checkout in the off season. Eftpos is available as is wifi, and a good camp shop.

A picturesque 25 minute drive from Nelson, and 2hrs from Picton, turn off at the Cable Bay road at Hira and travel 8km further on a sealed road. This camp with stunning bay views is on the historic cable station site where the first telegraph link came from Sydney in 1876. Large mature native trees surround this camp, and an extra well-sheltered, tenting area over the creek includes a tenting oasis, and in the creek are tame eels. The ablutions are modern and spotless and include disability facilities, while the kitchen has gas hobs, microwaves, fridges and a BBQ under the front covered veranda. At the rear of the building is a laundry with auto washer and dryer. There is safe swimming at the beach, great kayaking, the Cable Bay walkway, a boat ramp (4WD only) and a safety trampoline for the children. Wifi is available and camping with dogs is by request, please book first. The whole area is steeped in history, so talk to your friendly hosts Josephine and Nigel whose family have been here since 1920.

What a beautiful setting this camping ground is in. A well cared for, tree
sheltered camp with numerous tent sites and 10 power points. You can enjoy
peace and quiet in a relaxed atmosphere. A round of golf maybe, or a walk
to the top of the hill to take in the views, perhaps you would like to try your
hand at fishing in the nearby rivers. A swimming pool with a deck, seating and
a BBQ is provided for your enjoyment. The roomy fully equipped kitchen/
dining area has been upgraded and there are plenty of tables and chairs, as well
as provision for outside dining. The laundry has new coin operated washers
and dryers, and the ablutions are very clean, with towels available for campers.

Pets are welcome by arrangement. Per night prices are, power sites are $35 for two, $25 for one. Non powered are $30 for two and $20 for one. Extra Adults are $10 each and Children are $5 each per night.

Attractively located in the heart of Collingwood, at high tide the camp is nearly
surrounded by water, and there are sea and estuary views throughout the
camp. There is a variety of sites, all on level ground, both shady and waterfront.
Two amenity blocks are provided, plus an area with ensuite cubicles, all clean
and tidy. The kitchen and dining has all appliances, crockery and cutlery are
available, and an adjoining cosy sitting room with internet access. Both rooms
have a TV and outside seating under the veranda is a nice spot. The laundry
has automatic washers and dryers. This is a great area for fisking, hiking and
swimming, and with a tennis court right next door as well, this is perfect for a

An attractive, cobbled park entrance leads to a modern office and spacious,
level grounds enhanced with large trees. With 270 power sites and almost as
many for tents, they are never full. There is a central service building which
includes a kitchen/dining/community room that is well supplied with appliances,
and an outside covered dining option is available. There is a well presented,
modern TV room and lounge with a dining option. A light and airy ablution
block is clean and modern, there are also unisex units and extra toilets around
the grounds. A second facilities block has been added with two family or
disability bathrooms that have under floor heating and a spa. In the laundry
there is a generous supply of automatic equipment and a waiting room with
TV. An outside attraction is a BBQ/dining complex with a sink. Children have
an adventure playground with a jumping pillow, and there is a dump point and
car wash. With a free wifi spot at the gate, and a card phone and an internet
kiosk with free wifi are available, you are all set for your electronic needs.
This is the heart of stone fruit country with a market garden across the road,

A full holiday experience, this property stretches along 1500 metres of tranquil lakefront with the Southern Alps rising steeply in the background. The children have a great playground, as well as acres of room to run around, and plenty of water to swim in. Of the two kitchens one has a big logburner with a sociable number of tables and chairs, and the large, covered outdoor BBQ area is a great success. DESCRIPTION:

Midway between Rotorua and Taupo, on the busy SH 5, is this once proud
camping ground. Unfortunately, it was looking a bit run down when we visited,
it is to be hoped that the new owners do a bit of garden maintenance to get it
back up to scratch. But if you don't want manicured lawns, this is an excellent
base for the great trout fishing nearby. There are 21 power sites divided by
boxed hedges, and a variety of tent sites - some down by the stream that
runs beside the camp. Bush tracks with boardwalks meander through the
lower part of the camp giving an nice setting to the natural thermal hot pools
provided free for people staying. There is a small kitchen with fridge and ovens,
and a TV room is available. The licensed restaurant is not open currently, but
hoping to be back up and running soon. Laundry machines are available as is
a free gas BBQ. All sites are $20 per adult per night, $12 per child and under
five are free.

An excellent location for hunting and bird watching, this complex has motorhome parks that are mostly sealed to cope with the coast weather, there are also a number of lawn sites however. A number of power sites have been formed close to the amenities recently. The modern and clean kitchen has everything supplied, including pots and pans. This adjoins an open plan dining and an attractive lounge that is pleasantly furnished. The ablutions are smart with and tidy, while the laundry has washing machines and dryers, as well as other extras. Showers will cost you 50c and a dump point is on site. The office doubles as a well-stocked shop, includes a credit card phone, and eftpos is accepted here. Dogs are welcome on prior arrangement only, and your hosts are Greg and Nathalie Hope. From Lake Benmore, take the turn off at the mountain end of Burkes Pass.
The journey is around 50km of unsealed road, but worth it if you want a
large lakefront camp with a boat ramp, fishing and boating. Owned by a
cooperative of enthusiastic campers, this is not luxury camping so you need
to be reasonably independent. Flush toilets are available but no showers, and there is a dump point here. Tent sites $20 per family, or a season ticket at $350 per annum.

There is a coin operated laundry with dryers and washing machines. A TV room with Freeview, and internet kiosk with wireless is available for a small fee. The ablution and kitchen areas are adjoined to a spacious inner courtyard. Here a large screen TV offers Sky, Sport, a Cartoon Network, UKTV and a variety of other channels for your enjoyment. The park is being added to almost continuously, 6 showers have been added this summer. You can fish, kayak, swim, surf, dive, set off on a day trip to Cathedral Cove and back, maybe dig your own hot pool, or enjoy the local cafes. Your hosts are Sheree and Grant. The hot pools are only accessible two hours each side of low tide. Don’t forget to take a spade.

From the town centre, follow the signs to the boat ramp at Karewa Beach and
you’ll spot this camp on the way. The closest camp to the hotwater beach
springs (4 km away) you can borrow a spade to create your personal ‘beach
spa’. The grounds are pleasantly landscaped with level lawn sites backing onto
avenues of willow trees. There are 14 powered sites available for travellers.
The kitchen is light and airy with microwave, full stove, hobs, fridge and freezer
and an outdoor dining nook. In the ablutions block the free showers have
been modernised and a new disabled access/family suite is provided. There is
a porch-style automatic laundry. A fish cleaning area and fish smoker are here.
Your friendly host is Grant Glazer. Pets by arrangement. $18 per person for

With a bush backdrop, lake views, and a marina at the end of the road, this
is boatie heaven. An old style campground that is ready for some attention.
The kitchen is small with usual appliances and some cutlery and cooking
utensils, alongside is a TV room with seating. The ablution blocks are large
and roomy but could do with a good clean. The laundry automatic washers
and a dryer and there is a dump point here. The reception area doubles as
the local shop, and Eftpos, credit card and email facilities are available here.
Lake Brunner offers trout fishing, beautiful walks, glow worms, and in summer
the lake is a good temperature for swimming. There is a stunning swing
bridge walk that starts just a few hundred metres away at the end of road
carpark. Your hosts are Grahame and Jacki Ott. Power sites $17, tent sites
$15, children under 12 are half price.

Well worth a trip to explore the wild southern coast! This camp is at the roadend, on the shores of Lake Onoke (Lake Ferry), a 1 hour drive from Wellington or a 20 minute drive from Martinborough. Popular for fishing, surfing, boating and access to the nearby Pinnacles, bird watchers are drawn to the nearby Onoke Spit just a pleasant walk from the camp. There is a boat launching area and a playground for children both at the camp and in the domain next door. Stunning views, plenty of trees and lake shore campsites make for an enjoyable stay. The amenities are large with a laundry, excellent showers and clean toilets. The kitchen has all the facilities , with an adjacent room for doing the dishes. A covered deck with picnic tables is off the kitchen.

DESCRIPTION:

Right on the edge of Lake Hawea, this is a large camping ground with sites
scattered amongst large established shade trees. There are 100 sites with
power and plenty of tent site, this camp is a great place to view the sunset with
the light shining on the mountains over the lake, which offers a stunning natural
show. The office carries basic supplies and information on all the activities in the area, and there is a big fire place to socialise around. wo basic but clean kitchens with all amenities, one with a TV, also internet access, and free DVD
hire. Two basic, clean ablution blocks and a disability unit, recently painted and
modernised. The shower and toilet block is tidy, and showers are included in
the price. The laundry has automatic equipment and linen to hire, and there is a boat ramp. You can use the camp fishing rods, fish cleaning facilities, plus a fish smoker is provided for your catch. Plenty of activities for children, with a
playground that includes a couple of old tractors, and safe swimming in the lake.
Dogs can stay off-peak (end of January to December 20) and there is 30 mins
free wifi for guests, or you can purchase a 24 hour card. Your hosts are the
Burdon family. Tent sites $17 per adult and power sites from $36 for two adults.

With 50 acres of large sites set amongst the pine trees, you won't have trouble
finding a spot to enjoy the peacefulness of this lakeside campground. There are
two central amenity blocks, that include modern kitchens and bathrooms, as
well as room for dining both inside and out. The tidy and stylishly corrugated
showers are free, and the laundry has excellent automatic equipment.
Scattered around the grounds are several unique outdoor camping facilities
- shower and toilets in new corrugated iron and wood buildings but with
open air feeling of the old long drops. There are also BBQs and picnic tables
placed in several places, and a dump point is provided. On the edge of Lake
Ruataniwha the swimming is great, with a jetty and slide right by the camp,
there are also several playgrounds.  At the office is a well-stocked shop where
eftpos is available, a card operated phone, and you can hire pedal cars, canoes,
paddle boards, etc from here too. Kura and Tony Ritchie will look after you
andthis is a pet friendly park. Non-powered tent sites are $17 per adult and

Enjoy a great feed of whitebait at this traditional West Coast pub. Camping is on level ground with 10 power and numerous tent sites, all on grass and with established plantings for shelter. The toilets and showers are all part of the hotel complex, and are clean and tidy. There is no kitchen but you may be able to borrow the BBQ, the washing machine is free and so is the wifi. A children_s playground and great swimming holes are available to entertain, good fishing, both sea and river. Your hosts Wayne and Andrea supply a pickup service to and from the Wangapeka track, and they sometimes allow people who aren't camping to use the showers for a small charge of $5. A well-concealed entrance leads to a dual purpose sports ground with provision
for camping around the edge of the field. There are 12 power sites tucked away
all over the place, it gets pretty full in summer. The showers have great pressure
of which there are five. Toilets are round the back
of the main block, there is no kitchen or lounge but an outside sink is provided.
Seating and a couple of fridges are underneath the verandah. The camp is
adjacent to a river with two good swimming holes or you can picnic or BBQ.
From his spot under the veranda, John is your on-site custodian. Unpowered
sites are $10 per person, powered sites $10 per person, kids year 9 down are free. The dump station is $2.

What a wonderful family holiday park this one is. With campsites
hidden in the larches, there are 48 powered sites and innumerable tent
sites. The renovated kitchen/living room has double glazing, a cosy
log burner for the winter months, and all the amenities needed. During
busy times, a secondary kitchen is also available. Laundry and drying
facilities and the roomy ablutions are bright and clean. Make sure you
bring your bikes, as there are extensive mountain bike trails all
around the camp, as well as an adventure playground and a swimming
dam, in the summer months, within metres of the edge of the park. The
historic gold-mining town of Naseby has many attractions such as year
round curling, and great pubs and a cafe, and It is also not far to
the Central Otago Rail Trail. The camp is open all year round, dogs

is a five minute walk to 90 Mile Beach. A central building contains all of the

South-west of New Plymouth, turn towards the coast off SHwy 45 onto Wairau Road and follow the camp signs for 13 kms. This is true beachfront camping at Taranaki's most popular swimming, surfing and windsurfing beach. Breathtaking views with just about every site looking out to sea. The camp is in two parts, with sites in the lower camp spread across two levels, some with stunning views of the Tasman Sea and others in a sheltered valley. The upper part is on a quiet terraced area above the main camp and is surrounded by bush and native birds. The amenities are good, although usage can be high at peak times. A well-equipped, sparkling kitchen has plenty of bench space and modern appliances. A great alternative is the BBQ. There are roomy showers and all the bathroom extras. Automatic machines can be found in the laundry and a dump station is provided. Although there are 117 sites with power plus 60 for tents, pre-booking for summer is advised. Okiwi Bay Holiday Park and Lodge is not right on the beach, but there is a boat ramp about 400 metres away. The grounds are neat and landscaped with 12 level sites, all have power and water and lovely sheltered trees. A shop is available with a good range of everyday supplies, and you can get your dive bottles filled, petrol or diesel and fill LPG bottles here. An immaculate kitchen has two full gas stoves and all other amenities, plus a BBQ, as well as a covered dining area outside. The ablutions are well designed, light and airy, with hand basins in the free shower and toilet cubicles plus a disability suite. Automatic machines are provided in the laundry, a phone is on-site and free wifi is available. So many things to do such as fishing, diving and scalloping, charter a boat, or take a guided trip. To find it, turn off State Highway 3 either at the supermarket if coming from the south, or just before the railway crossing if coming from the north.
