Right in the heart of one of New Zealand’s favorite summer holiday
destinations and in a prime location at the base of the Mount, lies this attractive
park complex. Hot salt-water pools are right at the entrance, ocean or
harbour water activities surround you and it’s a short stroll back from the
main beachfront boutique and cafÉ/bar precinct. Campers can choose from 3
separate terraced camping areas, each with its own spectacular views. Watch
the cruise ships enter the Port, kids playing on the white sandy surf beach or
soak up the soothing Bay of Plenty ocean views. The fully-modernised facilities
are superb and provide everything a camper needs, including a dump station
and thoughtful amenities for those camping with disabilities. In the popular
‘Ocean’ camp area, the new facilities block boasts a super-modern kitchen and
outdoor dining/BBQ area with sea views. Mark and the team will help you
relax and enjoy all the activities of the area. A minimum site charge applies:
$37 off-peak (for 1 to 2 adults) and bookings are essential in peak season.
Campers are asked not to bring pets. There is a Visitor information centre
onsite.

DESCRIPTION:

3 km west of Matata township, turn off over the railway crossing to an
attractive seaside site with plenty of shelter. This camp has room for casual
campers amongst the colourful long-term ‘weekenders’ in residence which give
the camp a real beachy feel. The land has a rolling contour and a choice of
shady or sunny sites, plus a kids’ play area and gas BBQs. Tidy amenities include
two kitchens, one with dining space, a fridge/freezers, stoves and microwave.
Two ablution blocks are provided, along with a disabled access suite. One of
the ablution blocks has another little kitchenette attached. The laundry has
automatic washing machines and dryers. A book exchange operates at the
office. Shane and Rebecca will accept pets by arrangement, they must be on
leads at all times. Tent sites are $16 per person and powered sites $18.

DESCRIPTION:

On the eastern tip of Ohiwa Harbour, this peaceful camp is 4 km off SHwy 2 and offers absolute beachfront camping. Spacious, level grounds ensure that a sea frontage site can often be found or there are elevated terraced sites with superb views. As well as beach entertainment, there_s a lawn area set aside for outdoor games, an inviting children_s playground and jumping pillow. For indoor activities, the games room offers table tennis and air hockey. Smart, centrally-placed amenities include a fully-equipped kitchen opening out to a breezeway dining area under a shade sail or fry your catch in the BBQ nook. A second open-air kitchen is available at the other end of the camp. The classy ablutions are ultra clean and have timed, coin operated showers. Fisherman can use the boat ramp, fish-cleaning area, smoker and fisherman_s fridge. An automatic laundry and dump station are provided. You_ll find your friendly hosts, Todd and Nola Morgan, in the office/shop where you can buy the essentials and get internet access (wireless hotspot or kiosks). Your hosts are striving towards a more environmentally sustainable camp so ask them how you can help! Pets by arrangement in the off-season. DESCRIPTION:

An all-round camping experience in a glorious location, this classic beachfront position has groomed grounds and well-appointed amenities. The beachfront vista is enhanced by the steaming White Island across the water. For boaties there is a ramp and jetty close by and an on-site fsh-cleaning area. Despite
having 260 sites with power and 120 for tents, this camp can be very busy
in summer. The extensive lawn sites are mostly flat with plenty of trees to
provide shady relaxation or choose from some lovely beachfront sites. A wellstocked seasonal shop means you can easily make use of the inviting stainless steel kitchen that opens to a central BBQ garden/dining area. Immaculately kept ablution blocks include a disabled access suite. There are a host of recreational facilities: tennis/basketball court, a pool and slide complex featuring two hydro waterslide rides and a splash park for the small children, mini golf, an adventure playground, trampolines, jumping pillow and even a beach volleyball court. If that’s not enough, on the second floor, you will fnd a TV and games room that has an outdoor deck. An automatic laundry and dump points are provided. Your hosts is Mark Inman. DESCRIPTION:

Well signposted, in the heart of the township and just across the road from
the beach, this complex offers all-purpose camping for families through to large
groups. Spread across two levels, one holds the services block and the other
space for 16 camp sites (10 with power). Make use of the well-equipped
communal kitchen, dining room and hall - all under one roof. There are plenty
of showers and toilets and an automatic laundry. All the town services
are close by. Your friendly managers are Paul and Daphne Atkinson. Sites
are from $15 per person. Seasonal rates apply and schools and groups most
welcome.

An immaculately groomed ‘garden-park’ set in a predominantly rural area, 19 km north of Tauranga. There are 40 powered sites and another 15 for tents,
all set amongst grounds lush with colourful flower beds and trees. The main
attractions are the 3 natural thermal pools to soak in. The offce offers a
mini-market for any basics you need when making use of the gleaming kitchen.
There are plenty of frst-class appliances including microwave, fridges and
freezer and room to dine under a huge covered patio/BBQ area that has
views to the nearby ranges. Excellent ablutions have timed showers and
a disabled access suite. There’s an adventure playground, pool room and a
‘comfy-cushion’ style TV room and camp library. Bruce and Sharon Addison
will accept pets by arrangement. All sites are from $20 per adult.

DESCRIPTION:

A rustic, beachside camp about 17 km east of Opotiki, it has tidy grounds with 80 sites, 40 with power. You can see White Island from the open sites, which have direct access to the white sandy beach with gorgeous sunsets and great fishing. A tidy communal building has basic amenities and a kitchen without refrigeration. The laundry is an experience with an old wringer washing machine in good working order. The hot water showers are free & ablutions are clean. This camp is run by the Jackson family, who will need cash or cheque only for payment. All tent sites are from $10 per person and powered sites are $12.50 per person per night. Your pet will cost $2.50 with a limit of one dog per group.

The entrance to the camp is marked by tall palms. Here you will find 30 powered sites on grass and all weather surface, along with up to 100 tent sites. The park is not beachside, but close to the river mouth and Opotiki town centre. It is 100 meters from the start of The Motu Cycleway. Facilities include a swimming-pool enclosure, an adventure playground for the kids and a common room for watching TV. The kitchen has all the usual equipment and an adjacent dining area with ranch-sliders. In the ablutions, the metered showers are tidy and they also offer a baby_s bath. An automatic laundry, internet access and dump point are provided. Your hosts are Raje and Pawan. Non powered sites are from $15 per adult and powered sites from $18 per adult.

A Games Room with table tennis etc.,outdoor hot pool and unusual circular _conversation area, with seating under a pergola, is to be found in the gardens. A BBq area and a kitchen that has, stoves, microwave, fridges and dining space. Smart _Adam_ and _Eve_ toilets and unisex metered (free) showers with disabled access facilities and a baby_s bath; and two coin operated laundries.
