DESCRIPTION:

Look for this park at the foot of the hill, just after you leave Hicks Bay. The
grounds are lush with shady trees and a short walk over the bridged stream,
through the paddock and you are down on the beach. Sites are level with
plenty of taps. The on-site store is well-stocked and has a full liquor licence,
open from 7am till 7pm. There are 80 tent sites, 38 with power. Sea kayaks
and mountain bikes are available for hire and the area is great for a swim,
surf, or fish. Outdoor camp lighting is minimal (good for stargazing) so make
sure you bring a torch. The kitchen has individual preparation areas and
conventional cooking. The basic ablutions have vanity areas and good, roomy
showers. There is an automatic laundry and a car wash is provided. Please
note, drinking water here should be boiled. An on-site food caravan operates
in peak times. There is an on-site shop, bottle store and diesel filling station
too. Your friendly host is Bill. Tent sites are from $15 and powered sites from
$17 per person. Eftpos is available.

Te Kaha is around 70 km east of Opotiki. At the entrance to this park is a
7-day general store, with off-licence and a café'e that offers takeaway meals.
The colourful gardens are prolifc, with hedges and trees and the beach is just
300m away. You will find over 100 level lawn sites, most with power. The well
equipped kitchen has boiling water on tap. The bright, clean ablution block
has metered showers. In the laundry there is commercial equipment and a
freezer. Fish-cleaning and smoking facilities are on-hand and permits for boat
launching are available. There is a play area for children. Your hosts are Hone
and Helen. Tent sites are from $14 to $16 per adult, powered sites from $15
to $18. (Seasonal rates apply).

14 km west of Whakatane, at the very end of Thornton Beach Road, lies this attractive beachfront camp, known for its shellfish, line fishing, and safe swimming situated at the mouth of the Rangitaiki River. Whale and White Islands are visible off-shore and the ocean beach stretches out in front of you. Camp across several sheltered terraces, on flat, open sites, where there are 99 with power and water. Check-in at the new office/shop by the barrier arm - where there are ample provisions available (including bait and tackle). For boaties there is a wharf and boat ramp nearby. A brand new, stunning and spacious amenity block includes a modern kitchen with all the usual appliances. Fantastic ablutions with unisex shower rooms (metered in the summer), and two disabled access units plus three family suites. An automatic laundry and dump station are provided and large vehicles can easily be accommodated. Thoughtful touches include a new children_s play area, movie nights in the great covered dining hall during summer, a coffee vending machine and wireless hotspot will be appreciated by campers. Your friendly hosts are Glenn and Louise. The littlest campers have not been forgotten with highchairs and portacots available free of charge. All sites are from $20 per adult and $10 for children. Seasonal rates apply.

DESCRIPTION:

We are not 5 star resort style camping but our facilities are always clean and tidy. We're proud of our history and our Trip Advisor reviews are testament to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere within the park.

With the Dunes section of the Motu Trails right in front of the camp you can either choose to relax or go for a safe walk, jog or cycle and explore the coastline. Visit the Opotiki township where supplies and a good coffee are only a few minutes away. Alternatively, for the necessities and fresh fish and chips the Tirohanga Beach Store is right next door!

We are also a pet friendly camp all year round. To accommodate pets, we have a designated area and its own beach access.

This camp is tucked behind the general store and petrol station on SHwy 35
set on a flat grassy paddock that backs onto a stream. Close to the road,
seven powered sites are available and theres plenty of flat tent space. The
tidy kitchen is equipped with gas cooking, microwave and fridge. Ranchsliders
open to a deck and there is a basic TV lounge. A dump station is available and passers-by can fill up their campervan water for $5. The ablutions are wellloved and include a disabled access unit and communal change areas in the showers. An automatic laundry and a BBQ are available. Mark and Lisa and
her team at the shop and Fish Shop will make you very welcome. Tent sites
are $12.50 per adult and children 5 years and over are $6, or with power they are $15 for adults or $7.50 for children 5 years and over.

about 10 tents. Your friendly host, renamed “ the Mexican Maori,” is Joshua
Kauta who lives in the house up the steep drive above the campsite. Joshua
will sing and entertain you if you ask him. All sites are from $5 per person.

have 8 powered sites and heaps of tenting space. Nice shady trees are on
the boundary and there are some picnic tables. The Ladies ablutions are
satisfactory, the Mens less so and there is no kitchen or laundry. Meals and
takeaways are available at the RSA nearby. Your host is Franceen Collier. All
