DESCRIPTION:
Off Cook Flat Road is this large and well-presented camp with stunning views. Tents can set up under the shady trees on a large grassed area, while hard stands are provided for vehicles. Most have lovely grass strips between them and some of the sites are extra-large with good access for buses. The two kitchens are well equipped with full stoves, hotplates and fridge/freezers and a dining space with a separate TV and internet room. A clean ablution block has a disability/family suite, plus a children_s bath and a laundry with up-to-date automatic equipment. The other two sets of ablutions are well appointed and clean with well-lined roomy showers serviced by gas water heating and hairdryers. You can cook inside in the kitchen with all amenities or outside under the covered BBQ area. All the mod cons here, and everything is immaculately presented and clean as a whistle, and you will appreciate the under floor heating in the bathrooms if staying in winter! A great adventure playground has been provided for the children, as well as pedal cars for hire. Parents, however, will love the new spa room. Other amenities include a dump point, phones and free internet, while there is a licensed restaurant with takeaways close by. Your adventure trips can start here with many activities to choose from and a no charge booking service. Your friendly hosts are Nick and Claire. Camping at $22 per person, children $10. A tidy camp next to the Turnbull River and Hapuka Estuary, enjoy fishing in the river, net some whitebait, or go for a bush walk. Don\'t be fooled by the name though, as this camp is next to a river, not the beach which is five minutes_ drive away. There are 50 powered sites and as many for tents. the camp is generously supplied with amenities. There are two old but clean kitchen/dining rooms, one has a spacious living room with a diesel burner, good furnishings and TV. The ablutions are plentiful, one basic and one modern, but both clean and tidy plus one with a disability suite. Cape Cod chairs under the verandah with the BBQs, and picnic tables are positioned around the camp. There is an excellent laundry, the camp store is well stocked, and internet is available. Your friendly hosts are Alf and Lorriane. Tent sites are $15 per adult, powered sites are $36 for two, while children aged 5 to 15 years are $8 and under five years are free.

An excellent location for hunting and bird watching, this complex has motorhome parks that are mostly sealed to cope with the coast weather, there are also a number of lawn sites however. A number of power sites have been formed close to the amenities recently. The modern and clean kitchen has everything supplied, including pots and pans. This adjoins an open plan dining and an attractive lounge that is pleasantly furnished. The ablutions are smart with and tidy, while the laundry has washing machines and dryers, as well as other extras. Showers will cost you 50c and a dump point is on site. The office doubles as a well-stocked shop, includes a credit card phone, and eftpos is accepted here. Dogs are welcome on prior arrangement only, and your hosts are Greg and Nathalie Hope. An oldie but a goodie as the saying goes. Stop in at the office on the way down to the domain camp, you will pass it on your way in to this spot on the edge of the sea, and at the heart of the Mokihinui community. With plenty of level land, either on the sports field or beside the beach, this camp has a tavern near the entrance and the sea over the bank at the back where there is excellent fishing, and whitebaiting in the river. Some old trees make this a lovely picnic area. Around the playing field are 21 sites, which have power and taps, the main amenities are a central kitchen with three full stoves, fridge, tables and chairs. The main ablution block has clean tiled showers and toilets, with another block of toilets available in the busy season, and there are automatic machines in the laundry. Added extras include a herb garden and book exchange, and your friendly hosts, Joan and Basil, invite you to participate in the yearly Xmas fishing competition, or come and put your torpedo out at any time. Walking distance to the Fox Glacier guide office, cafe and local pub there are 22 power sites that form a two-tier radius around the centre of the camp. popular stop for cyclists. You can hitch your wagon to one of the 16 power
sites that are ranged on hard ground, under big shade trees and manicured
grass. The grounds beside the hotel are level and open, with neat lawn sites
that have taps and sumps as well as BBQ tables. Campers may use the hotel

complex, good luck finding them though as they are not well sign posted.

Out beyond the hurly burly of the township, is this park complex that enjoys views of the mountains that are breath taking. Around 100 powered sites are ranged around the rear of the property, away from the road and with that view. All are on hard stands with a grassed area between, and a picnic table, while tents are ranged on the grassed areas. Two blocks of facilities offer large open plan kitchen and dining areas, including highchairs, and plenty of windows to let in the view. The ablutions are modern and all are spotlessly clean, the laundry has the normal washer and dryer, but the added benefit of a tub as well. There is a covered BBQ area where you can sit and watch the children on the playground, but if the weather turns bad, the games room has a pool table, arcade games, and table hockey, while the TV room is right next door. All activities can be booked from here, including helicopter rides, or take a walk up Paganini Hill for a fantastic view of the mountains. Your friendly hosts are Melissa and Cameron Blanchfield.
