Approximately 38kms from Blenheim along the Nelson Lakes Road, you will find this quiet naturist camping in five acres of beautiful park-like gardens with sheltering trees. The Wairau River is a short distance away for fishing and skinny dipping or enjoy a spa/sauna and the solar powered swimming pool. This basic camp is in a wild, old garden right in Tikitiki. The tidy, level grounds
have 8 powered sites and heaps of tenting space. Nice shady trees are on
the boundary and there are some picnic tables. The Ladies ablutions are
satisfactory, the Mens less so and there is no kitchen or laundry. Meals and
takeaways are available at the RSA nearby. Your host is Franceen Collier. All
sites are $10 per person

As soon as you drive into this camp, you can tell it is well looked after. Everything is newly painted and the grounds are well maintained. Camping is on an open area with landscaped grounds and established trees, some hard stands are available too.. There is a roomy, well-appointed kitchen and dining area, with all cooking and eating utensils, and a TV lounge, complete with piano. The setup reminds you of being at home, it is that sort of place. The ablutions, including a disability unit, are lined and spotless, they even smelled nice! There are laundry facilities with auto machines, BBQs are available, and an adventure playground, a council domain across the road gives even more playground. A great area for fishing, walking or just relaxing, your cheerful new hosts are Kara and Brent. Pets are welcome here, there is wifi available, as well as a dump station. Camp on flat grassy sites, surrounded by beautiful native bush and mature trees alive with native birds. Some camp sites are in spacious private bays with taps spread around the camp. At the northern end of Waihi Beach is this large, immaculately-kept park, that offers a variety of interesting sites grouped into individual camping areas. The barrier arm entry ensures camp security and lots of mature trees, mainly pohutukawa, enhance the grounds. Choose from 70 powered sites, either in the main camp area at road level, or on the water_s edge across the road. A pretty stream divides the camp and you can feed the pet eels from the quaint footbridges. Plenty of smart ablutions and toilet blocks can be found throughout. Enjoy a modern central facilities block, with state-of-the-art fit-out in the caf_-style kitchen/dining area, ablutions and recreation areas. Everything has been thought of, with Sky TV lounge (huge screen!), gymnasium and sauna and a superb family room/nursery that is well-equipped with wet-day entertainment for the littlies. This delightful camp is in Waihi township tucked into a hidden valley 10 minutes
from Waihi Beach and the Karangahake Gorge walkways, and the newly
appointed Hauraki rail trail. There are 52 powered sites and unlimited tent
space spread across 10 acres of park-like grounds. Try down by the river, close
to the facilities or in the wide open spaces surrounded by mature trees and
gardens. It might be fun to take a walk to the gold and silver mines. The kids
will love chucking bread for the ducks, petting the pigs, giving the Suffolk sheep
a pat, or feeding the trout in the stream. They can then burn off some energy
in the large outdoor swimming pool, while the adults enjoy a well-appointed
kitchen with stoves, microwaves and fridge with outdoor BBQ/dining pergola
alongside. The smart ablutions have free showers with a disabled access suite.

You are in the heart of farm country in this council owned camp, which is
closed in winter from May to September. Mainly populated by the same
families returning year after year, you will need to book if you want to squeeze
in. There is a large, level grassed area with several trees and hedges. 64 sites
have power and there is an abundance of tent sites. Amongst the amenities
is a useful kitchen (which doubles as a dining and library facility) with two full
stoves, microwaves, pots, utensils and fridge/freezers. The ablutions have been
newly refurbished and there are automatic machines and dryer in the laundry.
This area is popular for fishing and golfing and there is a good swimming hole
in the nearby river. No dogs please, your friendly hosts are Graeme and Kaye.
All sites are $12.50 per adult, $6 for children.

A smart, holiday complex with direct access to the beautiful Waikanae Beach
and just a few minutes stroll to Gisborne shops. This is a large camp with
133 powered sites. It can be intensely camped at times. Sites are level, with
some enjoying a shady aspect. The grounds are securely fenced and hedged
around the perimeter. There are open spaces for volleyball and an electric
BBQ area is a popular get-together spot. The amenities blocks function
well, with plentiful hot water and vanity areas in the ablutions. The large kitchen and laundry are well-equipped with appliances (bring own pots) Hire
a racquet and enjoy a game of tennis on the seaside courts with spectacular
views across to the white cliffs of Young Nicks Head or hire some wheels and
bike around the waterfront. Theres a kids play area, TV/games room too and
holiday entertainment may be offered in the summer. No pets please. A

Waikare Road, Putorino. Department of Conservation (06) 834-3111
Turn off SHwy 2 at Putorino into Waikare Road, and then travel for 20 minutes
on an unsealed road along the south bank of the Waikare River. At the road
end you will fnd a level, open site for basic camping that can accommodate 4
tent sites. Its ten minutes walk to the beach for fshing, swimming and boating
(including boat ramp). Facilities here are toilets, picnic tables and water from
a tap (that must be boiled before drinking)

It's great to see a campground with lots of quirky objects scattered around, from the robot that meets you at the entrance to the sites, to the hedge face. Here you will find level sites on gently rising land with good shade trees. An inviting outdoor eating area has a BBQ and pizza oven with seating around, all sheltered by a trellis and pergola. In the kitchen is an island with hobs, microwave and fridge, plus small appliances. The ablution block is light and bright with plenty of good hot showers. In the laundry are automatic washing machines dryers and an iron. All amenities are clean and tidy. There is a children’s play area, trampoline and cricket pitch, and a popular solar heated swimming pool as well as a TV room. Children can borrow DVDs at no
charge. A peaceful setting great for a family, individual, backpacker or groups.
There are large spacious sites for campervans, caravans and tents, and it is a gentle stroll to the beach, marina or restaurants. It is also handy to two boat launch pads. Your hosts are Felicity, Richard and family. All sites from $16 per adult, $7.50 per child.

8 km north of Te Kaha and opposite the beach you will find another farm camping option, signposted, for independent campers. Shaded by big pohutukawa trees, it overlooks a beautiful rocky estuary. There is a water
supply, an outdoor cold water shower and two long drop toilets hiding in the trees. About 20 sites are available.

The owner wishes to advise that these premises have been closed for renovations.

In a rural setting at the Waikene Reserve, you can find this spot 3 km off State
Highway 70, and 25 km south of Kaikoura. There is camping in an area separate
from the lodge, with sunny spots and some shelter from trees. Facilities are
clean, fresh and friendly and include a kitchen, toilets, showers, and laundry
facilities. You’ll have views across to the inland Kaikouras. Powered sites $35
for two, unpowered $30 for two.

Adjoining the thermal pool complex is a 26-site camp ground featuring powered and non-powered sites. There are shower, laundry and kitchen facilities plus a thermally-heated drying room available for campers to use during their stay.
At time of reservation please nominate either powered or non-powered site and provide a clear description  of your camping mode, i.e Camper van (size), Caravan, tent etc.

Campers get unlimited free access to the pool complex (excluding our private pools) to enjoy the luxurious ‘Living Waters’ of Waikite Valley Thermal Pools.

One of those basic beach camp grounds that are sadly becoming rare. 50 power sites on well drained, flat ground. The large kitchen is basic but clean, and there is plenty of freezer and refrigerator space, and an outside covered dining area. Older toilet facilities are clean and tidy, and the laundry includes auto washers and a dryer. There is a trampoline for children, and
pushbikes available to use. It sounds like they have a lot of fun at this camp,
with a stage out back for musical entertainment and the odd golf tournament
with the locals. A short stroll down the road is a small pub, no doubt a
welcome sight on a hot day. Internet is available and your hosts are Stu and
Angie. Tent sites are $20 per adult, $30 for two adults, $13 for an extra adult
and $7 for children. Power sites are $23 per adult, $32 for two adults, $15 for
an extra adult and $10 for children.

A true oceanside camp, the interesting layout of meandering sealed roads and grouped campsites make for a community atmosphere. At the entrance is an office/camp store leading to the spacious grounds where three clean and well-equipped kitchens and two gas BBQs are provided with a covered eating area. Dispersed in various areas are four clean ablution blocks with good showers ($1 coin) and a disability suite. Two large laundry rooms, complete with book lending libraries, and a toddlers/babies wash and changing room. Whitebaiting in season, fishing, surfing or swimming are yours to enjoy, this camp is well suited for a family holiday with an onsite playground as well as another playground and paddling pool just down the road. Wifi is available, there is also a TV and seating in a well-renovated container as well as a herb garden outside. Your friendly hosts are Rex and Debbie Jefcoate. The sealed road to Waimarama winds through rural hill country, 30 minutes drive from Havelock North. This large, flat, seaside camp has 30 caravan sites and 18 powered tent sites available, with the adjoining paddock used in peak periods. It is safe for children with one gate in and out. The golden, sandy beach is surf patrolled during the summer. From the camp it is a two minute walk to the domain and beach. The small and well-loved kitchen has gas cookers, microwave and fridge. The ablutions consist of two toilets and two coin operated showers (one with a shub/bath) each for men and women, plus a disabled access toilet. There is a small play area for toddlers. Three gas BBQs are available in an under-cover dining area. Your hosts are Karen and Ed who can be found at 15 Harper Street when the office is closed. Powered sites are $25 and un-powered $20 for adults, children (under 13) are half price and under 5s free.

Really get away from it all at the Waingaro Hot Springs and camp, 24 km west
of Ngaruawahia next to the Waingaro Hotel. Camp on 40 powered sites set
on pleasant sunny terraces (divided by bush and shrubbery) above the pools.
The amenities are small, with a functional kitchen and a communal room with
kitchenette. The well-used ablutions are in three blocks and extra toilets
are handily placed about the grounds. Two automatic laundries and a dump
station are provided. There are plenty of BBQs, picnic tables and children’s
play areas about the grounds. Although the camp store at the entrance has
limited supplies, we advise campers to stock-up in advance. Please do not
bring dogs here. Your hosts are Chood and Amro Singh. All sites are from
$22 per adult and under 12 years $12.50.

Around the back of the hotel you will find a large open flat area for camping.
Plenty of room for large vehicles. The toilets and shower facilities are in the
hotel. Food is available in the hotel (Bistro). Home of the famous Waipap
burger. Your host is Jayne and camping costs $10 per night per person.

Don't expect manicured lawns and clearly marked sites in this cute little camp with a difference. Lovely gardens hide a multitude of historic railway guard vans, five powered sites and the room for tents. You can cook a meal at the station kitchen which doubles as a dining room. A lovely outside dining and BBQ area, covered with climbing plants and including a swing seat, is available also. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and the separate TV and recreation room includes comfy seating and a large TV. The ablutions area is clean, and have free showers, there is also a coin operated laundry available. A children's play area has a climbing frame and there is a large chess set on the paving stones. Your friendly hosts are David and Karen. Amberley is just 10km away for supplies, and please note there is no eftpos available. Power sites are $30 for two plus $10 each extra person, a tent site is $25 plus $10 per extra person.

This is a well signposted camp, 35 km north of Napier. Take the Tongoio Road loop from the Napier end and you'll find the road sealed all the way to the farm gate. The camp is set on a low plateau overlooking the bay and lagoon with bush-clad hills behind. The attractive golden sandy beach, is fairly sheltered, safe for swimming, has good fishing and is directly accessed from the camp. The lagoon is popular for small children. There are 16 power sites with taps and sumps around the grounds and plenty of room for tents. The kitchen provides 2 large freezers, a bait freezer and 2 glass door fridges, hotplates, an oven for cooking and small appliances. The bright ablutions include a disabled access/family suite and gas showers $1.00 for a six-minute shower. An automatic laundry and a dump point are provided. There is also a good sized dining/lounge area and a covered BBQ pagoda with seating and superb sea views. A kids play area is on site and bikes are welcome or head into one of the great bush walks. Bring supplies with you, as only basic items can be bought at the camp. Wireless internet is available. Please do not bring your dog. Your friendly hosts are Shane, Fay and family. (a) Off SH43 near Te Puia Springs, follow signs to Waipiro Bay. On the beachfront below the marae and historic church, is a flat grassy freedom camping area beside beautiful sandy safe beach. There are toilets (for day visitors) and shady Norfolk pines. (b) From Waipiro Bay township, follow McIlroy Road 1km to the beach for freedom camping on flat grassy sites beside the beach. Good fishing. Chemical waste disposal provided.

Located on Waipoua River Road 1km from State Highway 12 in the heart of the Waipoua Forest. A good base from which to explore the forests of Northland,
with walking and tramping tracks aplenty. The campground is at the forests
visitors centre, near the Waipoua River, where you can make your booking.
Facilities include hot and cold showers, toilets and a communal cookhouse with
a refrigerator if required, plus a laundry tub, and token operated machines
available. Enjoy the evening chorus provided by the resident kiwi population and view Waipoua Historic Kauri photo display. No pets or fires please. Te Roroa is looking after this interesting camp. Approximatly 80 camp sites.
Adults, $15 per night. Children (5 to17yrs) $7.50 per night, preschool (under
4yrs) free. Discounted guided night walks for campground patrons.

Only 12 sites but they are large and level and a little different. Each site has
a light (your own switch), a clothes line, tap, waste water drain and rubbish tin,
along with its own concrete path. A sheltered, tidal estuary is just through
the fence and over the dunes to a surf beach. Top marks for housekeeping.
Facilities open off a roofed deck. The kitchen has a full stove and hotplates,
fridge/freezer and a chest freezer. Take your meal outside to the picnic tables.
The ablutions are well-lined with 2 good metered shower cubicles for each
sex and a lavish hot water supply. There is a nice amenities block with laundry,
hot and cold washing machines and dryer. You will find free dinghies and two
free BBQ’s for campers. In a separate area, a car or boat wash and dump
point are available. A decent sized games room is provided. An attractive
country setting with plenty of well-groomed sites. No dogs here please. Your

This is a newly refurbished camp where the entire interior of every building
on site has had a full makeover. You can fnd it just off SHwy 2, below the
bridge on the northern edge of Waipukurau. The somewhat-bare but level
grounds have some shade trees and the Tukituki River is just over the bank
for fshing and swimming. Only a short walk from the township means you
can easily stock up or have a meal out. Across the road is the towns heated,
indoor swimming pool. The camp has wireless internet available. A sparkly
new kitchen has cooking by microwave or hot plates and a fridge. Each
sink has its own set of knives and chopping boards and there is a good new
stock of cooking utensils, pots and pans. There is a dining alcove with TV and couch and infomation on the area, plus there will be alfresco dining with a covered area and gas BBQ by this summer. A new kids playground is on the agenda also. The toilet/shower blocks have been completely renovated and are spotless. A dump point is provided. Theres plenty of room for tenting and 26 sites have power. Your hosts are Ray & Adrienne who will look after you. All tent sites are from $20 person.

Look for the signs pointing to the Wairakei Thermal Valley walk, it is well worth the trip up the gravel road. Tucked into a sheltered glade, this small appealing camp offers rustic appeal and farm animals galore! Your hosts, John and Cathy, run an on-site licensed restaurant that opens from 9am until late, you can also order a steam cooked meal from here, but their speciality are the Devonshire teas they provide. Sit round a large roaring fire or relax outdoors in the garden setting and feed the peacocks and chickens that wander free. Camping on the 25 powered sites under the trees is random in style with older style facilities. There is a simple kitchenette, free showers, toilets and a single auto washing machine. If you have time then explore the 30 minute thermal walk for a small additional charge, you won't be disappointed and see if you can spot some of the many native birds that abound in the trees. There is no wifi.

Wairoa is a pleasant riverside town within the sunshine belt of Hawke_s Bay. This delightful camp is tucked back from the road on level grounds beside the river and with a boat ramp nearby. Adjacent to the local sports complex and heated pool, shopping and dining are within easy walking distance. There are 112 sites (40 with power and own taps) on the carefully landscaped grounds, rich with planter boxes and shady trees. Quirky touches make this a memorable camp experience from the fairy lights in the trees, the novelty BBQ in the boot of a car, to the pink gingham bench frills in the _Ladies_ (blue in the Men_s!). The superb housekeeping is appreciated! An immaculate, spacious kitchen has everything you could need (including TV). The spotlessly-clean ablutions have metered showers and plenty of vanity space. There_s a well-equipped automatic laundry with washbasket and ironing facilities, a dump point and internet kiosks in the _playhouse_ by the office. You can be sure a warm welcome awaits you and your pets, from your hosts Sharron and Bill.

The Waitakere Ranges Regional Park forms a wilderness buffer zone between
Auckland and the rugged coastline of the Tasman Sea. There are many
outstanding natural features to explore, such as waterfalls, beaches, streams
andwildlife. The ranges cover a broken area from the northern coastline of the
Manukau harbour to Muriwai, offering a number of recreational opportunities
such as swimming, surfing, tramping, fishing, boat launching, horse riding, runing,
walking, picnicking, or just relaxing. The park has 10 backpacker campsites in
a variety of coastal, bush, and farm settings, all with access to water and basic
toilet facilities. There are no animals or fires allowed at any of these sites.
Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children. There are also designated areas
within the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park for self-contained vehicles. Annual
camping passes are available. There are no rubbish bins provided within the
Waitakere Ranges, so be prepared to take out all rubbish when you leave.

Just to the north of Paihia, this camp is on the edge of the Waitangi River mouth with a water boundary and a security fence at the road frontage. There are over 160 roomy sites (56 with power) and a few shady trees. The amenities offer two kitchens, with microwaves and fridge/freezers. The laundry has automatic coin operated washers and dryer. The ablutions have well-lined, clean showers. There is a dump station provided. Internet access available. Some areas reserved for campers who have quietness as a priority. All sites are $16 to $25 per person (including hot showers) in peak season. Pet friendly by prior arrangement. A short walk from the park takes you to a supermarket.

To reach Waitarere, turn-off SHwy 1 about 8 km north of Levin. Small in size but not in comfort, this spic-and-span terraced camp is adjacent to the wide sweep of Waitarere Beach. It has sites with power, plus a range of tent sites. The kitchen has plenty of facilities (including microwave) and a dining area, with an adjoining TV room. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with homely touches. All the amenities are of a good standard with two ablutions blocks. An interesting children’s playground is set on the hill above the camp with great views out to sea. Shopping is just around the corner and you can walk through the sand dunes to the beach. A dump station is provided. Your host is Robin. All sites are $17 per adult and $8 a child under 12 years.

Located in rural Waitawheta near the town of Waihi, the camp is close to large areas of native New Zealand bush and rivers, including one of New Zealand's top ten natural attractions - the Karangahake Gorge and the Hauraki Rail Trail.

Whether it's tramping, cycling, kayaking, abseiling, exploring gold-mining heritage sites or travelling on the vintage rail train, there's so much to do in and around the camp.We are only 15 minutes drive from Waihi Beach, with pristine white sand beaches and coastal walkways. We have Kayaks for hire at the camp.There are fresh water swimming holes in the rivers close to the camp and at Dickeys Flat.

Immaculate ablutions include a disabled access/family suite. Extras include an internet room and wireless hotspot, SKY TV, reading room, trampoline, a superb swimming pool (with hot tub) and a bright new playground. You can see all this without leaving home, on the park virtual tour website. As well as the world-famous caves, there are bushwalks and other scenic tourist attractions nearby. Waiwhenua Farmstay situated on the banks of the Tutaekuri River less than an hours drive west of Napier and Hastings. A short wind down through the farm and bush to the secluded river section with plenty of shade and shelter from the wind, right on the banks of the river. Limited freedom sites are also available for the casual overnight visitor. RV and car access is limited to the summer dry season however 4WD or AWD are recommended. The amenities include cold water taps, cold, or hot solar showers, gas camp cooking facilities, firewood, fire pits, long drop toilets, and bedding packs, plus a herb garden are available. About 6 km south of Waiouru, turn west off SHwy 1 towards Rangiwaea
Junction. About 20 minutes drive along this road you’ll fnd the established
gardens at Wakarua Farm. Visit here in the spring for the beauty of the
gardens, but don’t expect a full-on holiday camp. Limited provision has been
made for mobile homes with 5 powered sites (tents are also welcome). There
is a toilet and shower attached to the farmhouse but no kitchen facilities. For

Nestled above Wanaka township, and with lovely views of the hills and the lake, is this immaculately set out camp ground. Take the road to Mt Aspiring/Glendhu Bay for 2kms then turn left onto Studholme Road North (make sure you dont take Studholme South). This camp is ideal for skiers and summer visitors alike as it is well set up with just about everything you could need. With its landscaped grounds and large established shade trees, this camp gets lovely sun all day, and enjoys great mountain views. Plentiful ablutions (with under floor heating), good kitchen, the lounge has a wood burner and Sky TV. There is a children's playground here and a covered BBQ area. For the skier, a workshop and safe storage for ski-gear, and enjoy a soak in the two hot spas and/or the sauna. From this large camping complex, you can walk to Wanaka township, and
just see the lake through the trees. Over 200 sites are placed underneath
large pine trees, and some weeping willows, and some are in the open.
While the main amenities block has a large kitchen with plenty of cooking
appliances, a fridge and TV, there is also space to socialise while fixing dinner.
There are showers in the ablution blocks and the well-equipped laundry
has banks of automatic machines and a drying room. Extra amenities are
available at peak times. There is a playground and ‘safe swimming down at
the lake, and squash/tennis courts next door. The public dump station is
at the front gate, and your host is Aggi Sanders. All sites $19 per person.

An attractive park 3km along the Wanaka-Mt Aspiring Road where 100 camping sites are terraced and sheltered by tree belts around the outside. Powered sites are on a hard stand, with a small grassed area and picnic table for each site, and the top sites have a wonderful view and a clean and modern kitchen with plenty of cooking appliances, fridges and TV. Down one level is the recreation room, with internet and a lounging deck so you can watch the children as they swim in the pool that comes complete with 3 slides and a balancing beam. More amenities are provided on a lower level where a little area is set aside for tents, with plenty of sunny sites. There are automatic machines in the laundry and a drying room for use in the ski season. There are two BBQ facilities in the camp, one on each level. There is also an indoor spa pool and a dump point here, and you can pick up a ski bus at the gate. Your hosts are Tracey and Patrick Perkins. Tent sites from $18 per person and power sites are from $42 for two adults. Children under 15 years are $10.

Watson's Way Lodge is nestled in a secluded garden in Renwick, 10 minutes from Blenheim. Located in the heart of Marlborough's wine area, you are invited to relax in one of the double en-suite rooms, dorms or camp out in your van or tent.

An 8 km drive through coastal dairy country from SHwy 3 at Waverly leads to
this pleasant rustic camp just over the dunes from the beach. Local attractions nearby are ‘Cave Rock’ and fishing. The 28 powered sites are on a grassy paddock edged with flaxes, leaving plenty of room for tents. To the rear of the camp is a great playground for the kids. The main building includes a
serviceable kitchen and a simple recreation/dining hall and there are outdoor wood BBQs. The older-style ablutions are tidy and kept locked when there are no guests.

The code to access facilities can be obtained from the Waverley LibraryPlus office 9 - 5 Monday to Friday and Saturdays 9.30am - 12pm where camp fees are also paid. $15 per night per powered site or $10 for tents (this covers 2 adults and 2 children on a site).

This camp is easily accessible in a level garden setting, and is only 6kms from Havelock. The ablution facilities are first class, with a disability unit, and the kitchen is excellent with a covered outside dining BBQ area. A good laundry and a comfortable TV and games room are provided in the 'Deadwood Saloon'. Trampoline and volleyball are available, the local river is good for trout fishing and many activities can be accessed from Havelock including the mail boat run. Just off the beaten track, at the Welcome Bay roundabout (SHwy 29), head
east for 4 km to the rural outskirts. Handy to the shopping centre, the camp
is alongside a sparkling, natural thermal pool complex (fed from a deep bore and emptied and cleaned daily) which is available free to campers. At the shop/offce you can buy ice creams and drinks. The compact campsite is set
in a secluded dell, with a bush backdrop and newly extended and refurbished amenities. There’s a modern, well-equipped kitchen, unisex toilets and singlesex showers, a new covered outdoor dining area, plus an automatic laundry.
It’s a short drive to Tauranga and Mount Maunganui. Your friendly hosts are
Fraser Berkett and Christine MacKay. There are 25 sites, costing $45 for 2
people.

On the Hutt River in northern Upper Hutt, the Wellington Kiwi Holiday Park is ideal for relaxing and listening to the birdsong, or for outdoor activities. Trout fishing, bush walks, mountain biking on the world-class Karapoti circuit, and golfing are all nearby. Visit the Efil Doog gardens or Staglands Wildlife Reserve. Stay in one of the modern, clean motels, tourist flats or cabins or bring your tent or campervan and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Take the Petone exit off SHwy 2 and follow the blue TransitNZ camp signs.
Don’t be put off by the industrial suburb approach to this camp, as the
immaculate grounds are shaded by established pohutakawa trees and have
views of the bush-clad ranges. There are both grass and hardstand sites for
mobile homes,125 powered sites and 60 tent sites. Spacious grounds boast
a well-equipped adventure playground with a huge jumping pillow for the kids.

There are 3 good kitchens with dining halls and fridge lockers that can be hired.
Amenities include spacious toilets, showers and disabled access facilities, with
2 family bathrooms and 3 coin-operated automatic laundries. Along with
the spa, Sky TV room and new outdoor BBQ area, the games room will be a
hit with the kids, with a pool table, air hockey, table tennis, video game arcade
machines and internet access. This should keep happy campers entertained
for hours. A dump station is provided. Your hosts are Allen and Sue. All
sites are $50 for two people, $20 each extra person. There is a $35 minimum
site charge.

Wenderholm is alongside a stunning beach at the mouth of the Puhoi River.
Its prime purpose is for day visitors, although an area is set aside for camping.
You will have a nice level site between the mangroves and the (fenced) sheep
paddock. There are taps and a long drop. There are bush walks within the
park notable for their native flora and fauna. No dogs or fires are permitted.
Charges are $13 per adult, $6 per child. There is a designated area for selfcontained
vehicles for $6 and $4 for adults and children respectively. Annual
passes are available for non-peak period camping. There are no rubbish bins
provided, so be prepared to take out all rubbish when you leave.

This urban park is predominantly flat and provides row-upon-row of small
caravans and cabins for its semi-permanent residents. Casual travellers should
expect little holiday atmosphere here. A key-access barrier arm controls the
camp entrance, with 24-hour security provided. The usual camping amenities
have two well-loved ablution blocks (clean and tidy), an automatic laundry, and
a kitchen with a good variety of cooking equipment. Pets by arrangement.

for two for tents, or power $25 for 2 people. Minimum charges apply. Not

A sheltered camp where pockets of bush form natural barriers between
grouped sites, offering an away-from-it-all environment that has wekas in
residence. This camp is set up with families in mind, as you enter the camp
you will see the mini golf course where you can take some shots. there
is also a great children’s playground, and parents can watch from the new
outside deck and covered BBQ area. Plenty of room for all, there are 65
sites with power, plus numerous tent sites. The bright sunny kitchen, with
stove and fridge and all other amenities, is alongside a large TV/social room
with internet access. The smart ablutions have roomy showers, a child’s bath,
and dressing space with a seat, while all laundry facilities are automatic and
plentiful. A pleasant leafy retreat, brim-full of birdlife with an aviary for the
bird fanciers and chooks to feed. Wifi is available for a small fee, there is a free
carwash available too. Your friendly hosts are Roger and Margaret.

Once on Waiheke, there are public transport options from the main ferry
terminal which stops at Gordons Road. The campground is at the south
end of the beach and has toilets, cold water taps and a couple of gas-fired
barbecues that can be used free of charge. The area stretches back from the
beachfront and careful tree planting has created an appealing array of secluded
and sheltered camping spots. Animals and fires are prohibited. Sites are $13
for adults and $6 for children. There is a designated area for self-contained
vehicles at $6. Annual passes are available.

Situated in the heart of Whakapapa Village on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu, this
compact alpine park is nestled amongst mountain beech forest and a haven for
outdoor lovers. The sites are very appealing, each tucked into the bush with
space and privacy and the soothing sound of an alpine stream. A perfect base
for exploring the park, it offers 44 powered sites and around 8 tent sites. The
well-used amenities building is centrally located, with a fully-equipped kitchen
and dining facilities, a laundry and a drying room, but no recreation room. The
Whakapapa Store is open daily and meals and other services are close by. As
this is a National Park, no pets are permitted. A dump point is provided. Your
host is Garth and his team. All sites $17 per adult. Bookings are essential.

There_s no passing traffic at this level, riverside camping ground that_s an ideal home-base for fishing trips. There are 70 sites with power, water and drainage, plus 40 tent sites across mature grounds peppered with willow trees. A substantial flood bank separates the park from the Whakatane River and it_s a 5 minute, riverside walk into town. There_s plenty of room for the kids to play, and an outdoor seasonal swimming pool. Internet access is in a wee _techno-caravan_. The roomy kitchen provides ample appliances and dining space, with a TV lounge and new, covered eatery next door. The main ablution block is clean and well presented, or you can experience vintage _kiwiana_ in the two other blocks! An automatic laundry and dump point are provided. Your friendly host is Noel.
