As soon as you drive into this camp, you can tell it is well looked after. Everything is newly painted and the grounds are well maintained. Camping is on an open area with landscaped grounds and established trees, some hard stands are available too.. There is a roomy, well-appointed kitchen and dining area, with all cooking and eating utensils, and a TV lounge, complete with piano. The setup reminds you of being at home, it is that sort of place. The ablutions, including a disability unit, are lined and spotless, they even smelled nice! There are laundry facilities with auto machines, BBQs are available, and an adventure playground, a council domain across the road gives even more playground. A great area for fishing, walking or just relaxing, your cheerful new hosts are Kara and Brent. Pets are welcome here, there is wifi available, as well as a dump station. At the northern end of Waihi Beach is this large, immaculately-kept park, that offers a variety of interesting sites grouped into individual camping areas. The barrier arm entry ensures camp security and lots of mature trees, mainly pohutukawa, enhance the grounds. Choose from 70 powered sites, either in the main camp area at road level, or on the water_s edge across the road. A pretty stream divides the camp and you can feed the pet eels from the quaint footbridges. Plenty of smart ablutions and toilet blocks can be found throughout. Enjoy a modern central facilities block, with state-of-the-art fit-out in the caf_-style kitchen/dining area, ablutions and recreation areas. Everything has been thought of, with Sky TV lounge (huge screen!), gymnasium and sauna and a superb family room/nursery that is well-equipped with wet-day entertainment for the littlies. Even the superb laundry has had the treatment - with comfy seats and reading material provided. This attractive communal building spills out onto a landscaped dining/BBQ patio and pool area. This delightful camp is in Waihi township tucked into a hidden valley 10 minutes
from Waihi Beach and the Karangahake Gorge walkways, and the newly
appointed Hauraki rail trail. There are 52 powered sites and unlimited tent
space spread across 10 acres of park-like grounds. Try down by the river, close
to the facilities or in the wide open spaces surrounded by mature trees and
gardens. It might be fun to take a walk to the gold and silver mines. The kids
will love chucking bread for the ducks, petting the pigs, giving the Suffolk sheep
a pat, or feeding the trout in the stream. They can then burn off some energy
in the large outdoor swimming pool, while the adults enjoy a well-appointed
kitchen with stoves, microwaves and fridge with outdoor BBQ/dining pergola
alongside. The smart ablutions have free showers with a disabled access suite.

You are in the heart of farm country in this council owned camp, which is
closed in winter from May to September. Mainly populated by the same
families returning year after year, you will need to book if you want to squeeze
in. There is a large, level grassed area with several trees and hedges. 64 sites
have power and there is an abundance of tent sites. Amongst the amenities
is a useful kitchen (which doubles as a dining and library facility) with two full
stoves, microwaves, pots, utensils and fridge/freezers. The ablutions have been
newly refurbished and there are automatic machines and dryer in the laundry.
This area is popular for fishing and golfing and there is a good swimming hole
in the nearby river. No dogs please, your friendly hosts are Graeme and Kaye.
All sites are $12.50 per adult, $6 for children.

A smart, holiday complex with direct access to the beautiful Waikanae Beach
and just a few minutes stroll to Gisborne shops. This is a large camp with
133 powered sites. It can be intensely camped at times. Sites are level, with
some enjoying a shady aspect. The grounds are securely fenced and hedged
around the perimeter. There are open spaces for volleyball and an electric
BBQ area is a popular get-together spot. The amenities blocks function

a racquet and enjoy a game of tennis on the seaside courts with spectacular
views across to the white cliffs of Young Nicks Head or hire some wheels and
bike around the waterfront. Theres a kids play area, TV/games room too and
holiday entertainment may be offered in the summer. No pets please. A

Turn off SHwy 2 at Putorino into Waikare Road, and then travel for 20 minutes
on an unsealed road along the south bank of the Waikare River. At the road
end you will fnd a level, open site for basic camping that can accommodate 4
tent sites. Its ten minutes walk to the beach for fshing, swimming and boating
(including boat ramp). Facilities here are toilets, picnic tables and water from
a tap (that must be boiled before drinking)

It's great to see a campground with lots of quirky objects scattered around, from the robot that meets you at the entrance to the sites, to the hedge face. Here you will find level sites on gently rising land with good shade trees. An inviting outdoor eating area has a BBQ and pizza oven with seating around, all sheltered by a trellis and pergola. In the kitchen is an island with hobs, microwave and fridge, plus small appliances. The ablution block is light and bright with plenty of good hot showers. In the laundry are automatic washing machines dryers and an iron. All amenities are clean and tidy. There is a children’s play area, trampoline and cricket pitch, and a popular solar heated swimming pool as well as a TV room. Children can borrow DVDs at no
charge. A peaceful setting great for a family, individual, backpacker or groups.
There are large spacious sites for campervans, caravans and tents, and it is a gentle stroll to the beach, marina or restaurants. It is also handy to two boat launch pads. Your hosts are Felicity, Richard and family. All sites from $16 per adult, $7.50 per child.

One of those basic beach camp grounds that are sadly becoming rare. 50 power sites on well drained, flat ground. The large kitchen is basic but clean, and there is plenty of freezer and refrigerator space, and an outside covered dining area. Older toilet facilities are clean and tidy, and the laundry includes auto washers and a dryer. There is a trampoline for children, and
pushbikes available to use. It sounds like they have a lot of fun at this camp,
with a stage out back for musical entertainment and the odd golf tournament
with the locals. A short stroll down the road is a small pub, no doubt a
welcome sight on a hot day. Internet is available and your hosts are Stu and
Angie. Tent sites are $20 per adult, $30 for two adults, $13 for an extra adult
and $7 for children. Power sites are $23 per adult, $32 for two adults, $15 for
an extra adult and $10 for children.

Whitebaiting in season, fishing, surfing or swimming are yours to enjoy, this camp is well suited for a family holiday with an onsite playground as well as another playground and paddling pool just down the road. The sealed road to Waimarama winds through rural hill country, 30 minutes drive from Havelock North. This large, flat, seaside camp has 30 caravan sites and 18 powered tent sites available, with the adjoining paddock used in peak periods. It is safe for children with one gate in and out. The golden, sandy beach is surf patrolled during the summer. From the camp it is a two minute walk to the domain and beach. The small and well-loved kitchen has gas cookers, microwave and fridge. The ablutions consist of two toilets and two coin operated showers (one with a shub/bath) each for men and women, plus a disabled access toilet. There is a small play area for toddlers. Three gas BBQs are available in an under-cover dining area. Your hosts are Karen and Ed who can be found at 15 Harper Street when the office is closed. Powered sites are $25 and un-powered $20 for adults, children (under 13) are half price and under 5s free.

Really get away from it all at the Waingaro Hot Springs and camp, 24 km west
of Ngaruawahia next to the Waingaro Hotel. Camp on 40 powered sites set
on pleasant sunny terraces (divided by bush and shrubbery) above the pools.
The amenities are small, with a functional kitchen and a communal room with
kitchenette. The well-used ablutions are in three blocks and extra toilets
are handily placed about the grounds. Two automatic laundries and a dump
station are provided. There are plenty of BBQs, picnic tables and children’s
play areas about the grounds. Although the camp store at the entrance has
limited supplies, we advise campers to stock-up in advance. Please do not
bring dogs here. Your hosts are Chood and Amro Singh. All sites are from
$22 per adult and under 12 years $12.50.

Don't expect manicured lawns and clearly marked sites in this cute little camp with a difference. Lovely gardens hide a multitude of historic railway guard vans, five powered sites and the room for tents. You can cook a meal at the station kitchen which doubles as a dining room. A lovely outside dining and BBQ area, covered with climbing plants and including a swing seat, is available also. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and the separate TV and recreation room includes comfy seating and a large TV. The ablutions area is clean, and have free showers, there is also a coin operated laundry available. A children's play area has a climbing frame and there is a large chess set on the paving stones. Your friendly hosts are David and Karen. Amberley is just 10km away for supplies, and please note there is no eftpos available. Power sites are $30 for two plus $10 each extra person, a tent site is $25 plus $10 per extra person.

This is a well signposted camp, 35 km north of Napier. Take the Tongoio Road loop from the Napier end and you'll find the road sealed all the way to the farm gate. The camp is set on a low plateau overlooking the bay and lagoon with bush-clad hills behind. The attractive golden sandy beach, is fairly sheltered, safe for swimming, has good fishing and is directly accessed from the camp. The lagoon is popular for small children. There are 16 power sites with taps and sumps around the grounds and plenty of room for tents. The kitchen provides 2 large freezers, a bait freezer and 2 glass door fridges, hotplates, an oven for cooking and small appliances. The bright ablutions include a disabled access/family suite and gas showers $1.00 for a six-minute shower. An automatic laundry and a dump point are provided. There is also a good sized dining/lounge area and a covered BBQ pagoda with seating and superb sea views. A kids play area is on site and bikes are welcome or head into one of the great bush walks. Bring supplies with you, as only basic items can be bought at the camp. Wireless internet is available. Please do not bring your dog. Your friendly hosts are Shane, Fay and family. with walking and tramping tracks aplenty. The campground is at the forests

Only 12 sites but they are large and level and a little different. Each site has
a light (your own switch), a clothes line, tap, waste water drain and rubbish tin,
along with its own concrete path. A sheltered, tidal estuary is just through
the fence and over the dunes to a surf beach. Top marks for housekeeping.
Facilities open off a roofed deck. The kitchen has a full stove and hotplates,
fridge/freezer and a chest freezer. Take your meal outside to the picnic tables.
The ablutions are well-lined with 2 good metered shower cubicles for each
sex and a lavish hot water supply. There is a nice amenities block with laundry,
hot and cold washing machines and dryer. You will find free dinghies and two
free BBQ’s for campers. In a separate area, a car or boat wash and dump
point are available. A decent sized games room is provided. An attractive
country setting with plenty of well-groomed sites. No dogs here please. Your

DESCRIPTION:

This is a newly refurbished camp where the entire interior of every building
on site has had a full makeover. You can fnd it just off SHwy 2, below the
bridge on the northern edge of Waipukurau. The somewhat-bare but level
grounds have some shade trees and the Tukituki River is just over the bank
for fshing and swimming. Only a short walk from the township means you
can easily stock up or have a meal out. Across the road is the towns heated,
indoor swimming pool. The camp has wireless internet available. A sparkly
new kitchen has cooking by microwave or hot plates and a fridge. Each
sink has its own set of knives and chopping boards and there is a good new
stock of cooking utensils, pots and pans. There is a dining alcove with TV and couch and infomation on the area, plus there will be alfresco dining with a covered area and gas BBQ by this summer. A new kids playground is on the agenda also. The toilet/shower blocks have been completely renovated and are spotless. A dump point is provided. Theres plenty of room for tenting and 26 sites have power. Your hosts are Ray & Adrienne who will look after you. All tent sites are from $20 person.

DESCRIPTION:

Look for the signs pointing to the Wairakei Thermal Valley walk, it is well worth the trip up the gravel road. Tucked into a sheltered glade, this small appealing camp offers rustic appeal and farm animals galore! Your hosts, John and Cathy, run an on-site licensed restaurant that opens from 9am until late, you can also order a steam cooked meal from here, but their speciality are the Devonshire teas they provide. Sit round a large roaring fire or relax outdoors in the garden setting and feed the peacocks and chickens that wander free. Camping on the 25 powered sites under the trees is random in style with older style facilities. There is a simple kitchenette, free showers, toilets and a single auto washing machine. If you have time then explore the 30 minute thermal walk for a small additional charge, you won't be disappointed and see if you can spot some of the many native birds that abound in the trees. There is no wifi.

Wairoa is a pleasant riverside town within the sunshine belt of Hawke_s Bay. This delightful camp is tucked back from the road on level grounds beside the river and with a boat ramp nearby. Adjacent to the local sports complex and heated pool, shopping and dining are within easy walking distance. There are 112 sites (40 with power and own taps) on the carefully landscaped grounds, rich with planter boxes and shady trees. Quirky touches make this a memorable camp experience from the fairy lights in the trees, the novelty BBQ in the boot of a car, to the pink gingham bench frills in the _Ladies_ (blue in the Men_s!). The superb housekeeping is appreciated! An immaculate, spacious kitchen has everything you could need (including TV). The spotlessly-clean ablutions have metered showers and plenty of vanity space. There_s a well-equipped automatic laundry with washbasket and ironing facilities, a dump point and internet kiosks in the _playhouse_ by the office. You can be sure a warm welcome awaits you and your pets, from your hosts Sharron and Bill.

Manukau harbour to Muriwai, offering a number of recreational opportunities

walking, picnicking, or just relaxing. The park has 10 backpacker campsites in
a variety of coastal, bush, and farm settings, all with access to water and basic
toilet facilities. There are no animals or fires allowed at any of these sites.
Prices are $6 for adults and $4 for children. There are also designated areas
within the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park for self-contained vehicles. Annual
camping passes are available. There are no rubbish bins provided within the
Waitakere Ranges, so be prepared to take out all rubbish when you leave.

To reach Waitarere, turn-off SHwy 1 about 8 km north of Levin. Small in size but not in comfort, this spic-and-span terraced camp is adjacent to the wide sweep of Waitarere Beach. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, with homely touches. All the amenities are of a good standard with two ablutions blocks. An interesting children’s playground is set on the hill above the camp with great views out to sea. Shopping is just around the corner and you can walk through the sand dunes to the beach. An 8 km drive through coastal dairy country from SHwy 3 at Waverly leads to
this pleasant rustic camp just over the dunes from the beach. Local attractions nearby are ‘Cave Rock’ and fishing. The 28 powered sites are on a grassy paddock edged with flaxes, leaving plenty of room for tents. To the rear of the camp is a great playground for the kids. The main building includes a
serviceable kitchen and a simple recreation/dining hall and there are outdoor wood BBQs. The older-style ablutions are tidy and kept locked when there are no guests.

The code to access facilities can be obtained from the Waverley LibraryPlus office 9 - 5 Monday to Friday and Saturdays 9.30am - 12pm where camp fees are also paid. $15 per night per powered site or $10 for tents (this covers 2 adults and 2 children on a site).
