DESCRIPTION:

Look for the large orange float on the tree by the gateway. From here,
your host June McDonald can arrange private seaside camping for you. The
camp is 10 minutes drive away on coastal farmland. There is no power in
the rudimentary building that houses the kitchen/living areas, with a Kent
woodburner and gas cooking. There is a flush toilet.  There is good fishing off the
rocks. June takes guided walks on the history of the area, a marae visit and
traditional medicinal uses of native plants. You can take a 2 hour walk to the lighthouse or many other shorter walks. Campsites are from $10 per person.

The camp is directly behind the Caroline's Boatshed Bar and Eatery and TAB and beside the river and the railway line. The cluster of permanent living caravans and house buses, and the back yard bits and pieces around the place give the camp a lived-in, rather than a holiday feel. The ablutions and kitchen are basic. Just a hop, step and a jump from the beach, this gorgeous camp has room for up to 140 campers, 55 sites with power, spacious, and most overlooking a safe swimming beach. Quiet, clean and friendly is the motto of this camp, and you can see it everywhere you look. The amenities are generous and clean, there seem to be ablution blocks every time you turn around. They include a baby_s bathroom and disabled suite, and another building housing four family bathrooms. The spacious stainless kitchen has a large chiller fridge and all other amenities, and there is an attractive sunroom/dining set up next door. At the end of the building is an inviting undercover BBQ area with seating. There is a separate lounge/TV room, and a games room that includes arcade games and table hockey, and two internet kiosks are available. The well-equipped laundry has several washers and dryers, while the children_s playground at the far end of the grounds is a good one, including an in ground trampoline, fenced on three sides for safety. You will get a lovely greeting as you come into the reception from your friendly hosts Chrissy and Carl. Tent sites are $36 to $38 for two, extra adults are $18 to $19. Power sites $42 to $46 for two, extra adults are, and children aged 1 to 14 years are $10.

Masterton. The road winds through picturesque Wairarapa countryside. An
avenue of tall palms leads into the camp, which is situated right on a safe
beach, protected by the outcrop of Castlepoint rock and lighthouse. A cardswipe
gate controls access to the 120 powered sites (all with taps), plus 15
tent sites. In this terraced area sites are varied, some with shady trees and
all with shelter fences. The beach front sites offer great sea views and there
is a kids’ playground. The modern amenities are clean and bright with lots
of extras. The large kitchen extends to a dining and comfy TV lounge room,
and there is internet access in the office.. The ovens are coin-operated. Hire
a boogie board. Visit the pub, petrol station and golf course near by. Pets
by arrangement between end of Easter and labour weekend only. A dump
station is provided. Kerry and Lynell are your hosts. All sites are from $18

Unfortunately there is no kitchen, and the showers and toilets are very basic but clean and well maintained. A small laundry area houses a twin tub washing machine. The public dump station is 200m away, as is the museum, information centre, and fuel station. Eat in at the Inn, or grab a takeaway, this area may be okay for an overnight stop. Right in the heart on Invercargill, this camp surprises you with its large mature trees and well looked after gardens. There are 30 power and tent sites tucked away round the back of this city street. There is wheel chair access and a separate shower and toilet room and are in pristine condition with eco-friendly lighting, gas hot water, and electronically controlled showers. This camp is close to supermarkets, the famous _Splash Palace_ and a ten minute walk to the centre of town. Powered sites are $22 for one adult, $37 for two, extras $16. Non-powered sites are $18 for one, or $33 for two, extras $16.

On the scenic coastal highway some 26km south of Westport is this lovely camp surrounded by native bush. There are 15 power sites (most on gravel) and around 100 tent sites, all on level ground with trees and punga for shade. Reasonably close to both sea and river fishing, you can also go gold mining tours, underwater cave rafting and a cafe just down the road. The kitchen is a bright and airy space that comes fully equipped, alongside it is another room with seating and TV. The ablutions have all been recently updated, they include a beautiful wooden vanity unit and are tastefully decorated. The laundry has washing machines and dryers, and is newly painted, and wireless internet is available. A new addition is a children's playground, and pets are permitted by arrangement. Your hosts are Graeme and Lana. Tent sites are $15 per person, power sites are $17 per person. Children under 12 years are half price, and under 5 years are $2.50.

What a beautiful setting this camping ground is in. A well cared for, tree
sheltered camp with numerous tent sites and 10 power points. You can enjoy
peace and quiet in a relaxed atmosphere. A round of golf maybe, or a walk
to the top of the hill to take in the views, perhaps you would like to try your
hand at fishing in the nearby rivers. A swimming pool with a deck, seating and
a BBQ is provided for your enjoyment. The roomy fully equipped kitchen/
dining area has been upgraded and there are plenty of tables and chairs, as well
as provision for outside dining. The laundry has new coin operated washers
and dryers, and the ablutions are very clean, with towels available for campers.

Pets are welcome by arrangement. Per night prices are, power sites are $35 for two, $25 for one. Non powered are $30 for two and $20 for one. Extra Adults are $10 each and Children are $5 each per night.

Off Linwood Ave, is this pretty little camp, 5km from the centre of Christchurch, with a perimeter of tree lined campsites. The centre hosts a clean, pleasant kitchen opening to a courtyard BBQ garden. Excellent ablutions, with piped music, include a disability suite and a good laundry. Of the 40 large power sites, many have hard stands. A special sheltered area close to the amenities has been set aside for tenters, and a swimming pool and children's playground are centrally placed. Internet access is available in the comfortable TV lounge, a 7-day shop is next door to the camp and there is free wifi and a dump station. Your hosts are Ross and Christine. Sites are from $36 for two people.

This is a popular holiday spot, an easy 35-minute drive from Auckland airport.
The attractively landscaped grounds are tucked into a sheltered bay with water
on two sides and a golf course on the third. Camp on sunny, terraced sites
- most equipped with power, water and sewerage facilities. Relax in the arge, covered swimming pool, with picnic and BBQ facilities, try your hand
at mini-golf. The TV and recreation room has great views across the harbour.
The kitchen offers plenty of appliances, refrigeration, a preparation area,
and a breezeway alongside provides dining space. Ablutions include smart
shower cubicles (metered), with a baby’s bath and disabled access toilet and
shower. Additional unisex showers and toilets are also provided. An excellent
automatic laundry has iron and board. Water-sport enthusiasts are catered
for with on-site kayak hire, fish cleaning, and boat parking, with a choice of boat
ramps nearby. Much care has been taken in landscaping the camp to give it a
pleasant, relaxed, resort atmosphere. A special area is designated for campers
with dogs.  Tariff: $44 per night for up to 2 persons, $22 per night per extra adult, $11 per night per extra child (children age 1-12) babies under 1 free.

Clifton Beach Reserve Motor Camp is right at the gateway to the gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, this beachfront camp is a popular spot with fisherfolk and surf lovers. A long narrow camp spread out along the seafront, where you can park up and enjoy the spectacular sea vistas. Situated at the roadend, entry is a barrier arm and there is a casual parking fee for daytrippers. With 155 mainly powered sites, and many permanent setups. There is an extension camp on the road before the office to cater for the busy season. The large kitchens have two stoves plus hotplates. Two blocks of ablutions offer free showers (hot water is turned off during the day in busy season). The automatic laundry equipment is plentiful. A dump station, outdoor showers, plenty of taps and rubbish bins are provided. The on-site shop has basic supplies and almost opposite is a very popular cafe, restaurant and bar. Book for Labour Weekend, Easter time or Christmas.

In a rural setting with a small lake, great views of the mountains and close
to the sea, this camp ground is run by people who know about camping.
Landscaped grounds with room for tents, the 12 powered sites are all on
hard gravel, and some cater for large vehicles. The buildings have had a
lovely make over with a modern, clean kitchen, gas hobs, fridge, microwave
and wall oven.  The tastefully decorated dining/lounge has a log/coal file,
while the spotless modern ablutions have spacious showers.  Other facilities
include a laundry, fire BBQ and scattered throughout the grounds are picnic
tables. Relax around the brazier in the evening with your marshmallows.
or watch the eel feeding at 7pm nightly. Free range eggs are available from

The sociable camper will get a kick out of this one as the local RSA makes its
clubrooms here. There is a generous area with plenty of trees, very close to
the commercial centre of Richmond. Mostly populated by permanents, there
is the odd spot available for tents and vans. Good tiled ablutions, there is a
disability unit, the laundry is well equipped and there is a dump point available.
A well equipped kitchen is provided with all appliances as well as a book swap,
and a phone is available. All amenities are clean and tidy. As part of the club
facilities is a full restaurant, and you sign in to the club as part of your stay. All
sites from $25 (effective March 2023)

DESCRIPTION:

This is a lovely little family campground, set amongst the backdrop of hills and history, and a dredge pond at the end of the camp, experience the natural beauty of Central Otago. The camp has undergone many upgrades and alterations over the last couple of years, and it shows. The playground facilities for children are many, from tyre swing to swimming pool, table tennis, to trampoline. The kitchen has been updated, is modern and has everything you could need, includes indoor and outdoor dining spaces. There are private toilets/showers, and spacious well-kept grounds, laundry facilities and free internet are available, plus animals in the nearby fields for the children to play with. Pets are welcome by arrangement. All facilities are scrupulously clean. On the Clutha Gold Cycle Trail, this would be a great place to stop overnight, there are walks nearby too, or fantastic fishing spots along the Clutha River with easy access on a track from the campsite. All shops, cafes and amenities are within energetic walking distance. Christine is your friendly host.

Attractively located in the heart of Collingwood, at high tide the camp is nearly
surrounded by water, and there are sea and estuary views throughout the
camp. There is a variety of sites, all on level ground, both shady and waterfront.
Two amenity blocks are provided, plus an area with ensuite cubicles, all clean
and tidy. The kitchen and dining has all appliances, crockery and cutlery are
available, and an adjoining cosy sitting room with internet access. Both rooms
have a TV and outside seating under the veranda is a nice spot. The laundry
has automatic washers and dryers. This is a great area for fisking, hiking and
swimming, and with a tennis court right next door as well, this is perfect for a

An attractive, cobbled park entrance leads to a modern office and spacious,
level grounds enhanced with large trees. With 270 power sites and almost as
many for tents, they are never full. There is a central service building which
includes a kitchen/dining/community room that is well supplied with appliances,
and an outside covered dining option is available. There is a well presented,
modern TV room and lounge with a dining option. A light and airy ablution
block is clean and modern, there are also unisex units and extra toilets around
the grounds. A second facilities block has been added with two family or
disability bathrooms that have under floor heating and a spa. In the laundry
there is a generous supply of automatic equipment and a waiting room with
TV. An outside attraction is a BBQ/dining complex with a sink. Children have
an adventure playground with a jumping pillow, and there is a dump point and
car wash. With a free wifi spot at the gate, and a card phone and an internet
kiosk with free wifi are available, you are all set for your electronic needs.
This is the heart of stone fruit country with a market garden across the road,
and pets are permitted during off peak times by arrangement. Your hosts are

Drive to this camping area under a canopy of trees. The Camping Ground
is set in a tranquil hollow surrounded by native bush and exotic trees. We
have a deer enclosure, duck pond and bird aviaries. There is a indoor heated
pool which is a two minute stroll through the bush. Town centre, shops and
restaurants are a ten minute walk from the camp- we are also dog friendly .
All the amenities are well kept and the showers are free. A good kitchen has
full stoves, microwave, fridges and TV and BBQ. The laundry has automatic
washer and dryer. There is also a dump station Your host is Kim.  Linen supplied.

Enjoy your two favourite pastimes at this rural golf club complete with campsite, just 2km south of Dannevirke. Tucked away at the rear of the club carpark is a bush-ringed grassy camping area with 9 power points and some room for tents. You're well out of the way of any errant golf balls and guests do not need to be golfers. Campers have the use of the club facilities, including bar and food at certain times; but the kitchen is not available for guests to use. In addition to the club locker rooms, extra unisex showers and toilets are available 24/7. The gate is locked at 9. 30 pm and Armourguard patrol the grounds twice each night.

You have basic shower and toilet facilities in the shed beside the car park.
You also have the club house bar  usually open in the late afternoons on competition days (Friday Saturday Sunday), and in the summer on Thursday nights for twilight golfers when you can also get a meal for about $10.

For a golden holiday, or as a base to travel the Vanished World Trail, you can't go far wrong with this beautiful woodland camp. Snuggled into a valley under the surrounding hills, the camp is set out on two tiers. On the lower level are some gorgeous riverside sites, and the grounds are well groomed and neatly edged with pine trees. Children are well catered for here, with basketball hoop, playground, and a flying fox, as well as a river swing; inside there is table tennis or indoor hockey. The kitchen is well equipped, with an adjacent dining hall, and the toilet and shower facilities are all modern and clean, with huge shower cubicles. A carpeted and comfy TV room will be welcome on wet days; however when it is fine there is a choice of two swimming holes. An alternative is gold panning (almost at your tent site) or fly fishing, tramping, mountain biking or fossil hunting. Dogs are allowed with prior permission only, and your hosts are Scott and Margie Brown and family. Power sites $19 per person, tent sites $17 per person, including free use of laundry equipment, children $10.

15 km east from the junction at Te Araroa, down a partly sealed and gravel road, is an open rolling paddock on a rise beside the ocean. A bit of a slope for tenters. This is the best of back blocks camping, enjoying the sound of crashing waves. A long drop toilet is onsite and a small alcove with an honesty box. A great stopover for those in their self contained campers wishing to be close to the lighthouse (5km away) there is no power here.

DESCRIPTION:

A lovely rustic campsite with a “backblocks” flavour. Situated on the banks of the Makakahi Stream, where there are plenty of eels and trout. It offers lots of pleasantly private campsites amongst masses of pine and gum trees. Choose between tranquil shady or sunny sites. Covered outdoor dining has recently been added to the basic amenities block. The small toilet and shower units are clean and well-looked after and the small kitchen has a selection of pots, plates and cutlery.

Homely touches are found in the bathrooms and kitchen with fresh free range eggs when the chooks are laying and free tea and coffee. A dump station is around the corner at the Eketahuna Club. Recyling is available on site. A new disabled access suite will be ready shortly.
