Drive over the Waitohi Stream and up the drive to the open grassed area with a railway viaduct above. Children can paddle in the stream, bounce on the trampoline or use the play area provided. There are plentiful ablutions with disability facilities and the carpeted TV lounge has a library, pool table and computer area. A small picnic area next to Alfred Stream over the bridge from the Rai Valley township. This grassy reserve has lovely flowers and is obviously well cared for, there is a donation box to ensure this place keeps maintained. There is a toilet and a picnic shelter.

on level ground, divided by limestone drives. The trees and fencing help with

Just off State Highway One in Seddon, 25km south of Blenheim, is a camp run by the Awatere Community Trust. Hedges along three sides provide shelter for the flat open camping area. The facilities are clean and tidy and the kitchen has a fridge, two full stoves and microwave. Showers and toilets and a disability suite are provided and your pets are welcome. The camp is adjacent to a children's playground and a huge swimming pool. This stopover is a 5 minute drive to local shopping and 10 minutes to a vineyard and golf course. There are 14 power sites and several tent sites and a dump point available. All sites are $12 per person for non-powered site and $15 per person for powered site. Not many sites available on the edge of this busy backpacker complex, and small vans only due to parking room. This is a young person's paradise, looks like a great social atmosphere. Has all the normal amenities that are needed, a bit messy but not too bad. A pool to cool down in, and a very sociable outside BBQ area, as well as an outside covered porch area to grab a book or answer your emails. Your host is Barry.

This is a large park set over two distinct areas, divided by SH1 and bordered by a meandering river. The main camping area is by the river with tree plantings that divide many of the power sites. The grounds are level and spacious with many shady trees and about 160 sites to choose from. This area has its own excellent amenity blocks with kitchens and dining, ablutions, laundries and disability units. There is a TV room and internet access as well as a swimming pool, trampoline, children’s playground, and undercover BBQ area. Have a dip in the spa pool, there is a dump point and car wash also available on site. Try fishing for your dinner in the river or explore the area on a bike available for hire.

Mountain bikes are only permitted on the Queen Charlotte Track between Ship Cove and Camp Bay between 1 March and 30 November.
In December, January and February you can only mountain bike from Camp Bay to Punga Cove or to Kenepuru Saddle via the direct track to the road.

Take the road from Kenepuru Sound and turn off to Manaroa, Clova Bay, to this little piece of paradise on the water_s edge in the outer Pelorus Sounds. Swimming, kayaking (kayaks available) or lovely walks will keep you occupied, or just plain chilling out. This campsite has closed after the 2016 Kiakoura earthquake.
This small camp is just 32kms north of Kaikoura and boasts magnificent views and great walks. Fishing by both sea and river for crayfish and paua, and there are dolphins and seals in the bay just across the road. Find a spot in the shade of the fig tree in this peaceful and well sheltered camp. There are 12 powered sites available, plus tent sites. Facilities include toilets, showers, a coin operated auto washer, outside camp kitchen, and a gas BBQ. You may want to treat yourself to a fresh crayfish, paua pattie or scallop pie from the roadside shop out the front. Dogs are welcome, except during holiday periods and long weekends. Your friendly hosts are Belinda and Maurice. All sites are $15 per adult.

The spotless ablutions have a disability/infant suite and the laundry has fully
automatic equipment. You can enjoy either the outdoor, heated swimming
pool or the popular spa pool, and a card phone is provided for your use. Fish
cleaning facilities are available and there is a dump point, as well as internet

cold water shower. The water is drawn from a spring, therefore perfectly safe
to drink. Lots of animals here to amuse the children. $10 per person includes
pack pick up. Bev and Bob are your friendly hosts. Bookings are essential as
there are limited sites.
Accessible by road and from the Queen Charlotte Track, this camp is on the
waters edge with a stunning view. A large flat area is surrounded by native
bush, with some terraced areas. There are excellent clean toilets and hot
water showers and a disability suite. A kitchen with all facilities, a laundry and
drying room are here. Ideal for large groups. Price per adult is $16, child $10.

The Momorangi Bay camp is found in picturesque Queen Charlotte Sound, just
25 minutes drive from Picton. Its sheltered location at the top of Grove Arm is
great for boating, swimming, walking and picnicking. It is accessible by a sealed
road from Picton and Blenheim, or turn off on to Queen Charlotte Drive if
travelling from Nelson. No pets please. New clean amenities (including some
for disabled people). Lovely new beach front kitchen/laundry/showers block.
The kitchen, although small is clean and has all amenities. 80 power and 80
tent sites are on sheltered terraces with attractive picnic tables. A boat ramp
is available across the road. The Manager is available in the shop throughout
the summer months, and most days during the winter. Price for all sites is $15
per adult, child $7.50.

Okiwi Bay Holiday Park and Lodge is not right on the beach, but there is a boat ramp about 400 metres away. The grounds are neat and landscaped with 12 level sites, all have power and water and lovely sheltered trees. A shop is available with a good range of everyday supplies, and you can get your dive bottles filled, petrol or diesel and fill LPG bottles here. An immaculate kitchen has two full gas stoves and all other amenities, plus a BBQ, as well as a covered dining area outside. The ablutions are well designed, light and airy, with hand basins in the free shower and toilet cubicles plus a disability suite. Automatic machines are provided in the laundry, a phone is on-site and free wifi is available. So many things to do such as fishing, diving and scalloping, charter a boat, or take a guided trip. Kayaks and mountain bikes can be hired locally, there is a dump station and fish filleting bay provided. This is a pet friendly camp and your friendly hosts are Pam and Ian Montgomery. Both powered and unpowered sites are $20 per day for an adult, children 12 years and under $12.50, two years and under are free. Tent RCD cords are available for hire at $6 per day.

A stunningly beautiful spot amongst mature native forest, since last century Pelorus Bridge has been a popular stopover point for travellers between Marlborough and Nelson. Set over two camping areas, the main one being Kahikatea Flat, a delightful enclave with lawn tent sites, surrounded by native bush and the Pelorus River on one side. A new building houses kitchen and dining, shower and full laundry facilities, while the large deck provides delightful outside dining. The office and cafe are both at this site so you will need to check in here. On the opposite side of the river, down Mangatapu Road, is the second camping spot where there are 14 power sites, toilets and hot showers. No pets at either camp please. These busy and attractive camps are right next to the beautiful Pelorus River, great for swimming, trout fishing and boating. A small friendly park set in attractive, landscaped grounds, this is the closest holiday park to the ferry and town centre. It offers hard-court parking with all the extras at each site. The communal amenities are excellent and all under one roof, with an elegant lounge, dining and small kitchen, internet station, plus good showers and toilets. There is a fully-equipped laundry and a dump point is available. This camp has no tent sites.
A self-registration camp site at the Pukatea Stream. This one suits the nature
lover because as well as walks, the area offers sea fishing, swimming and small
boating. The only facilities here are toilets and cold water, but there is disabled
access. Charges $6.10 per person, $1.50 for children.
