Tucked in behind the motel complex are eleven campervan sites on a hard gravel surface, there are no tent sites here. A high fence surrounds the area, giving privacy from the road, and there are some plantings. The kitchen/dining has a full stove and all other facilities, and a BBQ is also available. The lounge area has soft seating, and sparkling clean ablutions also include a hairdryer in the ladies, with large showers and a separate disability suite. There is a 24hr laundry with washing machine, dryer, tub, and a large drying room. A play area is available, the beach is just across the road, and it is a three minute walk to the glow worms. Free wifi is available for guests, as well as a dump station and an inground swimming pool. Seasonal rates apply.

At the end of the road, 2km from Hanmer Village, is this extensive park with spacious sites and lovely mountain views. Well-serviced with sealed roads and over 60 campsites, there are also large trees for shade. The clean kitchen has all appliances with a dining area next door, as well as BBQ tables outside under shade sails. The ablutions are excellent and have a disability unit, there is also a drying room opening off the laundry. The separate games room has
table tennis, pool and air hockey as well as arcade games, and you won't find a better children's playground - it comes complete with an initiative course! For those who want to relax, there is a comfy TV lounge with an internet station,
a petanque pit, or cool off in the swimming pool. There are bikes available for hire, both children and adult sizes available. Wireless internet and a dump station are here for campers.

A picturesque 25 minute drive from Nelson, and 2hrs from Picton, turn off at the Cable Bay road at Hira and travel 8km further on a sealed road. This camp with stunning bay views is on the historic cable station site where the first telegraph link came from Sydney in 1876. Large mature native trees surround this camp, and an extra well-sheltered, tenting area over the creek includes a tenting oasis, and in the creek are tame eels. The ablutions are modern and spotless and include disability facilities, while the kitchen has gas hobs, microwaves, fridges and a BBQ under the front covered veranda. At the rear of the building is a laundry with auto washer and dryer. There is safe swimming at the beach, great kayaking, the Cable Bay walkway, a boat ramp (4WD only) and a safety trampoline for the children. Wifi is available and camping with dogs is by request, please book first. The whole area is steeped in history, so talk to your friendly hosts.

Behind the Challenge Service Station is this RV park situated on what used to be
a car lot. The small area is all sealed, and the fairly new amenities include disability
access to showers and toilets, several washing machine and dryers, and a dump
station. There was no kitchen when we visited, but we are told there is one about
to be built, and there is free wi fi.  It's not the prettiest camp spot but is great if you
are wanting to be close to town. There are 20 power sites available from $25.

Off Linwood Ave, is this pretty little camp, 5km from the centre of Christchurch, with a perimeter of tree lined campsites. The centre hosts a clean, pleasant kitchen opening to a courtyard BBQ garden. Excellent ablutions, with piped music, include a disability suite and a good laundry. Of the 40 large power sites, many have hard stands. A special sheltered area close to the amenities has been set aside for tenters, and a swimming pool and children's playground are centrally placed. Internet access is available in the comfortable TV lounge, a 7-day shop is next door to the camp and there is free wifi and a dump station. Your hosts are Ross and Christine. An attractive, cobbled park entrance leads to a modern office and spacious,
level grounds enhanced with large trees. With 270 power sites and almost as
many for tents, they are never full. There is a central service building which
includes a kitchen/dining/community room that is well supplied with appliances,
and an outside covered dining option is available. There is a well presented,
modern TV room and lounge with a dining option. A light and airy ablution
block is clean and modern, there are also unisex units and extra toilets around
the grounds. A second facilities block has been added with two family or
disability bathrooms that have under floor heating and a spa. In the laundry
there is a generous supply of automatic equipment and a waiting room with
TV. An outside attraction is a BBQ/dining complex with a sink. Children have
an adventure playground with a jumping pillow, and there is a dump point and
car wash. With a free wifi spot at the gate, and a card phone and an internet
kiosk with free wifi are available, you are all set for your electronic needs.
This is the heart of stone fruit country with a market garden across the road,
and pets are permitted during off peak times by arrangement. Your hosts are
Catherine, Richard and Kay & John. Powered sites are $22 for an adult, and $11

On the edge of Motueka township is this lovely campground with well-kept grounds and beautiful mature shade trees. With 30 power sites and a landscaped area for tents in a garden setting, as well as a clean and inviting pool, this is a peaceful oasis. Guest facilities include free wifi and an organic kitchen garden, you can also buy free range eggs at reception. There is a separate comfy TV lounge, playground and large trampoline, as well as free storage and late check out. The smart new ablutions have hot showers with hairdryers, and there is a disability/family bathroom also available. The laundry and kitchen are fully equipped and everything is spotlessly clean and tidy. Several outdoor picnic tables have been provided, some are under cover. Being on the Great Taste cycle trail this is a great spot to stop, or you can hire bikes here to join the trail. Your very friendly hosts are Tony and Judith Peters. Tent sites from $18 per person, power sites from $21 per person. Your pets are welcome by arrangement, not in the rented accommodation though.

In a pristine setting, the well-groomed sites are dotted with trees and this is the only campground in the centre of town but on the edge of the lake. Spacious well designed kitchens open to a bricked patio that invites alfresco dining, or use the brand new BBQ. A TV lounge with Sky offers comfort in a relaxed atmosphere, there is also a games room. The smart ablutions have under floor heating, disability and family bathroom facilities, segregated and unisex facilities are available. The laundry has excellent automatic machines, ironing equipment and a vacuum cleaner. Children will enjoy travelling on the good ship _Mountain View_ which will keep them safely at anchor while the parents sit under the _rustic_ gazebo for a chat, or they may like to play on the new jumping pillow. Near the southern tip of Lake Wakatipu, this holiday park is full of mature trees and has a bubbly stream running through it. An ideal stopover between Queenstown/Wanaka and Milford Sound many of the sites have hard pads, and the tent sites are on well drained land. There is a small kitchen with ceramic cook-tops and a small dining room attached. You will find a TV, free videos, books and games in the TV room, and there is a separate room for internet. The ablutions have free showers and heating, there is a laundry and a guest BBQ. The park next door has tennis courts, and there is a café, local pub, and fish and chip shop within strolling distance. If you have any energy left, borrow the complimentary set of golf clubs and try the 9-hole golf course, or hire a bike. You can fish in the lake and there are several tracks nearby, including the round the mountain track which ends/starts in Kingston.

Right on the edge of Lake Hawea, this is a large camping ground with sites
scattered amongst large established shade trees. There are 100 sites with
power and plenty of tent site, this camp is a great place to view the sunset with
the light shining on the mountains over the lake, which offers a stunning natural
show. The office carries basic supplies and information on all the activities in the area, and there is a big fire place to socialise around. wo basic but clean kitchens with all amenities, one with a TV, also internet access, and free DVD
hire. Two basic, clean ablution blocks and a disability unit, recently painted and
modernised. The shower and toilet block is tidy, and showers are included in
the price. The laundry has automatic equipment and linen to hire, and there is a boat ramp. You can use the camp fishing rods, fish cleaning facilities, plus a fish smoker is provided for your catch. Plenty of activities for children, with a
playground that includes a couple of old tractors, and safe swimming in the lake.
Dogs can stay off-peak (end of January to December 20) and there is 30 mins
free wifi for guests, or you can purchase a 24 hour card. Your hosts are the
Burdon family. Tent sites $17 per adult and power sites from $36 for two adults.

In the heart of tui country (the bird and the beer!) this un-crowded camp is
located on the southern edge of Pahiatua township beside two hectares of
native bush. Sheltered by a high macrocarpa hedge, the grounds are beautifully

ablutions and kitchen are basic, but lovely and clean. The kitchen has a stock
of pots, crockery and cutlery and the separate dining area is surrounded by

and ablutions block has just been completed. In the kitchen is a huge table
and large doors leading to a covered deck, The ultra-modern showers and
toilet are new. Enjoy your evenings in the BBQ/dining area. Play a game of maxi chess while the meal cooks, meanwhile the children can get friendly
with the donkeys and sheep. An ‘olde’ picture theatre houses the TV room;

complex with a farmlet attached, is a great place to base yourself in Hokitikia.
A well laid out camp, with established plantings and manicured lawns, the
powered sites form a semi-circle on one side of the central log cabin-style

hairdryers supplied, free showers, and a disability facility. The other side of the
building houses a modern kitchen/lounge with all facilities, and a dining room

place to sit to check emails with the free Wi-Fi. You will find a BBQ sheltering
under the eaves, as well as a spa pool and sauna for a small charge. The

Formerly All Seasons Taupo; a quiet family park, just over 1.5 km from the town centre but not part of
the bustle of the main tourist strip. This well-tended camp has around 70
sites. most are hedged and dotted with shady silver birch trees and plenty of
picnic tables. The excellent amenities include a sparkling kitchen and dining
area, electric hob cooking, basic cookware, fridge/freezer and lunch bar. A
lovely central flagstone quadrangle has gas BBQ and rustic timber-slab picnic
tables under shade sails. On cooler days head indoors for the TV room,
carpeted and cosy, or the well-equipped games room. Make the most of the
fresh air with the pleasant outdoor thermal pool and children’s playground.
The smart ablutions are light and bright, with excellent showers, a family and
disabled access suite and bathroom extras (liquid soap and paper towels). A
well-equipped laundry, dump station, internet kiosks and wireless hotspot are
provided on-site, and basic supplies in the shop. Your hosts are Carole and

The barrier arm entry ensures camp security and lots of mature trees, mainly pohutukawa, enhance the grounds. Choose from 70 powered sites, either in the main camp area at road level, or on the water_s edge across the road. A pretty stream divides the camp and you can feed the pet eels from the quaint footbridges. Plenty of smart ablutions and toilet blocks can be found throughout. Enjoy a modern central facilities block, with state-of-the-art fit-out in the caf_-style kitchen/dining area, ablutions and recreation areas. Everything has been thought of, with Sky TV lounge (huge screen!), gymnasium and sauna and a superb family room/nursery that is well-equipped with wet-day entertainment for the littlies. Even the superb laundry has had the treatment - with comfy seats and reading material provided. This attractive communal building spills out onto a landscaped dining/BBQ patio and pool area. Look for the signs pointing to the Wairakei Thermal Valley walk, it is well worth the trip up the gravel road. Tucked into a sheltered glade, this small appealing camp offers rustic appeal and farm animals galore! Your hosts, John and Cathy, run an on-site licensed restaurant that opens from 9am until late, you can also order a steam cooked meal from here, but their speciality are the Devonshire teas they provide. Sit round a large roaring fire or relax outdoors in the garden setting and feed the peacocks and chickens that wander free. Camping on the 25 powered sites under the trees is random in style with older style facilities. There is a simple kitchenette, free showers, toilets and a single auto washing machine. If you have time then explore the 30 minute thermal walk for a small additional charge, you won't be disappointed and see if you can spot some of the many native birds that abound in the trees. There is no wifi.

Then there are over 30 unpowered / tent sites with expansive unmarked space in the adjacent paddock can accommodate all types of vehicles buses, caravans, tents of all sizes. There is also remote riverside camping for self-contained vehicles only.

This camp is easily accessible in a level garden setting, and is only 6kms from Havelock. The ablution facilities are first class, with a disability unit, and the kitchen is excellent with a covered outside dining BBQ area. A good laundry and a comfortable TV and games room are provided in the 'Deadwood Saloon'. Trampoline and volleyball are available, the local river is good for trout fishing and many activities can be accessed from Havelock including the mail boat run. A sheltered camp where pockets of bush form natural barriers between
grouped sites, offering an away-from-it-all environment that has wekas in
residence. This camp is set up with families in mind, as you enter the camp
you will see the mini golf course where you can take some shots. there
is also a great children’s playground, and parents can watch from the new
outside deck and covered BBQ area. Plenty of room for all, there are 65
sites with power, plus numerous tent sites. The bright sunny kitchen, with
stove and fridge and all other amenities, is alongside a large TV/social room
with internet access. The smart ablutions have roomy showers, a child’s bath,
and dressing space with a seat, while all laundry facilities are automatic and
plentiful. A pleasant leafy retreat, brim-full of birdlife with an aviary for the
bird fanciers and chooks to feed. Wifi is available for a small fee, there is a free
carwash available too. Your friendly hosts are Roger and Margaret.

DESCRIPTION:

A few minutes walk to Whangarei city, very handy to shops and services.
A pedestrian bridge at the rear provides easy access to some local shops
although the camp store is well stocked. A choice of paved or lawn parking
for campervans is serviced by a wheelchair-friendly ablution block and dump
stations. The main amenities building has a ‘focal point’ kitchen, well equipped
and clean, that now opens to an eating area and comfortable lounge that has
easy chairs, TV, books, a phone and there is a playground for the kids. The
ablutions have well maintained showers. There is a good modern laundry.
Very big shady trees will protect you and the family from the worst of the heat.
A coin phone and internet facility are available, plus free use of the BBQ. Sites
at the back are occupied long term. All campsites are $18 per person. Pets
by arrangement. Your hosts are Brad and Clare.
