DESCRIPTION:

Situated in the heart of Whakapapa Village on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu, this
compact alpine park is nestled amongst mountain beech forest and a haven for
outdoor lovers. The sites are very appealing, each tucked into the bush with
space and privacy and the soothing sound of an alpine stream. A perfect base
for exploring the park, it offers 44 powered sites and around 8 tent sites. The
well-used amenities building is centrally located, with a fully-equipped kitchen
and dining facilities, a laundry and a drying room, but no recreation room. The
Whakapapa Store is open daily and meals and other services are close by. As
this is a National Park, no pets are permitted. A dump point is provided. Your
host is Garth and his team. All sites $17 per adult. Bookings are essential.

DESCRIPTION:

At the end of Beaumont Road you will find this affordable family camping spot in a picturesque, absolute lakefront setting. Enjoy the boat ramp, jetty and a safe sandy beach all on hand. An adventure playground is provided for the children. Facilities are adequate; the kitchen overlooks the lake and has picnic tables outside and the amenities block is roomy and caters for wheelchairs. A few shady trees dot the grounds and some of the 20 or so spacious powered sites reserved for casual campers have unobstructed beach frontage and peaceful lake views. A conference/recreation room can be utilised and the all-weather BBQ pavilion is a bonus for those long summer nights. A laundry and dump point are provided and boat parking can be arranged.

A small, intimate campground, two minutes walk from where the Waitahanui
Trout fishing stream enters Lake Taupo. Campervan-friendly all year round
with 12 powered sites and several unpowered. Well-used camp amenities
include a kitchen with all the basics, free showers, toilets and a laundry. Your
hosts Richard and Sandy are to be found running the adjoining local dairy that
offers food, supplies and postal services. As this is ‘fisherfolk heaven’, you can
hire rods and waders and purchase tackle from them as well. Fish cleaning
and smoking facilities are provided. Campervan sites are from $35 for two.
Seasonal rates apply.
