Although not right on the beach, this attractive camp has the entire beach  ambience and its own walking track to the sand. Paraparaumu is a thriving community, with an excellent shopping mall and vast array of eating places.
Well-hedged, landscaped and sheltered, this camp has a number of long-term campers in residence, but there are still plenty of sites for casuals. A nice touch is the ability to shower and wash in the privacy of your own en-suite facility on each campsite. There is a communal laundry with all the facilities and near the rear of the camp is a modern kitchen. Sorry, no pets or dogs allowed.

Camp in a picturesque setting between the beach (5 min walk) and hills of the Aupouri Peninsula north of Kaitaia. A perfect place for fishing, swimming and walking.

With lush forests in close range and sandy beaches right on your doorstep, Kapowairua is a place to relax, enjoy and explore the great outdoors.

Following Huia Road from Titirangi, Barn Paddock campsite, on the Western
side of Huia Bay, is part of the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. Combining
remote camping with an operating farm. Barn Paddock, is an undulating grassy
area surrounded by high, thickly wooded hills, with many walking tracks of
varying levels of difficulty nearby. There is cold water, long-drop toilets and an
all-purpose building with sinks, storage capacity or shelter from the elements.
Tent sites are $6 per adult and $4 per child. Annual camping passes are
available. Barn Paddock campsite, has a no animal and fire restriction.

Take the southern approach to Katikati, Turn west into Wharawhara Road
about 300m south of the Katikati boundary and head 1.5km inland If it’s a
clothes-free camping experience you are after, this is your place in the sun!
Eight acres of rolling grounds have been lovingly landscaped and designed with the outdoor lifestyle in mind. With 51 powered sites, you can camp near
the boundary stream, or close to the bush. Recreation time has been well
catered for, with a big outdoor chess and draughts board, miniputt, volleyball,
Frisbee, golf and petanque for when the sun is shining, or when it’s not - head
to the recreation hall for a game of pool or your favourite TV programme. At
the heart of the park is a lovely free-form swimming pool and sauna room,
with an adjacent spa pools set under a leafy, roofed deck. The amenities
include a spacious kitchen with full stove, microwave, gas rings, fridge/freezer
and dining space. You can choose between unisex communal showers or a
separate private bathroom suite (which also has disabled access). An internet
kiosk and wireless hotspot are available. There is an automatic laundry. Your
new hosts, Tom and Ami  welcome new-comers to naturism and
open the park to day visitors for a small charge. All sites are $17 per adult,

The Kauaeranga Valley has many campgrounds nestled beside the Kauaeranga River, which flows down from the Coromandel Ranges through the valley.

Kaupokonui Beach Motor Camp is located on Kaupokonui Heads Road – Off Lower Glenn Road, Manaia.

Kaupokonui is a beautiful unique setting with many original kiwi baches surrounding the campsite and lower reserve. It is a very family friendly place and well worth the trip. The campground boasts recently renovated cabins, 1 cabin sleeps up to 5 and a big family cabin that can sleep up to 7. There are also 26 powered sites and unpowered sites. There is a small shop that opens during the summer that provides basic necessities. Also available; children’s play area, river for swimming and fishing – as well as a safe swimming area in the sea and surf beach.

Kawhatau Base Access is now available via a 9.5 km walk up the Kawhatau River, starting where the Rangitane Road bridge crosses the Kawhatau River. Beware this route may not be accessible during times of high river flow. To get to the Rangitane Road bridge, head north from Mangaweka and turn right off SH1. Cross the Rangitikei River and follow Kawhatau Valley Road. This eventually leads to Upper Kawhatau Valley Road which becomes Rangitane Road. The bridge is just past the Smiths Road turn off. Please note there is no car park.

Kawhia Beachside S-Cape Holiday Park is a small, waterside camp on the approach to Kawhia, it commands lovely harbour views. Laid out in a u-shape fashion, there are 15 sites, 11 with power. At the heart of the camp is a large kitchen with multiple fridges and freezers, 3 full stoves, a microwave as well as cookware, crockery and cutlery. There are lots of tables for dining, both inside and out, a BBQ and a cosy recreation room with SKY TV and books and reading material. From the town centre, follow the signs to the boat ramp at Karewa Beach and
you’ll spot this camp on the way. The closest camp to the hotwater beach
springs (4 km away) you can borrow a spade to create your personal ‘beach
spa’. The grounds are pleasantly landscaped with level lawn sites backing onto
avenues of willow trees. There are 14 powered sites available for travellers.
The kitchen is light and airy with microwave, full stove, hobs, fridge and freezer
and an outdoor dining nook. In the ablutions block the free showers have
been modernised and a new disabled access/family suite is provided. There is
a porch-style automatic laundry. A fish cleaning area and fish smoker are here.

Look for the large entrance to the motel, opposite Countdown supermarket.
A convenient stopover that can accommodate larger vehicles. The little camp
area is tucked at the rear of the motels. There are 15 hard-stand powered
sites, plus a few grassy spots for tents. The camper’s amenity block has an
airy kitchen/dining room with all the essential appliances, plus TV. Ablutions
include a toilet and shower room for each sex and a separate disabled access
suite. A coin-operated laundry, swimming pool and small children’s play area are provided. Your hosts are Ronnie and Jackie. All powered sites are $15 per person and non-powered sites $13 per person.

Take the Kellys Bay turnoff as signposted from Pouto Rd. The next 6 km is metal (slow down and take quietly).

This is home to spectacular flocks of oyster catchers, stilts, terns and other sea birds. The camp is a tidy level grassed area across the road from the waters of this quiet sheltered bay.

There are 14 power and 10 non powered sites. Facilities are minimal, water taps and clean long drop toilets only.

A two cubicle shed is provided so you can use your own solar shower.

There is good shell and boat fishing, while the children have a safe swimming beach and colourful play equipment.

This extensive holiday resort, set in 17 well-groomed acres, is easy to find, right in the heart of Napier. A huge array of family-friendly features include a childrens holiday programme, awesome play area with jumping pillow and fenced, heated swimming pool, pedal car hire and a suite of recreational

Country camping, but only a short walk from the southern end of Kerikeri
township. The terrain is on several levels above the Puketotara River with
the main facilities on the central terrace. This park is very well served by
clean ablutions. There is a steep access to the flat power sites at various
levels. A large area of level open camping along the river is ideal for tenting.
The kitchen is well laid out and has all ‘mod-cons’. The mix-and-mingle BBQ
complex has a roll-back roof and a log-burning fireplace. A separate Internet
and TV lounge has been set aside for both camp Internet and wireless. Your

Ideally placed for a midway stopover, about 60 km inland from Napier on
the Napier-Taihape road, is a newly opened DOC campsite. Just north of
Kiripapango, at the edge of the Forest Park, you can camp on a rambling site
on terraces above the Ngaruroro River. Camp across several grassy levels
in a bush-clad, steep-sided valley. Around 10 gravel hardstands are provided
on the upper terraces for campervans (no power), whilst on the lower levels
there are many great spots for tents amongst the bush and scrub. New ecotoilets are scattered about the camp and theres a bit of a steep walk down
to the river for your water supply! A popular spot for river rafting and fshing.
Camping costs $5 per night.

This is a lovely family campsite beside a creek. Near an old logging and exotic forestry trial area. Walk through native forest to Blue Range hut, 2 hours one way. Walk the 1 hour loop track or the tramline track to the base of the hill (2-3 km one way).

In the heart of kiwifruit country, beside the ‘hard-to-miss’ giant kiwifruit slice at the Kiwi 360 tourist attraction, is this purpose-built, accommodation complex. The new facilities will be hard to beat and the location is a handy one for visiting all that the Bay of Plenty has to offer. Call in and check it out! The outstanding kitchen facilities, toilet and separate shower block are large. There are 30 powered sites at $15 per person. Tent sites at $15 per person. The  ‘Kiwi’ Tourist centre next door is worth a visit. The accommodation manager is Wes Archer.

This tiny campsite fts neatly in between the baches and houses that make up
the Koitiata community. The big point of interest here is the Turakina Reserve
which is at the midpoint of the longest sand dune system in New Zealand.
The beach, estuary and lagoon are home to an impressive range of native
wading birds, plants and invertebrates. Just across the road is a lovely kids play
area and BBQ picnic area. There is great fshing on the beach. Bring all your
supplies as there is no beach store for 8km. A single hot shower is unlocked
for campers and there are two toilets and an. open-air kitchen porch which
has a sink and a washing machine. The facilities are clean but the water here
is drawn from an iron-rich bore so things might look a bit rusty. Separate
drinking water is available. Pet friendly. The camp wardens, Tom and Trish live at 15 Rapaki Street, through the gate at the back of the camping area which
is where you go to pay camp fees of $12 for one of the 8 powered sites plus $2 per person. Tent sites are $6 plus $2 per person. Children up to 12 free.
Plenty of space, so no need to book.

4km north of Opononi turn off SHwy12 onto Koutu Loop Road. The camping
and picnic area is 3km from the highway. This is no frills camping on a grassy
plateau, surrounded on 3 sides by the Hokianga Harbour, with superb views.
You will need to be fully self-contained as the only facilities are some picnic
tables. There is no water, or power but there is a long drop toilet. There is
a boat ramp nearby. Camping costs $10 per night per van and can be put in
the honesty system at the small shed at the entrance. Big area of sites. Sid
and Donna live at 825 Koutu Loop Rd which is the first house on the road
from the main road.

A little under half-way between Whitianga and Coromandel, this pleasant park
is now run by the resident shareholders. Casual campers are welcome. A
stunning white sandy beach is across the road, with a camp-side stream and
a handy boat ramp. Check-in at the large, well-stocked shop that is open all
year round, although its hours can vary. Try the fast-food service with onsite
delivery available on Friday and Saturday nights. The camping area is dotted
with shady trees and is nicely groomed. The amenities block is squeaky clean
with roomy, metered showers, and toilets that provide for disabled access. The
laundry is well equipped and there is a bait shed. The kitchen has stainless
steel benches, hobs, microwave cooking and fridge/freezers. It opens to an
attractive gazebo that houses BBQs and offers a shaded dining space. For
boaties, the paved car and boat washing area alongside a fish cleaning bench
will be well used. There is a dump station, internet kiosks, an outdoor shower
enclosure and flourishing gardens. Pets allowed except high season and public

From SHwy 2 west of Dannevirke turn into Maharahara Road, then Kumeti Road and follow to the road end. You will find basic camping (toilets and BBQs only) in a sheltered, bushy glade. Water from the nearby stream must be
boiled before drinking. Day walks over the Ruahine Range can be planned
from here.

This campsite, on the western shores of the Waikato River, is perfect for swimming, picnicking, fishing and other water sports.

The camp has 2 boat ramps but no showering facilities.

Well worth a trip to explore the wild southern coast! This camp is at the roadend, on the shores of Lake Onoke (Lake Ferry), a 1 hour drive from Wellington or a 20 minute drive from Martinborough. Popular for fishing, surfing, boating and access to the nearby Pinnacles, bird watchers are drawn to the nearby Onoke Spit just a pleasant walk from the camp. There is a boat launching area and a playground for children both at the camp and in the domain next door. Stunning views, plenty of trees and lake shore campsites make for an enjoyable stay. The amenities are large with a laundry, excellent showers and clean toilets. The kitchen has all the facilities , with an adjacent room for doing the dishes. A covered deck with picnic tables is off the kitchen.

As you pass through Huntly, look for the TransitNZ camp signs on the
northern outskirts. Nestled on the shores of Lake Hakanoa (not suitable for
swimming), lies a delightful small camp, hidden away from the passing traffic. On the grassy banks overlooking the lake are 49 sites with power and plenty of room for tents. Well-groomed and level, they come with their own friendly Pukeko who live in the lake-edge wetlands. A nearby domain offers pleasant gardens, the town swimming pool and an excellent playground for children. Enjoy a loop walk round the lake to the ‘Green Cathedral’. The amenities are immaculate and have free showers. The kitchen has plenty of bench space, cooking appliances and some crockery and cutlery. An automatic laundry and dump point are provided. Camping, picnicking and boating are all popular recreational activities at Lake Rerewhakaaitu. A significant site for wildlife, the lake supports breeding populations of dabchicks, scaup and banded dotterel.

Two Department of Conservation campsites around the lake are at Ash Pit Road Campsite and Brett Road Campsite.

Take the famous Spa Road nearly to the end to find this resort spread across 20 acres of grounds. The main attraction here are the thermally heated swimming facilities with a brand new pool complete with a swim up bar and cafe. Check in at the resort style reception at the gate, which includes a well stocked shop and booking service for local tourist attractions. Each of the 140 spacious powered campsites have a tap and sump and there is an equal number of tent sites. The modern facilities include immaculately kept kitchens that open to attractively paved BBQ patio, and a separate building has a cosy TV room with large screen Sky TV and a well-equipped games room alongside. The Lake Waikaremoana track (located in the south-west corner of the 212,673 hectare Te Urewera National Park) is a 46 kilometre 3 to 4 day tramping track which follows the shore of the lake for most of its length. It is one of a network of great walks managed by DOC throughout New Zealand. Before you go you must book huts and campsites for everyone who is intending to do the walk. This includes those children and young people under 18 years who do not have to pay fees. Find out about fees and bookings. The walk traverses a range of terrain with many types of vegetation from the montane beech forest of the Panekire Bluffs to dense rainforest. Podocarp mixed broadleaf forest is dominant in many areas. Bird life in the area is abundant. A moderate tramp, with magnificent scenery and plenty of opportunity for swimming and fishing ensure the walk is well used throughout the year.

Off SHwy 3, this hidden gem is just 4 km south of Wanganui beside pretty
Lake Wiritoa. The groomed grounds are huge (5 hectares) and you can camp
either in the bays beside the roadside macracarpa hedge or at the other end
(up past the caretaker’s house) on the tree-shaded lakefront. 28 powered
sites and unlimited tenting space make for a relaxed camping experience.
There are several blocks of well-appointed, spotlessly clean amenities around
the grounds. The water is from an Artisian well. Kayaks and canoes are
available for hire for campers or try the confdence course, fshing or hiking.
There is a dump site. No animals please. Your friendly hosts are Darryl and

Located on a 120 acre property at Tikitere,15 km from central Rotorua, this
camp includse an extensive range of activities such as heated and cold pools,
a lake amongst surrounding farmland, bush walks, glow worms, kayaking, tennis
and horse riding by arrangement. More exciting activities such as archery, slug
guns, and a climbing wall, but the camping facilities are minimal with the kitchen,
showers, and toilets all situated some distance from the actual camping area.
There is however disabled facilities, plentiful water and dump station, as well
as plenty of shady trees around the 16 powered sites camping sites, and many
tent sites. A Christian youth camp that caters mainly to groups, weekends are
best for short term stays. Powered from $20 for two adults, non-powered for
$15 for two adults.

Around 1.5 hours drive west of Napier, is a pleasant basic campsite surrounded
by pine trees. Facilities include toilets, BBQ area and cooking shelter, with
water supply from the stream. Please note: logging trucks use the road, so
drive slowly and keep left.

There are showers, toilets and a kitchen available. You can use the lounge in
the Lodge. Enjoy a BBQ on a lazy summer evening. Unpowered sites are $12

Just off the motorway, turn off at the Lindale exit north of Paraparaumu. Lindale Farm Park tourist complex is right next door and the popular Southwards Car Museum just 5 minutes away. 45 fully-serviced lawn sites have shrub surrounds for privacy and the smart amenities. This very popular camp commands a prime position on the beach front.
Follow the signs to Long Bay from the main T-intersection in the middle of
Coromandel township. Discover why this spot is such a great place for fishing!
The camp has two distinct waterfront areas, Long Bay and Tucks Bay. Tucks
Bay has long-drop toilets and no power, but is quietly appealing. The Long
Bay site has bright, clean amenities. The roomy metered showers are tiled
and there appears to be ample modern toilet facilities. The compact kitchen
has two stoves, microwave and TV. A gas BBQ in a roofed shelter offers
a pleasant dining alternative. An automatic laundry and dump station are
provided. Ideally suited for the boatie, fish-cleaning and smoking facilities are
on hand. At the camp entrance, the on-site shop has basic supplies including
expresso coffee, ice creams, bait and ice and a public phone. The camp has
100 sites, 50 with power and most with spectacular views across the bay. Your

Located in Whanganui National Park in the Manawatu/Whanganui region

This holiday park is located between Gisborne & Warioa on the sunny Mahia Peninsula. Mahurangi West
Driving North on State Highway 1, 6km past Wenderholm Regional Park,
turnright into Mahurangi West Rd then right into Ngarewa Drive and follow
tothe end of the road. There is another 8km to travel, the last 2 of which are
unsealed. There are two remote camping sites within the park. Te Muri Beach
and Mita Bay, both of which have no power and no vehicle access. Adults
$6 and children $4. For camping with vehicle access, there is Sullivan’s Bay,
adjacent to a delightful beach with grassy banks and pohutukawa trees for
shade. Adults $13 and children $6 The park also has toilets (some with
wheelchair access).

Mahurangi East
Access to Mahurangi East is by boat or kayak only. There is a small remote
camp site in a natural setting, handy to two beaches. Amenities include
long droptoilet and drinking water. It is only a short distance by water from
Mahurangi West or Salt Point. $6 per adult and $4 per child. There is a
designated area for self-contained campervans at Mahurangi West. Annual
passes are available for non-peak period camping. Dogs are not permitted at
Mahurangi East or West. There are no rubbish bins provided so be prepared
to take all rubbish when you leave

Camp on the outer Karikari Peninsula in a sheltered bay with campsites nestled amongst beautiful pohutukawa trees.

This is a popular place for families and boaties. Walk around the coast or relax on the picturesque white sandy beach.

This charming little camp at Maketu is on absolute beachfront. The sheltered waters provide a wonderful beach playground for children, with rock pools and endless sand. Flat, grassy sites are spread across several seaside terraces connected by flights of steps and all with amazing sea views. The prime, lower-beachfront campervan sites are really quite something! The log-style ablutions are modern with free showers. The smart little kitchen has a TV, the usual appliances, and a covered porch BBQ/dining area with awesome views. The laundry has automatic machines. A licensed seaside cafe/restaurant at the park entrance is a pleasant place to spend some time, and you can get basic food items and takeaway meals here too. 2 km from Maketu and three local beaches, set on an elevated site, this camp
enjoys delightful landscaped gardens with rural views and many homely touches.
Check in at the modern office which carries a few basic supplies. The kids
have a great playground, a large solar heated swimming pool, plus a friendly
pony, birds, turtles etc. The amenities are excellent and include a smart, partly
covered pool next to the kitchen. Here there are modern appliances and a
dining space. The ablutions have free showers, disabled access/family suite and
plenty of bathroom extras. An automatic laundry and dump point are here
too. About 30 sites are available, all with power. When it comes to relaxing,
there is a TV lounge and games room, wireless hotspot and internet kiosks
and a great covered BBQ garden with tables and outdoor lighting. To support
the local kiwifruit industry, the camp has two distinct seasons, a summer one
to cater for holiday makers and a winter one to accommodate the seasonal

Makotuku is situated between Dannevirke and Ormondville 19 kms and 7kms respectively.
The Domain is a large tree lined area with large oaks, the grandstand has great history, being the only domain grandstand left in the Tararua district.
Temporarily for Self contained vehicles only, pet friendly with powered and unpowered sites

Mangatutu Hot Springs is a popular camping, picnic and fishing spot, and a starting point for tramping, hunting or day walks up the Mohaka River and further into the Kaweka Forest Park. Mangatutu hot springs There are barbecues, picnic tables and toilets located in secluded clearings among the manuka surrounds, and there are access tracks descending to the Mohaka River. The main feature here is the thermal springs. Thermal water issues from a deep, undercut, steaming hole on the top terrace. The water trickles down a riverside bluff and after a short way is channelled into two pools.

Number of tent sites - 20 Camp beside one of the few remaining historic Howe truss bridges. Walks from the campsite include Little Manganuku and the Manganuku track. Good river fishing.

This is a boat-in only campsite on the Whanganui Journey. There is no drive on access.
