This is a large country camp with plentiful facilities, including those for disabled people. There are a lot of permanents in this park, but it is done very well. An immaculate kitchen has a microwave, rangettes and fridge/freezer. The laundry includes a children’s bath and use of an iron. The ablution blocks are very spacious with lots of good showers. A smaller kitchen and a laundry have been added to help in the busy season. A separate TV/dining room has double doors opening to the garden, where there is a children’s play area. Much hard work has been put into landscaping the grounds, which are colourful and well kept. Play golf on the 10-hole par 3 golf course, and eftpos is available. Please and make sure you book in advance as there are limited sites.

This boutique camping spot by the hotel/cafe has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and picturesque surroundings. With lovingly landscaped grounds, and flowers and trees all around, this is a peaceful spot. It's not a huge amount of ground, but there are two power points and room for tents, there is also a small kitchen with a microwave and fridges. Laundry facilities are available on request, and there are good toilets and showers here. Take advantage of the full restaurant,or stop in and have a beer at the bar with your friendly host Keith Fenwick.
Tent sites are $10 per person or with power from $20.

A family park on a grand scale, this camp has 400 sites, a well-stocked dairy
and is only a 500m stroll to the beach. Bordered by a wetland reserve with
walking tracks to the beach and picnic reserve, the wildlife park, flying fox,
adrenalin forest and orienteering will help fill your holiday days. The grounds
have many large shady trees and BBQs are scattered throughout the three
camping areas. Each area has its own ablution block, some may be closed out
of season. A well-appointed clean kitchen has good appliances. The modern
TV/dining room is carpeted and has comfy chairs. The tiled ablutions are light  and airy and include a bath and disability toilets. There is a covered BBQ area,
mini golf, and tennis courts. The children can enjoy an excellent playground.

grounds that are pleasantly landscaped, with its own mini golf course. The
service block is eye-catching, with an interesting paint splatter effect on the
floors, modern and clean. There are good clean metered showers and a
disability suite and the communal kitchen has all amenities. Automatic machines
are in the laundry and wireless internet is available. A great attraction is a
gazebo with novel wooden tables radiating out from the gas BBQs (a charge
applies). There are 34 large sites with power and a dump point, and your hosts
are Dianne and Norris. Tent sites are $26 for one person or $36 for two, an
extra adult will cost $18. Power sites are $30 for a single person, $42 for two,

The wild wild west comes to the South Island in this campground based in rural
farmland. Buildings that range from logs cabins to corrugated huts, through
to mud brick houses, it is an interesting place to recharge your batteries, or a comfortable stopover on your journey. A large and level grassed area is
provided for both powered and non powered sites, with very large trees for
shade. Not wanting anyone to be hemmed in, there is plenty of space for
everyone. Rustic and quirky are words that come to mind here, don't expect
spotless amenities and manicured lawns. Facilities include showers and toilets,
a small camp kitchen, and a large common room with table tennis and large
couches so you have somewhere out of the rain if needed. The outside BBQ
dining area, doubles as the limited wifi hotspot.  Walks through the forest, huge
trees to admire, or look at the 'old stuff' shed. Your hosts are Stephen and
Linda and a site will cost $18 per person.

Two large laundry rooms, complete with book lending libraries, and a toddlers/babies wash and changing room. Whitebaiting in season, fishing, surfing or swimming are yours to enjoy, this camp is well suited for a family holiday with an onsite playground as well as another playground and paddling pool just down the road. Wifi is available, there is also a TV and seating in a well-renovated container as well as a herb garden outside. Your friendly hosts are Rex and Debbie Jefcoate. Don't expect manicured lawns and clearly marked sites in this cute little camp with a difference. Lovely gardens hide a multitude of historic railway guard vans, five powered sites and the room for tents. You can cook a meal at the station kitchen which doubles as a dining room. A lovely outside dining and BBQ area, covered with climbing plants and including a swing seat, is available also. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and the separate TV and recreation room includes comfy seating and a large TV. The ablutions area is clean, and have free showers, there is also a coin operated laundry available. A children's play area has a climbing frame and there is a large chess set on the paving stones. Your friendly hosts are David and Karen. Amberley is just 10km away for supplies, and please note there is no eftpos available. Power sites are $30 for two plus $10 each extra person, a tent site is $25 plus $10 per extra person.

  With its large and spacious grounds, the pine trees that surround it, and the
many shade trees, this campground has a peacefulness about it.  Only half
an hour from Christchurch, you don't have to go far to get away. As you
drive through the camp on the sealed roads, the funky wooden people signs
will help you navigate your way around the masses of campsites amongst
large trees. Tidy, clean ablution blocks are scattered throughout the camp, all
have disability facilities. There are two clean and tidy kitchens, one featuring
a recycled timber bench top, there is also covered outside dining provided.
Auto machines and dryers are available in the laundries and a dump station
is available. Children will enjoy the adventure playgrounds, the room to bike
around, and swimming at the safe beach just over the dunes. Jan Reid is your
friendly host. Power sites $34 for two adulst, $7 for a child, unpowered sites
$15 for an adult, $7 for a child.

Take the winding 9km drive through the hills to Wainui, it is worth it. Register
at the main office, then take the second gate on your right, this area is set aside
for casual campers: the main part of the camp is for organized groups. Here
there is a pleasant tenting area surrounded by trees with some sites on the
riverbank, where you can listen to the birds singing and the crickets chirping. It
is serviced by a small number of facilities and a kitchen. There are three levels
of camping and three power sites - you may need a long lead. Tent sites from
$15 per adult plus extra $10 per site for power (min charge $20 per site). The
manager is Mike Linton.
