The first camp at Anatori is a high camp by the beach which is popular but there isn’t much space. Right on the edge of the Anatori River Mouth it’s quite exposed and not really suitable for large vehicles. If you travel a little further you will come to the river, where there is plenty of room. It’s flat with easy access and has a safe, shallow river with a good swimming hole. This site is more sheltered, however apparently it’s prone to flooding during heavy rain.
To get to the end of the road, from the Anatori river, cross the ford and travel about 12km to the Turimawiwi River.

What a lovely setting this camp has, nestled in a sheltered valley with native bush and only a few minutes from Kaiteriteri beach. This peaceful park-like camp is only a short drive to the start of the Abel Tasman track, and you can enjoy kayaking, swimming and tramping from here. Lots of space to choose from; larger groups take advantage of the communal hall in one camping area over the summer period, while another is open all year round, or you can get back to basic camping in the wilderness area and experience long drop toilets. Plentiful ablutions no matter which area you decide to camp in, all spotlessly clean and of good quality. The covered deck where you can sit in the shade and watch the children on the playground, is just one of the family orientated facilities available here. There is also a comfortably furnished lounge and a good dining area, and fully automated laundry facilities. A children_s programme operates at Christmas time and there are other summer activities such as music, movies in the hall and a water slide. Also in summer only is an onsite cafe, a real fruit ice cream truck that also sells fruit and veges. So many things for children and their families to do here, volley ball, a beautifully made concrete table tennis table, paddock golf, petanque, or take a walk to the hustle and bustle on the main beach. There are plenty of sites, with and without power, and some special large ones for big rigs, as well as offering accommodation over winter. Your friendly hosts are Roger and Sue. All tent sites are from $25, powered sites are from $35, and your pets welcome from February to end of November

Pakawau Beach Park Camp is located a 35 minute drive from Takaka, these beachside sites are protected from the onshore wind by borders of shrubs and trees without blocking the gorgeous view. There are more sites in the hedge bordered avenues back from the beach as well, with the odd BBQ table scattered around. The kitchen has a gas hob, microwave, fridges and a freezer, while the dining area is housed in a separate room with BBQ picnic tables. The well used ablutions are roomy and clean, with spacious cubicles for the showers and a disability suite is available.
The laundry has automatic washers and dryer, all token operated. A children’s play area is close to the main amenities block and there is a boat ramp for campers to use, but a 4WD is required. Across the road is a licensed café restaurant with a garden bar and you can use the tennis court situated there. The Gateway to Westhaven Inlet is a magical place to go fishing, bird watching, or a walk to the Kaihoka lakes. It is only a 10 to15 minute drive to the Farewell Spit, Puponga Farm Park walks and the stunning Wharariki Beach.

This is a walk-in campsite on the Heaphy Track. Situated in the fold of Perry Saddle with high hills either side, it has an alpine feel, along with spectacular views.
Located in Kahurangi National Park in the Nelson/Tasman region.
A large camp with spacious sites, this is right on the edge of a sweeping beach with a boundary of sheltering trees. Roughly 240 sites are available, and you will awake to the sound of the waves on the beach. There is an easy boat ramp and a 7-day store. Two service blocks with modern kitchens and dining have all facilities; tiled ablutions, disability suites and laundries. Two other ablution blocks are within the grounds, and a Sky TV lounge has internet access. All facilities are spotlessly clean, bright and airy, and there is a good supply of outdoor taps, as well as a car wash and dump station. Directly across the road are several restaurants and bars, or sit at one of the lovely outdoor covered dining areas and cook on the BBQs provided. This is a well-maintained park with a children's playground and your hosts are Del and Brent Clarke. All sites from $20 per person. Minimum and seasonal rates apply.
