Situated in the hills above Akaroa village, this park has an enviable location. Carefully maintained, some of the terraced sites have bay views. Easy access with trim flowerbeds at each level of the 150 sites. Most have power, storm
water drains and taps. An area is available for boat parking and there are two dump points in the camp. There is a big in-ground swimming pool on the upper level and a good children’s playground. Enjoy views over the bay from the attractive kitchen or use the gas BBQ. TV rooms are provided and internet access. The amenities include excellent showers and automatic laundry equipment. It is an easy walk to the township for shopping, but a climb on the way back. In summer, ice creams and drinks are available at the office. Your friendly hosts are Kylee and Tracy.

At the end of the road, 2km from Hanmer Village, is this extensive park with spacious sites and lovely mountain views. Well-serviced with sealed roads and over 60 campsites, there are also large trees for shade. The clean kitchen has all appliances with a dining area next door, as well as BBQ tables outside under shade sails. The ablutions are excellent and have a disability unit, there is also a drying room opening off the laundry. The separate games room has
table tennis, pool and air hockey as well as arcade games, and you won't find a better children's playground - it comes complete with an initiative course! For those who want to relax, there is a comfy TV lounge with an internet station,
a petanque pit, or cool off in the swimming pool. There are bikes available for hire, both children and adult sizes available. Wireless internet and a dump station are here for campers.

Two large sheltered areas with a scattering of trees, you can see and hear the
beach, but unfortunately stop banks means you can't see it. The northern end
of the camp boasts a new toilet block, with a unisex shower that doubles as
a disability unit. There is also a solar shower room available, complete with
rope and pulley.  On the southern side of the camp, is a basic but clean block
of toilets and a dump point, water is also available but as it is gravity fed it takes
a while to fill a tank.  There are wood BBQs, a tennis court, children's play
area and rubbish collection.

There are 16 powered sites.

The picturesque Belt Road Seaside Holiday Park urban camp offers level, cliff-top sites with spectacular views over the New Plymouth harbour and port. Mature Pohutukawa trees shade the grounds. Hedged private sites are very inviting. There are around 70 sites with power, plus 43 for tents. Amenities are plentiful and well maintained. Ablutions are in four separate blocks with key access (no extra to pay) and two disabled/family bathrooms are available. Newest communal facility, boast unisex cubicles, including a family bathroom and a disabled bathroom, super large kitchen, laundry, and a lounge with Sky TV (Sports and movies) The three kitchens have a range of cooking options, coffee and food dispensing kiosks and there_s a large covered outdoor area with a coin-operated BBQ. Three well-equipped laundries and a dump point are provided. To keep the smaller members of the family entertained there is a trampoline, and playground. Nearby activities include access to a boat ramp, game fishing, the aquatic centre, mineral pools, or try the coastal walk that starts from the camp and heads straight down to Breakerwater Bay shops and cafes. Or hire a bike from the office if you want to head a bit further afield. Internet access is available throughout the camp. Fish cleaning facilities and a bait freezer are on site. An enjoyable suburban motor camp, thoughtfully laid-out in a u-shape, but without the glitz of some of the bigger urban camps. You can relax under avenues of shady trees, on box-hedged, sheltered sites that lie well to the sun. 38 sites have power, most have taps and there is plenty of room for tents. An awesome double-storey playhouse and slide will be a hit with the kids. There is a compact kitchen with fridge/freezer, gas stoves and hobs and a selection of small appliances. The modern ablutions have roomy, free showers and two separate disabled access/family bathroom suites. Extras include a drinks vending machine and TV lounge, along with an internet kiosk. An automatic laundry (with soap vending machine) and a dump station is provided. As this is a busy urban camp, it is wise to pre-book all year round.

roomy grassed sites, 76 of which have power. There is a good playground that
includes a jumping pillow, and the kitchen and dining complex is attractive and
well equipped. Outside there is a pleasant BBQ pavilion for alfresco dining.
The spotless ablutions have a disability/infant suite and the laundry has fully
automatic equipment. You can enjoy either the outdoor, heated swimming
pool or the popular spa pool, and a card phone is provided for your use. Fish
cleaning facilities are available and there is a dump point, as well as internet

Kaupokonui is a beautiful unique setting with many original kiwi baches surrounding the campsite and lower reserve. It is a very family friendly place and well worth the trip. The campground boasts recently renovated cabins, 1 cabin sleeps up to 5 and a big family cabin that can sleep up to 7. There are also 26 powered sites and unpowered sites. There is a small shop that opens during the summer that provides basic necessities. Also available; children’s play area, river for swimming and fishing – as well as a safe swimming area in the sea and surf beach.

Magnificent manicured lightly terraced grounds lead gently down to a natural swimming pool in the river. The sites are large and well treed, many having
their own picnic tables and there are vast open areas for recreation and a

the river. A kauri servery opens to the spacious wood panelled social/dining

and dryer. Internet access is available. At the office/shop you can arrange a
guided night walk where you may see a kiwi roaming. Bookings essential for

2 km from Maketu and three local beaches, set on an elevated site, this camp

Check in at the modern office which carries a few basic supplies. The kids

pony, birds, turtles etc. The amenities are excellent and include a smart, partly
covered pool next to the kitchen. Here there are modern appliances and a

plenty of bathroom extras. An automatic laundry and dump point are here
too. About 30 sites are available, all with power. When it comes to relaxing,
there is a TV lounge and games room, wireless hotspot and internet kiosks
and a great covered BBQ garden with tables and outdoor lighting. To support
the local kiwifruit industry, the camp has two distinct seasons, a summer one
to cater for holiday makers and a winter one to accommodate the seasonal

is a five minute walk to 90 Mile Beach. A central building contains all of the

the beach with sheltering trees at the rear and a swimming pool. There is a

On a pleasant, slightly elevated site this camp is across the road from the
beach. There is a vista of sand dunes and sparkling water from most parts of
the camp. The kitchen has microwave, gas hot plate cooking, 3 fridge/freezers
and opens to a recently extended covered dining deck with a large macrocapa
topped table. The BBQ is free and there is plenty of seating. The ablutions
are positioned at either end of the building and are in a tidy condition. There
is also a children’s play area. Goats around the camp are keeping the grass on
the banks down. Jenny and Harry Barlow are your hosts. Tent sites are $18
per person and with power $20.

This long established, charming camp occupies a wonderful site between a safe beach and a boundary of bush. There is a lovely walk from here to Paihia 3.0 km away. This very popular holiday spot has about 90 sites, 58 with power. If you are lucky you can pitch your tent with the water almost lapping at the door. The kitchen, although mainly gas, does have an electric stove. Outside is a large covered BBQ/dining deck, placed to enjoy all the activities in the Bay. Listen up cooks! There is an old dinghy filled with herbs to add dinnertime flavour. Well presented showers and toilets. The laundry is equipped with automatic machines and a freezer. More like a mini village than a camping ground, this 34-acre park rambles along the hills above the northern end of Red Beach. There are narrow winding streets, individually named, and clusters of own-your-own cottages with permanently leased sites. Mature trees shelter the attractive communal grassed area near the park entrance which has an excellent children_s playground and a small stage where live bands play and budding stars can practice. Alongside is a recreation hall with extra facilities. There are six small amenities blocks with brand new dining facilities next to a kitchen. A good tenting area with a BBQ available. There is internet access and you can master the game of table tennis. Xmas and New Year entertainment is a feature. Dogs are not permitted. A 'Jacob's Ladder' gives direct access to the beach at the north end of the park and a footbridge provides access to Red Beach, a Life guard serviced beach at the southern end.

Follow the signposts from S Hwy 10. There is 11km of sealed road to Taupo Bay. The level lawn sites are partially shaded by trees and lead through to a stunning beach. A well stocked general store is open all day during the holiday season and at weekends but just odd hours in the off season. Eftpos service and a coffee machine are available. The kitchen is roomy with plenty of refrigerator space. There are hot plates and microwaves for cooking while outside is a covered dining area with a BBQ. Here you can sit and watch your children on the play equipment. You’ll find a comfortable carpeted TV lounge where videos are freely available. The ablutions have ample toilets and metered, curtained showers, with liquid soap at the basins. The laundry has automatic washers and dryers. Boats up to 22ft can be launched from here. A boat wash and fish cleaning facilities are available too. Kayaks, snorkelling and fishing gear can be hired. Although summer holidays are busy, this is off-the-beaten-track camping. Powered sites are from $20 per person and tent sites are from $18. Seasonal rates apply.

Enjoy the 1.2 hectares of camp, offering plenty of shelter and shade. We have a self-contained 2 bedroom cabin, kitchen cabins, backpackers room, power and tent sites. 133 powered sites. It can be intensely camped at times. Sites are level, with

around the perimeter. There are open spaces for volleyball and an electric
BBQ area is a popular get-together spot. The amenities blocks function
well, with plentiful hot water and vanity areas in the ablutions. The large kitchen and laundry are well-equipped with appliances (bring own pots) Hire
a racquet and enjoy a game of tennis on the seaside courts with spectacular
views across to the white cliffs of Young Nicks Head or hire some wheels and
bike around the waterfront. Theres a kids play area, TV/games room too and
holiday entertainment may be offered in the summer. No pets please. A
dump station is provided. All sites are powered, from $18 to $25 per person.

The sealed road to Waimarama winds through rural hill country, 30 minutes drive from Havelock North. This large, flat, seaside camp has 30 caravan sites and 18 powered tent sites available, with the adjoining paddock used in peak periods. It is safe for children with one gate in and out. The golden, sandy beach is surf patrolled during the summer. From the camp it is a two minute walk to the domain and beach. The small and well-loved kitchen has gas cookers, microwave and fridge. The ablutions consist of two toilets and two coin operated showers (one with a shub/bath) each for men and women, plus a disabled access toilet. There is a small play area for toddlers. Three gas BBQs are available in an under-cover dining area. Your hosts are Karen and Ed who can be found at 15 Harper Street when the office is closed. Powered sites are $25 and un-powered $20 for adults, children (under 13) are half price and under 5s free.

Don't expect manicured lawns and clearly marked sites in this cute little camp with a difference. Lovely gardens hide a multitude of historic railway guard vans, five powered sites and the room for tents. You can cook a meal at the station kitchen which doubles as a dining room. A lovely outside dining and BBQ area, covered with climbing plants and including a swing seat, is available also. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils and the separate TV and recreation room includes comfy seating and a large TV. The ablutions area is clean, and have free showers, there is also a coin operated laundry available. A children's play area has a climbing frame and there is a large chess set on the paving stones. Your friendly hosts are David and Karen. Amberley is just 10km away for supplies, and please note there is no eftpos available. Power sites are $30 for two plus $10 each extra person, a tent site is $25 plus $10 per extra person.

A sheltered camp where pockets of bush form natural barriers between
grouped sites, offering an away-from-it-all environment that has wekas in
residence. This camp is set up with families in mind, as you enter the camp
you will see the mini golf course where you can take some shots. there
is also a great children’s playground, and parents can watch from the new
outside deck and covered BBQ area. Plenty of room for all, there are 65
sites with power, plus numerous tent sites. The bright sunny kitchen, with
stove and fridge and all other amenities, is alongside a large TV/social room
with internet access. The smart ablutions have roomy showers, a child’s bath,
and dressing space with a seat, while all laundry facilities are automatic and
plentiful. A pleasant leafy retreat, brim-full of birdlife with an aviary for the
bird fanciers and chooks to feed. Wifi is available for a small fee, there is a free

Only in use for campers in the school holidays and weekends, you’ll find level
sites and some shady trees here. There is excellent child safe play equipment
for children and use of a tennis court. The harbour estuary is easily accessible.
There are no sites with power and no hot water but stalls for solar showers.
Facilities are limited to toilets and hand basins. There is a tennis court available
for a game, payment by a donation. No smoking and no dogs please. Check
availability at Xmas. Tent sites are $10 per person, children $5 up to 15 years.
