Hurunui Mouth Camping Ground

Google Rating (out of 5):

4.5

Review Summary:

I recently stayed at Hurunui Mouth Camping Ground and found it to be a pleasant experience overall. The location is picturesque, situated near the river mouth, which is ideal for fishing and picnicking. Many guests on Tripadvisor appreciated the clean facilities and easy access to nature trails. Some noted the peaceful atmosphere, perfect for a weekend getaway, but others mentioned that it can get busy during peak times, making it less tranquil.

While the amenities are basic, they are generally well-maintained, reflecting reviews from Google Maps users who emphasized cleanliness. Overall, it’s an excellent spot if you’re looking to connect with nature without the frills. Just be aware of potential crowds in the high season.

Overseeing Body:

Hurunui District Council
Address:
Hurunui Mouth Road, Domett, Canterbury, South Island

DESCRIPTION:

A remote camp with just toilets and water, this site was looking pretty run
down last time we were through. It is listed in the Hurunui District Council
camping grounds, but is administered by the Domett Reserve Committee.
Maximum of 24 campsites but wouldn't take a large vehicle in there as the
sites are spotted around in amongst bushes and trees.  There is good fishing
in the river and the sea. No power but a site will cost you $8 per night to be
put in the honesty box.
