Ruakaka Beach Holiday Park is on the Bream Bay Coast. There are 264 sites with power and 80 sites non-powered. Choose from a wide variety of sites, some overlooking the estuary and sea. This camp has bird-conservation areas and resident ducks. There are excellent ablutions. All have token metered showers in over seven different blocks, plus disability facilities; all spotlessly clean. The automatic laundry equipment is first class. The kitchens are tidy, with limited appliances. A kitchen block has been built. recently For the active camper there is tennis, fishing plus other seaside options, and for the children, a playground. A secured boat parking area and fish cleaning bench is provided. You can walk through the camp to a 7-day grocery shop. A sewerage and dump point, plus car/boat wash facilities are provided. Please no pets here.

Take the Kellys Bay turnoff as signposted from Pouto Rd. The next 6 km is metal (slow down and take quietly).
This is home to spectacular flocks of oyster catchers, stilts, terns and other sea birds. The camp is a tidy level grassed area across the road from the waters of this quiet sheltered bay.
There are 14 power and 10 non powered sites. Facilities are minimal, water taps and clean long drop toilets only.
A two cubicle shed is provided so you can use your own solar shower.
There is good shell and boat fishing, while the children have a safe swimming beach and colourful play equipment.
Eftpos is provided (Debit card only) and the last stop for petrol is Dargaville, so make sure you have plenty to get you back. The last shop is at Te Kopuru. So please ensure you have plenty of food. Terry and Jenny are your hosts.

Look for the big bright roadside sign on the main Whangarei to Tutukaka Road. Located a stone_s throw from Whangarei Falls and close to local orchards, this camp is laid out in treed bays around the services. Centrally placed is a good size round swimming pool, a gazebo style spa pool, shower blocks, separate toilet blocks, a kitchen and laundry. The kitchen has all cooking facilities including utensils. A help-yourself herb garden is a bonus. The showers are clean, with plentiful hot water. Automatic machines, (plus a hairdryer, mirror, and ironing board) are in the laundry. A large alfresco dining area is most appealing. The lounge is divided, one area to spend a quiet time with the Internet or reading a selection of books from the extensive library and the other has an adjacent attractive TV lounge with big comfy chairs. This is a small but well sheltered camp with some private sites. The housekeeping is excellent. Ask about diving at the Poor Knights or take in some of the good walks in the area. Close by are Whangarei Falls and the Canopy circle where you can see some mighty kauri trees. Your friendly hosts are Graham and Alison. All sites are from $18 per person, $9 for children.

Turn the corner into Pahi Road to find the entrance. Paparoa is a small community with shopping and services. The camp offers 20 power sites with taps. The lawn is level and easy for tenters. A very smart new laundry has a comfy couch to relax while the washing finishes. The amenities include a good disability suite and roomy but limited ablutions, (the showers are free). A multi-purpose room has a basic kitchen with a full stove and microwave. Outside is a covered dining area, this is adjacent. to the kitchen. Internet is available, and a dump station and car wash. Eftpos with credit card facilities are now available. Your friendly hosts are Ken and Betty Cairns. Sites $15 per person per night. Free wifi available.

Pahi Beach Holiday Park is situated on the tranquil shores of one of the most picturesque arms of the Kaipara Harbour.
The Holiday Park sits at the waters edge giving easy access to New Zealand’s Largest harbour. An ideal spot to launch your
boat at the all tide ramp, fish from the wharf, explore or walk the shores. You can holiday at our park with your campervan, caravan or tent on our level powered or non-powered sites,or maybe stay in our on-site cabin. Just 1.5 – 2 hours drive from Auckland on SH1, turning left at Brynderwyns onto SH12 heading towards Matakohe and the Kauri Coast. Take the first left past the Paparoa village and you will find us at the end of Pahi Road.

Here is a special little camp with welcoming, helpful hosts. Set in 20 acres of land, the _business area_ occupies an elevated platform overlooking the Kaipara harbour on both sides. A track leads you down to the beach. The sites are gently terraced with each level offering private nooks surrounded by trees, and each has its own picnic table. There are 30 neat sites (some with individual lights). First class amenities are set in a colonial style building. The kitchen/lounge and dining area are lavishly equipped and stylish with a comfortable TV area. Free gas BBQ_s are available. An on-site store provides basics. Wireless and broadband internet are available. You can enjoy a game of Petanque, while, for the children, there is an adventure play area. A very comfortable stay while you enjoy water views over the Kaipara. Visit the Matakohe Kauri Museum at the entrance and dine at the hotel next door. Your hosts are Vanessa and Francis. From S Hwy 12 turn onto Matakohe West Road. An easy 20 minute drive takes you through undulating countryside to this restful camp beside the community hall. A circular garden greets you at the entrance. The grounds are flat with lush grass and a few shade trees, plus 3 gas bbqs for campers and picnic tables. Most sites have sea views and some are absolute waterfront. 24 power sites and heaps of room for tents. The facilities are modest but clean and decorated with colourful artwork. A small kitchen has fridge/freezer, microwaves, jug and toasters, and outside is a pick a herb garden. Adjacent to the kitchen is a fenced and roofed gas BBQ area with tables. The water laps just a few metres from the 2 x 50 cent hot showers. A tin garden shed houses the basic laundry with a washing machine and tubs. The swimming is good and you can fish off the nearby wharf. A lovely _off the beaten track_ spot for relaxing and there is a store down the road that provides your basic needs. Sites $12 per adult and $5 children, under 4yrs free.

DESCRIPTION:
Only 12 sites but they are large and level and a little different. Each site has
a light (your own switch), a clothes line, tap, waste water drain and rubbish tin,
along with its own concrete path. A sheltered, tidal estuary is just through
the fence and over the dunes to a surf beach. Top marks for housekeeping.
Facilities open off a roofed deck. The kitchen has a full stove and hotplates,
fridge/freezer and a chest freezer. Take your meal outside to the picnic tables.
The ablutions are well-lined with 2 good metered shower cubicles for each
sex and a lavish hot water supply. There is a nice amenities block with laundry,
hot and cold washing machines and dryer. You will find free dinghies and two
free BBQ’s for campers. In a separate area, a car or boat wash and dump
point are available. A decent sized games room is provided. An attractive
country setting with plenty of well-groomed sites. No dogs here please. Your
hosts are Paul and Sharleen Voss. All sites are $38 to $ 43 for two people.
