On the north side of Kaipoi is this complex on the edge of State Highway 1. There are
quite a few permanents here, with the odd spot for casual campers in between.
Plenty of upgrades planned, but at the moment the amenities offer a kitchen
with full stove and an outside covered dining area. The ablutions and laundry
are plentiful and clean and there is a purpose built TV lounge and games room.
The adjacent licensed restaurant serves takeaway meals and a dump point is
available. Credit cards and eftpos are accepted, enquire for prices.

Situated above the mouth of the Waimakariri River, with a walkway from the camp to the river, this beautifully manicured park is a great spot. There is a village of well-settled caravans, immaculately presented with attractive mini-gardens. A large area has been set apart for casual campers, with views out to the hills and river. Hedged with pittisporums, and with water on each site, they are a great place to park. A bright, cheerful stainless steel kitchen and ablutions block is in this area, as well as an older one further down, all spotless and well kept, and all have been recently upgraded. The laundry has good auto equipment and your hosts are Bronwyn and Alan Waters.

A tent site will cost you $15 per person or with power $18. Unpowered sites are available at a discount for NZMCA members.

A large complex set of five hectares of grounds, mainly catering for large
groups. Not many sites available, and a few permanents, but what is there
is well maintained in a park-like environment. The camping area has a tiny
field kitchen, disabled facilities, and toilets, also a swimming pool, confidence course and dump facilities are available. You are not able to book ahead in this campground, and availability is dependent on what groups are on site at the time. Pauline and her team are available to help with your enquiries.

This is a large country camp with plentiful facilities, including those for disabled people. There are a lot of permanents in this park, but it is done very well. An immaculate kitchen has a microwave, rangettes and fridge/freezer. The laundry includes a children’s bath and use of an iron. The ablution blocks are very spacious with lots of good showers. A smaller kitchen and a laundry have been added to help in the busy season. A separate TV/dining room has double doors opening to the garden, where there is a children’s play area. Much hard work has been put into landscaping the grounds, which are colourful and well kept. Play golf on the 10-hole par 3 golf course, and eftpos is available. Please and make sure you book in advance as there are limited sites.

Tasman Holiday Parks - Christchurch is a premier holiday park offering you entertainment in the indoor heated swimming pool with a curling slide into the water and toddlers pool. They also have a private spa available for use. Enjoy the jumping pillow, playground and games room which has pool table and table tennis. Hire pedal cars or bikes by the hour and keep the kids amused. There is a game called a Neos 360, the world's first electronic play system for the playground combining the speed and fun of video games with the explosive movement of aerobic exercise. There are communal facilities with showers, toilets, kitchen, dining room and laundries available for guests to use, as well as BBQ areas to meet fellow travelers. With the airport just down the road, and close to the city, this park offers various campsites for both vans and tents. Surrounded by large trees, sites are on both grass and gravel, and has an attractive tenting area with a mini kitchen. A large children_s playground, swimming pool and sauna are provided, and there are pedal bikes available for hire. The modern kitchen has all appliances and an outdoor under-cover dining area, there are two amenity blocks, all well presented. An on-site shop, restaurant, and a car storage facility are provided, and a courtesy van is available to take you to the airport within office hours. Wireless internet access and pets are welcome by arrangement. Your hosts are Julie, Steve, and Don. All sites from $40 for two adults.

About 2km south of Hornby, and close to Templeton shops, is this camp on the edge of SH1, with a number of long-termers and home-base buses, although there is still the odd spot for the holidaymaker. Amenities include a TV room,
three kitchens, an ablution block (with disabled facilities) and a laundry. A gas BBQ is available, and there are powered sites near the office for late arrivals. A nearby garage has takeaway food or you can eat at the hotel, and there is a
dump station. Your hosts are Bob and Carol Christie.

Drive in through the leafy entranceway to this camp, where many level grassed areas are broken by stands of trees. A central amenities building houses a useful kitchen, ablutions that are well kept and there is a laundry with automatic equipment. A swimming hole has been created in the river and there is a good playground for children. Nearby are tennis courts, a shop, hotel and cafe, and there is a golf course right next door (golf clubs may be hired at the camp). The nearest ski field is only a half hour drive away or go on the local historical walk. Rakaia and Waimakariri River gorges are each about 20 minutes drive for salmon and trout fishing. Your friendly hosts are Noel and Robyn Langridge, and all sites are $38 for two.

Set on a 15,000-hectare sheep farm in the Southern Alps, this picturesque farmstay is 10 km from the hiking trails at the Cave Stream Scenic Reserve and 12 km from the Broken River ski area.
