This self-registration campsite is located near the Clutha River, a few kilometres from Wanaka. It is popular with summer holidaymakers and strategically placed for day trips to Mount Aspiring National Park (via Matukituki Valley or Makarora) and the Queenstown/Arrowtown region. Toilets, taps, rubbish bins and picnic tables are provided. This camp does not have an onsite reception. No bookings are taken for this site, its first come first serve, you just pick your spot and pay on arrival via the eftpos machines at each entrance. There is plenty of space, but a spot is not guaranteed. There are no powered sites. No kitchen or showers. No wifi is available.

Drive over the Waitohi Stream and up the drive to the open grassed area with a railway viaduct above. Children can paddle in the stream, bounce on the trampoline or use the play area provided. The two kitchen and dining areas have full stoves, microwaves and fridges, and two laundries have automatic machines and irons. There are plentiful ablutions with disability facilities and the carpeted TV lounge has a library, pool table and computer area. This camp is close to shops, has a dump station, car wash and fish cleaning facilities available and is pet friendly. Your hosts are Anthony and Denise. At the end of the road, 2km from Hanmer Village, is this extensive park with spacious sites and lovely mountain views. Well-serviced with sealed roads and over 60 campsites, there are also large trees for shade. The clean kitchen has all appliances with a dining area next door, as well as BBQ tables outside under shade sails. The ablutions are excellent and have a disability unit, there is also a drying room opening off the laundry. The separate games room has
table tennis, pool and air hockey as well as arcade games, and you won't find a better children's playground - it comes complete with an initiative course! For those who want to relax, there is a comfy TV lounge with an internet station,
a petanque pit, or cool off in the swimming pool. There are bikes available for hire, both children and adult sizes available. Wireless internet and a dump station are here for campers.

Paradise found is the slogan for this camp, and how right they are. What a beautifully situated camp this one is, within the foothills of the Mt Thomas Forest Conservation Area, this four star Qualmark park is amongst 12 acres of native bush and has the Ashley Gorge River within its bounds. The campground is part of the Ashley Gorge recreation area and is close to many popular walking tracks and good fishing in the river. Amongst the tent and power sites are many shady trees, lots of room and very peaceful. There is a dedicated pet camping area, none are allowed in the rest of the campground though. A clean, tidy kitchen and dining area has hobs, microwaves and fridge/freezer. Ablutions have excellent showers with funky coloured doors and vanities, and there is an automatic laundry. The standard of cleanliness in this camp is very high. The kids will enjoy the playgrounds and are welcome to bring their bikes, there are also blow up tubes for hire to go down the river on. A great place for larger groups with exclusive use of some facilities available, and one of the added attractions is the late checkout in the off season. Eftpos is available as is wifi, and a good camp shop.

What a beautiful setting this camping ground is in. A well cared for, tree
sheltered camp with numerous tent sites and 10 power points. You can enjoy
peace and quiet in a relaxed atmosphere. A round of golf maybe, or a walk
to the top of the hill to take in the views, perhaps you would like to try your
hand at fishing in the nearby rivers. A swimming pool with a deck, seating and
a BBQ is provided for your enjoyment. The roomy fully equipped kitchen/
dining area has been upgraded and there are plenty of tables and chairs, as well
as provision for outside dining. The laundry has new coin operated washers
and dryers, and the ablutions are very clean, with towels available for campers.
Pets are welcome by arrangement. Per night prices are, power sites are $35 for two, $25 for one. Non powered are $30 for two and $20 for one. Extra Adults are $10 each and Children are $5 each per night.

An attractive, cobbled park entrance leads to a modern office and spacious,
level grounds enhanced with large trees. With 270 power sites and almost as
many for tents, they are never full. There is a central service building which
includes a kitchen/dining/community room that is well supplied with appliances,
and an outside covered dining option is available. There is a well presented,
modern TV room and lounge with a dining option. A light and airy ablution
block is clean and modern, there are also unisex units and extra toilets around
the grounds. A second facilities block has been added with two family or
disability bathrooms that have under floor heating and a spa. In the laundry
there is a generous supply of automatic equipment and a waiting room with
TV. An outside attraction is a BBQ/dining complex with a sink. Children have
an adventure playground with a jumping pillow, and there is a dump point and
car wash. With a free wifi spot at the gate, and a card phone and an internet
kiosk with free wifi are available, you are all set for your electronic needs.
This is the heart of stone fruit country with a market garden across the road,

Midway between Rotorua and Taupo, on the busy SH 5, is this once proud camping ground. Unfortunately, it was looking a bit run down when we visited, it is to be hoped that the new owners do a bit of garden maintenance to get it back up to scratch. But if you don't want manicured lawns, this is an excellent base for the great trout fishing nearby. There are 21 power sites divided by boxed hedges, and a variety of tent sites - some down by the stream that
runs beside the camp. Bush tracks with boardwalks meander through the lower part of the camp giving an nice setting to the natural thermal hot pools provided free for people staying. There is a small kitchen with fridge and ovens,
and a TV room is available. The licensed restaurant is not open currently, but hoping to be back up and running soon. Laundry machines are available as is, a free gas BBQ.

The journey is around 50km of unsealed road, but worth it if you want a large lakefront camp with a boat ramp, fishing and boating. Owned by a cooperative of enthusiastic campers, this is not luxury camping so you need to be reasonably independent. Flush toilets are available but no showers, and there is a dump point here. Tent sites $20 per family, or a season ticket at $350 per annum.

Nestled into native bush, with brand new modern facilities providing free showers, with wheelchair access, a large spacious kitchen with gas hobs, ovens, fridges, microwaves, toasters and hot water on tap. There is a coin operated laundry with dryers and washing machines. A TV room with Freeview, and internet kiosk with wireless is available for a small fee. The ablution and kitchen areas are adjoined to a spacious inner courtyard. Here a large screen TV offers Sky, Sport, a Cartoon Network, UKTV and a variety of other channels for your enjoyment. The park is being added to almost continuously, 6 showers have been added this summer. You can fish, kayak, swim, surf, dive, set off on a day trip to Cathedral Cove and back, maybe dig your own hot pool, or enjoy the local cafes. Your hosts are Sheree and Grant. Well worth a trip to explore the wild southern coast! This camp is at the roadend, on the shores of Lake Onoke (Lake Ferry), a 1 hour drive from Wellington or a 20 minute drive from Martinborough. Popular for fishing, surfing, boating and access to the nearby Pinnacles, bird watchers are drawn to the nearby Onoke Spit just a pleasant walk from the camp. There is a boat launching area and a playground for children both at the camp and in the domain next door. Stunning views, plenty of trees and lake shore campsites make for an enjoyable stay. The amenities are large with a laundry, excellent showers and clean toilets. The kitchen has all the facilities , with an adjacent room for doing the dishes. A covered deck with picnic tables is off the kitchen.

scattered amongst large established shade trees. There are 100 sites with
power and plenty of tent site, this camp is a great place to view the sunset with
the light shining on the mountains over the lake, which offers a stunning natural
show. The office carries basic supplies and information on all the activities in the area, and there is a big fire place to socialise around. wo basic but clean kitchens with all amenities, one with a TV, also internet access, and free DVD
hire. Two basic, clean ablution blocks and a disability unit, recently painted and
modernised. The shower and toilet block is tidy, and showers are included in
the price. The laundry has automatic equipment and linen to hire, and there is a boat ramp. You can use the camp fishing rods, fish cleaning facilities, plus a fish smoker is provided for your catch. Plenty of activities for children, with a
playground that includes a couple of old tractors, and safe swimming in the lake.
Dogs can stay off-peak (end of January to December 20) and there is 30 mins
free wifi for guests, or you can purchase a 24 hour card. Your hosts are the

A well-concealed entrance leads to a dual purpose sports ground with provision
for camping around the edge of the field. There are 12 power sites tucked away
all over the place, it gets pretty full in summer. The showers have great pressure
of which there are five. Toilets are round the back
of the main block, there is no kitchen or lounge but an outside sink is provided.
Seating and a couple of fridges are underneath the verandah. The camp is
adjacent to a river with two good swimming holes or you can picnic or BBQ.
From his spot under the veranda, John is your on-site custodian. Unpowered
sites are $10 per person, powered sites $10 per person, kids year 9 down are free. The dump station is $2.

Next to the local A&P Showgrounds, this well maintained camping ground is laid out on open grounds with many large shade trees. Plenty of level sites with a choice of grass or gravel. In the amenities pavilion is a large, well-presented, functional kitchen with full stoves, next door is a TV and dining room with a cosy log fire. In addition there is a very large games room where you can play on one of the arcade games, have a game of pool or table tennis, even table hockey. Comfy sofas to sit on and several more dining tables in here too, or go outside for a game of lawn tennis. Internet is available, the tidy ablutions have metered showers, and the laundry has automatic equipment. A variety of shops are in the village within walking distance, you might want to have a go at hot air ballooning or take a trip to the snow at Mt. Hutt ski field, all of which you can do from here. This local Memorial Park looks out over pleasant grounds, but has a lot of
permanent occupants so bookings are essential. There is a small area for
campers with just 18 powered sites on metal/sealed paving. The kitchen is
basic, but has everything you need, the ablutions are clean and tidy and have
individual LPG water heating. There is a free laundry with automatic washer,
dryer and a freezer, and showers are free too. The council swimming pool is in the park next door, and your on-site host is Tom Bell.

there are rolling hills behind and park like settings in front. With 50 powered sites and numerous tent sites, there is plenty of space. and good trout fishing

Here is a lovely environment for the comfort of campers with grounds that have smooth lawns and a myriad of mature trees. There are 180 sites, most with power, and an amenity block gives the camp some great facilities, all in spotlessorder. The kitchen with all facilities opens to a covered BBQ area with seating where you can watch the children on the jumping pillow. There is a TV lounge with internet and excellent tiled ablutions plus an automatic laundry. A spa pool is available and a heated swimming pool and sun lounging area is close to the adventure playground. A dump point is provided and storage is available for vehicles and luggage. This camp is close to the shopping and services of Motueka. Pets are welcome by arrangement excluding December, January and early February. Your host is John Taite.

What a wonderful family holiday park this one is. With campsites hidden in the larches, there are 48 powered sites and innumerable tent sites. The renovated kitchen/living room has double glazing, a cosy log burner for the winter months, and all the amenities needed. During busy times, a secondary kitchen is also available. Laundry and drying facilities and the roomy ablutions are bright and clean. Make sure you bring your bikes, as there are extensive mountain bike trails all around the camp, as well as an adventure playground and a swimming dam, in the summer months, within metres of the edge of the park. The historic gold-mining town of Naseby has many attractions such as year round curling, and great pubs and a cafe, and It is also not far to the Central Otago Rail Trail. The camp is open all year round, dogs are welcome, but please arrange this when you book. Book online at their website (see above).

This attractive campground is set in an old gold mining area full of exploration opportunities. The Nelson Creek village includes a store, hotel and pottery shop on a terrace immediately above the camping and recreation area. The campground is next to the creek, where you can go gold panning and has numerous sheltered campsites. You will find clean toilets, children's play equipment, including a flying fox, BBQs, picnic tables, running water and a swimming hole. A track leads through a tunnel and over a swing bridge to a number of interesting short bush walks. Worth seeing as it has been intensively mined with tunnels, tailraces and hand-stacked tailings. A wheelchair accessible track is easily reached by road and a gold-panning area is signposted.
The hotel over the road has showers available.

South-west of New Plymouth, turn towards the coast off SHwy 45 onto Wairau Road and follow the camp signs for 13 kms. This is true beachfront camping at Taranaki's most popular swimming, surfing and windsurfing beach. Breathtaking views with just about every site looking out to sea. The camp is in two parts, with sites in the lower camp spread across two levels, some with stunning views of the Tasman Sea and others in a sheltered valley. The upper part is on a quiet terraced area above the main camp and is surrounded by bush and native birds. The amenities are good, although usage can be high at peak times. A well-equipped, sparkling kitchen has plenty of bench space and modern appliances. A great alternative is the BBQ. There are roomy showers and all the bathroom extras. Automatic machines can be found in the laundry and a dump station is provided. Although there are 117 sites with power plus 60 for tents, pre-booking for summer is advised. The office is located over the road from the camp and there are a selection of books, games and tennis rackets available also. Your hosts are Al and Jan. Okiwi Bay Holiday Park and Lodge is not right on the beach, but there is a boat ramp about 400 metres away. The grounds are neat and landscaped with 12 level sites, all have power and water and lovely sheltered trees. A shop is available with a good range of everyday supplies, and you can get your dive bottles filled, petrol or diesel and fill LPG bottles here. An immaculate kitchen has two full gas stoves and all other amenities, plus a BBQ, as well as a covered dining area outside. The ablutions are well designed, light and airy, with hand basins in the free shower and toilet cubicles plus a disability suite. Automatic machines are provided in the laundry, a phone is on-site and free wifi is available. So many things to do such as fishing, diving and scalloping, charter a boat, or take a guided trip. Kayaks and mountain bikes can be hired locally, there is a dump station and fish filleting bay provided. This is a pet friendly camp and your friendly hosts are Pam and Ian Montgomery. Both powered and unpowered sites are $20 per day for an adult, children 12 years and under $12.50, two years and under are free. Tent RCD cords are available for hire at $6 per day.

Just off the main highway you will find this oldie but a goodie. With a dairy
at the front entrance, and a takeaway food outlet alongside, you won’t have
to worry about running out of anything. Mostly return families, there are 50
sites with power and 15 for tents. The grassed camping ground is dotted with
trees and is situated to the rear of a large historic lodge. The amenities consist
of a small kitchen, old but with all the appliances you will need, ablutions and
a laundry with automatic machines. Campers can use the lodge facilities and share the communal lounge with its open file. The swimming pool is totally enclosed for all-weather use and a dump station is on site. Your hosts are Brent

This spacious and well-kept camp is very close to the local amenities on the eastern edge of town. To find it, turn off State Highway 3 either at the supermarket if coming from the south, or just before the railway crossing if coming from the north. The camps modern facilities include: two sparkling, fully-equipped kitchens; unisex individual combined shower and toilet suites plus additional toilets (the amenities block is wheelchair-friendly), and an automatic laundry and dump station. BBQ tables are scattered about the camp and beside the kitchen which has an impressive covered dining area. There is a TV room with internet kiosk. Wifi is available. Your friendly hosts are Billie and Kelvin. Family and seasonal rates apply.
