DESCRIPTION:
Take a sharp hairpin to your left on to West Coast Road as you leave the
Rawene Ferry, or turn right at the ferry for those travelling from the north.
5km south of Kohukohu and 1. 7km west of the ferry landing, the Tree House
Eco Lodge is along the Motukaraka (West Coast) Road and is well signposted.
A pleasant, shady spot for backpackers and travellers who appreciate a quiet,
uncrowded camping area that is brimming with bird-life. Campers with
cars must leave them in the carpark provided. Small motorhomes can be
accommodated although only one power point is available. The smoke-free
communal area with kitchen is delightful, although it is not suitable for very
young children. Stimulate your appetite with the 20-minute bushwalk. Your
hosts are Phil and Pauline Evans. Camping is $20 per person. $13 without use of kitchen, $20 includes use of the kitchen.

Enjoy the stunning views of Russell township, the Bay, and over to Paihia. This park is located on the hill above the waterfront, with an easy walk to shops, restaurants, heritage buildings and trails. Sites are level on three
terraces, with the higher sites having great views. All amenities are on the middle terrace. A disability access bathroom is available on request. Overlooking the water, is a well appointed kitchen, with adjoining dining, and TV annexe. Wifi is also available. There are good cobbled driveways throughout forming a one-way system to a separate exit and a central play area and equipment for children. Boat engine flush and fish cleaning facilities are available. The many activities in this area include fishing, sailing, kayaking, cycling, Bay of Islands cruises, bushwalking, and heritage trails. There are over 160 roomy sites (56 with power) and a few shady trees. The amenities offer two kitchens, with microwaves and fridge/freezers. The laundry has automatic coin operated washers and dryer. The ablutions have well-lined, clean showers. There is a dump station provided. Internet access available. Some areas reserved for campers who have quietness as a priority. All sites are $16 to $25 per person (including hot showers) in peak season. Pet friendly by prior arrangement. A short walk from the park takes you to a supermarket.

Turn down Whalers Rd (where the 90 Mile Beach sign is shown at State
Highway 1) then on to Hukatere Rd and travel 10 km down the road through
the forestry (there are 700 wild horses in this forest). This camp is set among
the sand dunes with plenty of space for tents and a short walk to the beach.
There are flush toilets and unisex solar showers plus private showers and an
outdoor hot bath. The new kitchen has gas stoves and power points. Payment
by donation. (koha) Aprox 8 kms of bone shaking, dusty gravel road, but worth
the trip.

Very well sign posted off State Hwy 10. This camp is nestled between some sheltering hills but has easy, level, shady or sunny sites. A lovely bay is immediately opposite the camp. Only a short drive to get supplies. The central amenities block has a well-kept new kitchen, with microwave, hotplate cooking, fridge and a TV. Nestled into a ferned rockery are picnic tables in a canopied BBQ garden. The ablutions were built for comfort, but have meters to conserve water. There are both single-sex appointments and a familysize wheelchair-friendly suite. The laundry has automatic washing machines and dryers, with freezer space too. During the peak season, each evening, takeaway meals are available only 5 minutes away. Get dive air fills here. Adump point is provided. Tours and charter boats can be arranged from here. Concessions for weekly rates from May - October (does not include public holidays.)

Bay of Islands Holiday Apartments & Campervan Park, is a delightful small boutique park has 28 campervan sites (17 powered and 11 unpowered). It comes complete with new ablution block which is very spacious and clean and laundry with washing machine and dryer The showers are $2 metered.. It is 250 meters from the beach, three minutes to Haruru Falls, close to the supermarket, two kilometers to the golf course and 1 kilometer to Paihia Village. What more could you wish for, except that there is a great BBQ shelter free for you to use overlooking a natural pond. Seasonal rates apply. Free unlimited Wi-Fi available. 4km north of Opononi turn off SHwy12 onto Koutu Loop Road. The camping
and picnic area is 3km from the highway. This is no frills camping on a grassy
plateau, surrounded on 3 sides by the Hokianga Harbour, with superb views.
You will need to be fully self-contained as the only facilities are some picnic
tables. There is no water, or power but there is a long drop toilet. There is
a boat ramp nearby. Camping costs $10 per night per van and can be put in
the honesty system at the small shed at the entrance. Big area of sites. Sid
and Donna live at 825 Koutu Loop Rd which is the first house on the road
from the main road.
