On neat level grounds34km south of Dunedin, this park is almost at the edge of the calm waters of Lake Waihola. Good swimming and water skiing are attractions. Bordered by trees, it has 76 power sites. Both kitchens have TV_s and dining space, and all cooking appliances are provided. The two well kept amenities blocks, have showers with their own hot water unit. The laundry is well equipped with auto machines. Launch your boat from the ramp or jetty, swim or water ski. There are many walks and activities in this area. Your friendly host is Mary-jo Tent sites here are $13 (per night), for powered sites it cost $16.50 for an adult. It is $8 for children under 12 and $4 for children under 4 per night.

Follow the Rainforest Route (SH38) from Rotorua or Wairoa to Waikaremoana Holiday Park, situated in a beautiful and tranquil bay on the shores of Lake Waikaremoana, the spiritual home of Nai Tuhoe. Great place to base yourself to explore all Te Urewera and Waikaremoana has to offer from short walks, waterfalls, stunning views, bird watching, trout fishing, swimming, kayaking, boating or just relax and soak up the scenery. Camp lakeside with views across the lake to the lush backdrop of native bush There is a well stocked General Store on site with snacks, groceries, petrol & diesel, fishing licences, fishing gear, visitor information and more. Off SHwy 3, this hidden gem is just 4 km south of Wanganui beside pretty
Lake Wiritoa. The groomed grounds are huge (5 hectares) and you can camp
either in the bays beside the roadside macracarpa hedge or at the other end
(up past the caretaker’s house) on the tree-shaded lakefront. 28 powered
sites and unlimited tenting space make for a relaxed camping experience.
There are several blocks of well-appointed, spotlessly clean amenities around
the grounds. The water is from an Artisian well. Kayaks and canoes are
available for hire for campers or try the confdence course, fshing or hiking.
There is a dump site. No animals please. Your friendly hosts are Darryl and

Located on a 120 acre property at Tikitere,15 km from central Rotorua, this
camp includse an extensive range of activities such as heated and cold pools,
a lake amongst surrounding farmland, bush walks, glow worms, kayaking, tennis
and horse riding by arrangement. More exciting activities such as archery, slug
guns, and a climbing wall, but the camping facilities are minimal with the kitchen,
showers, and toilets all situated some distance from the actual camping area.
There is however disabled facilities, plentiful water and dump station, as well
as plenty of shady trees around the 16 powered sites camping sites, and many
tent sites. A Christian youth camp that caters mainly to groups, weekends are
best for short term stays. Powered from $20 for two adults, non-powered for
$15 for two adults.

Manicured lawns and tidy hedges, landscaped gardens and organic veges, caf_ dining and home-made baking. All this and more at this lovely motel and camping ground complex. Clean and tidy kitchen/dining with all amenities, including full stoves with pots and pans, the TV lounge is adjacent. Ablutions are clean and tidy and there are three laundries. At the entrance to the camp is a popular restaurant for delicious meals, excellent coffee, and a large deck with BBQ area where you can book in for the camp. Inside, the new relaxation area with pool table, flat screen TV, computer stations, juke box, and pull down movie screen has lots of comfy couches scattered around. From this base you can hike the Hump Ridge Track, or check your emails on the free wifi. Around 1.5 hours drive west of Napier, is a pleasant basic campsite surrounded
by pine trees. Facilities include toilets, BBQ area and cooking shelter, with
water supply from the stream. Please note: logging trucks use the road, so
drive slowly and keep left.

There are showers, toilets and a kitchen available. You can use the lounge in
the Lodge. Enjoy a BBQ on a lazy summer evening. Unpowered sites are $12

With bush walks at your back door and the city minutes away this compact
park has 46 neat, level sites with taps. The kitchen is well equipped and the
dining hall has a comfortable communal tables and chairs. Off this room is a TV
annexe and down the hall are the toilets and showers which include a disability
suite. The laundry has plenty of automatic machines and there is a dump point
and well equipped children’s playground. You can leave your van tethered
and use the weekday bus service to the city. Surrounded by tall trees and a
gentle stream around two sides, there is the added attraction of glow worms!

a minimum charge of $24.

This smart urban camp has spacious grounds that are well laid out in a circular fashion and bordered by sheltering hedges. Boasting large trees in the park, there are 33 powered sites and at least 50 spaces for tents. The communal kitchen/dining room is large and modern and there is a bookcase in the TV and games room. The ablutions are spotless and well maintained and have individual family/disabled access shower units, plus communal washrooms. A brand new children’s playground is centrally located and picnic tables are available along with other extras such as a dog-friendly zone, coin internet kiosks and wireless hotspot. This lovely spot is definitely a secret waiting to be discovered. Clean modern facilities consisting of toilets, a communal shelter and a children's playground, and parking on hard stands. Take a stroll around the gardens and the lake, which was once a lignite pit, walk over the bridges, enjoy the birdlife and plantings, or take a guided tour. Have a coffee or a meal at the cafe (closed Mon and Tues) and read all about the history of the area, or visit the covered garden. Your friendly hosts are Maree, Barry, Eunice and Charlie. Unpowered is $10 per person, powered is $15 per person - this includes the $2 charge to take the scenic walk and a dump station too. This camp may be closed from beginning June to September. Just off the motorway, turn off at the Lindale exit north of Paraparaumu. Lindale Farm Park tourist complex is right next door and the popular Southwards Car Museum just 5 minutes away. 45 fully-serviced lawn sites have shrub surrounds for privacy and the smart amenities. The well equipped kitchen has a phone and there is an appealing and comfortable TV room. There is a disabled access suite in the ablutions, fully automatic laundry equipment and a dump station. Enjoy a great feed of whitebait at this traditional West Coast pub. Camping is on level ground with 10 power and numerous tent sites, all on grass and with established plantings for shelter. The toilets and showers are all part of the hotel complex, and are clean and tidy. There is no kitchen but you may be able to borrow the BBQ, the washing machine is free and so is the wifi. A children_s playground and great swimming holes are available to entertain, good fishing, both sea and river. Your hosts Wayne and Andrea supply a pickup service to and from the Wangapeka track, and they sometimes allow people who aren't camping to use the showers for a small charge of $5. Tent sites are $15 for two or, with power $20 for two, children under 14 years are free. Long term rates are available and this is a pet friendly camp.

Follow the signs to Long Bay from the main T-intersection in the middle of
Coromandel township. Discover why this spot is such a great place for fishing!
The camp has two distinct waterfront areas, Long Bay and Tucks Bay. Tucks
Bay has long-drop toilets and no power, but is quietly appealing. The Long
Bay site has bright, clean amenities. The roomy metered showers are tiled
and there appears to be ample modern toilet facilities. The compact kitchen
has two stoves, microwave and TV. A gas BBQ in a roofed shelter offers
a pleasant dining alternative. An automatic laundry and dump station are
provided. Ideally suited for the boatie, fish-cleaning and smoking facilities are
on hand. At the camp entrance, the on-site shop has basic supplies including
expresso coffee, ice creams, bait and ice and a public phone. The camp has
100 sites, 50 with power and most with spectacular views across the bay. Your
hosts, Leanne and Des, can rent you a kayak or paddleboard. Wifi is available

Lorneville Holiday Park is a lovely space in the country. We have many powered sites, cabins & camp facilities. Only 10mins to the city. Long term too.

A well-concealed entrance leads to a dual purpose sports ground with provision
for camping around the edge of the field. There are 12 power sites tucked away
all over the place, it gets pretty full in summer. The showers have great pressure
of which there are five. Toilets are round the back
of the main block, there is no kitchen or lounge but an outside sink is provided.
Seating and a couple of fridges are underneath the verandah. The camp is
adjacent to a river with two good swimming holes or you can picnic or BBQ.
From his spot under the veranda, John is your on-site custodian. Unpowered
sites are $10 per person, powered sites $10 per person, kids year 9 down are free. The dump station is $2.

A pleasant little site on the outskirts of Lumsden, with pine shelter belts on two sides and large trees for shade. This well-groomed rural setting boasts 24 power sites, all with a tap and plenty of room for tents. The BBQ is within a sheltered area and while the amenities are homely, they have everything you need. A kitchen/dining with all appliances and cooking and eating utensils, basic but clean ablutions, free hot showers, and a laundry with auto wash and dryer. Just taken over by a new owner, the camp Is in the process of being upgraded, and is sleep in friendly - no pushing people out at 10 in this camp. Just down the road hotel meals are available, petrol and shopping are close by as well. A great fishing area and a peaceful stopover on the way from Te Anau or Queenstown. This is an extremely pet friendly park, there are alpacas on site that can be fed, and a paddock is available if you need somewhere to put your horse. Your very friendly hosts are Trudy and Andy . Sites are $20 per adult and $5 per child and $5 for power.

The site of the historic gold-rush town of Lyell, this large, grassed campsite is easily accessible. Explore the gold workings at settlements of Gibbstown (2 hr return), Zalatown and 8 Mile, plus the Alpine Battery site.

Mahurangi West
Driving North on State Highway 1, 6km past Wenderholm Regional Park,
turnright into Mahurangi West Rd then right into Ngarewa Drive and follow
tothe end of the road. There is another 8km to travel, the last 2 of which are
unsealed. There are two remote camping sites within the park. Te Muri Beach
and Mita Bay, both of which have no power and no vehicle access. Adults
$6 and children $4. For camping with vehicle access, there is Sullivan’s Bay,
adjacent to a delightful beach with grassy banks and pohutukawa trees for
shade. Adults $13 and children $6 The park also has toilets (some with
wheelchair access).

Mahurangi East
Access to Mahurangi East is by boat or kayak only. There is a small remote
camp site in a natural setting, handy to two beaches. Amenities include
long droptoilet and drinking water. It is only a short distance by water from
Mahurangi West or Salt Point. $6 per adult and $4 per child. There is a
designated area for self-contained campervans at Mahurangi West. Annual
passes are available for non-peak period camping. Dogs are not permitted at
Mahurangi East or West. There are no rubbish bins provided so be prepared
to take all rubbish when you leave

On the inland route from Haast is this cafe with a campervan park at the rear. With hedges all around there are ten powered sites on hard stands, four of which are extra-large for oversize vans or caravans. The small basic kitchen has the bare necessities, but enough to get by with, a small seating area, and BBQ area. The modern unisex ablution suites are disability friendly and all facilities were clean and tidy.  In the laundry is a washer and dryer, and a public phone is available. In addition to the cafe you can buy a drink at the bar, refuel, fish, tramp or take a helicopter flight.  Credit card and eftpos available.

This charming little camp at Maketu is on absolute beachfront. The sheltered waters provide a wonderful beach playground for children, with rock pools and endless sand. Flat, grassy sites are spread across several seaside terraces connected by flights of steps and all with amazing sea views. The prime, lower-beachfront campervan sites are really quite something! The log-style ablutions are modern with free showers. The smart little kitchen has a TV, the usual appliances, and a covered porch BBQ/dining area with awesome views. The laundry has automatic machines. A licensed seaside cafe/restaurant at the park entrance is a pleasant place to spend some time, and you can get basic food items and takeaway meals here too. Your host is Shane Beech. Camping costs $30 for two people.

2 km from Maketu and three local beaches, set on an elevated site, this camp
enjoys delightful landscaped gardens with rural views and many homely touches.
Check in at the modern office which carries a few basic supplies. The kids
have a great playground, a large solar heated swimming pool, plus a friendly
pony, birds, turtles etc. The amenities are excellent and include a smart, partly
covered pool next to the kitchen. Here there are modern appliances and a
dining space. The ablutions have free showers, disabled access/family suite and
plenty of bathroom extras. An automatic laundry and dump point are here
too. About 30 sites are available, all with power. When it comes to relaxing,
there is a TV lounge and games room, wireless hotspot and internet kiosks
and a great covered BBQ garden with tables and outdoor lighting. To support
the local kiwifruit industry, the camp has two distinct seasons, a summer one
to cater for holiday makers and a winter one to accommodate the seasonal

Makotuku is situated between Dannevirke and Ormondville 19 kms and 7kms respectively.
The Domain is a large tree lined area with large oaks, the grandstand has great history, being the only domain grandstand left in the Tararua district.

There are not many camps with a Morris Minor graveyard at the centre! A
quirky camp in a peaceful setting, overlooking Lake Manapouri. There are
plenty of sheltered, private camp sites amongst the trees on which to pitch your tent or park your van, the sites in front have fabulous lake and mountain views. A homely central kitchen and dining area is well lit with big windows and a skylight, and there are a handy collection of utensils, pots and pans. The laundry has coin operated washers and clothes dryers, an ironing board and iron. The games room is full of pin ball machines and other electronic games are available for your entertainment. There is a classic old style childrens’ playground, and bookings for Fiordland trips and cruises can be made at the office. The camp is a departure point for Doubtful Sound cruises and there is a free pick up from the doorstep. Your lovely host is Joelle Nicholson, assisted by her two sons. Mangatutu Hot Springs is a popular camping, picnic and fishing spot, and a starting point for tramping, hunting or day walks up the Mohaka River and further into the Kaweka Forest Park. Mangatutu hot springs There are barbecues, picnic tables and toilets located in secluded clearings among the manuka surrounds, and there are access tracks descending to the Mohaka River. The main feature here is the thermal springs. Thermal water issues from a deep, undercut, steaming hole on the top terrace. The water trickles down a riverside bluff and after a short way is channelled into two pools.

Number of tent sites - 20 Camp beside one of the few remaining historic Howe truss bridges. Walks from the campsite include Little Manganuku and the Manganuku track. Good river fishing.

Mangaweka is halfway between Wellington and Taupo. Just north of the
township turn east onto Ruahine Road and travel 1 km to this great riverside camp. You will also fnd a small children’s playground and wood-fred BBQ’s. Facilities are simple and include cooking shelter with sinks and power outlets Flush toilets and hot water showers. A great spot for swimming, fshing, rafting and kayaking. Mangawhai Heads Holiday Park is right on the estuary. This camp is divided
in two by the entrance road. On the south side level sites are fairly open,
with a few trees. Up to 88 power sites and 111 tent sites. Good beachstyle
metred ablutions. A bright sunny kitchen has ceramic hobs, ovens, fridge
and plenty of bench space, but no inside dining. A good automatic laundry is
alongside. On the north side of the road is the camp office leading to a more
secluded setting, with some attractive sheltered spots for tenting and views
directly through the Heads to the ocean. Here there is an attractive play area,
a block of basic toilets and two showers that are handy. ($1 for 7 minutes)
This is a lovely coastal spot with a choice of camping amenities. The hosts here
are Richard and Noela Gunson. Power sites are $18 per adult, $8 per child
and tent sites are from $16 per adult. Seasonal rates apply.

This popular holiday resort is a holiday in itself as there is so much for both children and adults to do. A summer programme is run to keep the kids busy, and in addition to tennis, a swimming pool, and adventure play grounds, there is a large sandy beach where petanque and volleyball take place. A restaurant has a roof top caf_ overlooking the water and there are around 200 sites are available. The kitchens are good, with gas and microwave cooking and a dining patio off one, plus BBQs. There are numerous shower and toilet blocks and the big, comfortable TV and recreation room opens to an extensive deck. A large laundry, central to the camp, has auto machines, there is a dump station, and internet access is available. Your hosts are Gary, Erica and June. Unpowered sites are $34 to $40, or with power $34 to $50 for two, please note that seasonal price changes apply. Just east of Whanarua Bay is relaxed, basic camping in a tranquil inlet right by
the sea. There is a large area for camping with many pleasant grassy campsites
under the pohutukawa trees beside the beach. Drums are provided for fres
on the beach. There are no power sites here and no kitchen. A total of 12
toilets and 8 hot showers all coin operated at $1 for a shower. You are able
to hire kayaks Take aways, refreshments and some provisions are available on

The family owned Kiwi Holiday Park is situated on the southern shore of Lake Te Anau. We invite you to experience Fiordland National Park from our spacious Lakeside Holiday Park. rustic outdoor wood-fired BBQ has some nice plantings and leads into the
serviceable and well-scrubbed kitchen. The ablutions are clean and well lit.

Rustic outback camping, on the scenic west coast but not right on the beach. Travelling the sealed road from Waitomo Caves takes less than an hour, and meanders through some interesting countryside (check out the Natural Limestone Bridge, Piripiri Caves and Marakopa Falls). The camping paddock is ringed by mature trees, with towering hills behind and views to the estuary. Check in at the village shop (which has basic supplies) in the old school building at the camp entrance. This also houses the main amenities which include: a communal room with a pool table and TV, a kitchen with a covered dining/BBQ area, an automatic laundry and new ablutions block with unisex free showers (x6), toilets and basins. Another toilet block is provided at the other end of the camp. There are tennis courts free for campers use, and it is a reputed to be a fisherman's camp (complete with two wood smokers, outdoor cook-up area and fish-cleaning facilities). A great little friendly camp in vineyard country! The camp layout and new rustic-inspired amenities complex, complement the surrounding vines and village atmosphere. It is an easy walk to the numerous wineries, shops, caf_s and restaurants of the town centre and the town pool is right next door! Camp under the trees and enjoy the modern kitchen with gas BBQ, deck, lounge, laundry and shower block. Hire a bike to cruise the vineyards. There are 20 powered sites and room for about 20 tents with a dump station provided. A play area for young children has been built, and a petanque court for the Mum_s and Dads. Martins Bay Holiday Park is a picturesque, hidden gem located just one hour
north of central Auckland. Located on the water’s edge you have Kawau
Island and the sparkling Hauraki Gulf at your doorstep. Enjoy the beachfront

Here is a special little camp with welcoming, helpful hosts. Set in 20 acres of land, the _business area_ occupies an elevated platform overlooking the Kaipara harbour on both sides. A track leads you down to the beach. The sites are gently terraced with each level offering private nooks surrounded by trees, and each has its own picnic table. There are 30 neat sites (some with individual lights). First class amenities are set in a colonial style building. The kitchen/lounge and dining area are lavishly equipped and stylish with a comfortable TV area. Free gas BBQ_s are available. An on-site store provides basics. Heading north from Matamata, (about 8 km) keep an eye out for the entrance
to the Matamata Aerodrome (and camp) on your right - just north of the
Ruangaiti marae. A popular camp spot for plane-spotters, the pleasant grounds
have some shady trees and unobstructed views of the runway and ranges.
There are around 40 powered sites and abundant tent sites, with room for
large vehicles to manoeuvre. The kitchen is generously proportioned and
comes with plenty of hot points, rangettes, a microwave and lots of fridge/
freezers. A covered porch/dining area commands a great view across the
aerodrome. The ablutions are bright and clean and double as the laundry. No
animals are allowed here. Skydiving and gliding are offered - although you’ll
need to ring the camp manager, ahead of time to arrange.
Un-powered sites $13.50 per person and powered sites $15.50 per person.

The vista of Matauri Bay spreads below you as you descend along a short
but winding road. The camp is outlined with Norfolk pines running into level
campsites at the northern end of the beach. A barrier arm entry system
operates. The seven days store/office has a liquor license and sells petrol,
diesel and LPG, along with general supplies. Dive bottle fills are also available.
The amenities block has a basic kitchen with plenty of sinks, communal fridge
and a full stove, extra hobs and two microwaves. Two BBQs with outdoor
seating, or visit the fish and chips kiosk in holiday time. There are plenty of
ablutions, curtained showers open to a communal dressing space. Washing
machines and dryers are in separate rooms. Campers have card access to the
amenities. At peak season this is a very busy camp. Your hosts are Maggie
and Brian Grimwood. Peak season prices are $24 per adult (minimum $48

On SHwy 2, halfway between Gisborne and Opotiki, youll find a pleasant
campsite in the heart of the tiny town of Matawai. Look carefully for the
grassy camp area opposite the public toilets. An ideal stopover spot, there is
plenty of all-weather parking and turning space for large vehicles, boaties and
horse floats in the sealed yard beside the camp. The camping area enjoys
lovely rural views and has trees on the perimeter and a creek at the rear. The
smart amenities include a small homely kitchen with stove, fridge and rustic
built-in timber table and seats, plus a couch and a covered verandah. Across
the road are a country pub, squash and tennis courts. Explore the Waioeka
Gorge from here or take the old narrow coach road (Motu Road) to Opotiki.
Trout fishing and mountain biking are also popular activities in this area. Your
friendly hosts, ask you to book in advance. Tent sites are $15 per

Number of tent sites - 60 This very scenic campsite is set among mountains, beech forest and grasslands at the south end of Mavora Lake. Look out for robins and falcons. Walk, tramp, mountainbike or go trout fishing for brown and rainbow trout.

Mawley Park, at the northern end of Masterton, occupies an attractive location
on the banks of the Waipoua River (with good swimming holes). The 15 acre,
sheltered grounds are tidy with large trees and plenty of space for the 200
or so tent sites and 54 powered sites. A BBQ shelter has cooking facillities.
The camping areas are grouped in separate sections with sealed road access
and brand new unisex individual ablutions serving each area (these include
disabled access facilities). The park has had a major refurbishment with a lot
of thought been put into what makes a place nice. There’s a large dining hall
with highchairs, a TV and a separate comfortable and modern TV lounge. The
kitchen has gas hobs and is very modern and well equipped. A supermarket
is nearby and QE11 Park is across the road for the kids, whilst there are also a
few small pieces of play equipment to keep the kids amused onsite. A DVD
Library and local information is available at the office. Free washing machines
