Over the hill from Maketu, this estuary-ringed camp has large, open, level sites bordered by water on two sides. The estuary provides a scenic backdrop, as well as safe swimming and launching for small boats. There is a shop that sells the basics and takeaway meals. Campers have access to two kitchens with stoves, microwave and fridges. There are two automatic laundry facilities and two sets of ablutions - with metered showers. There are 100 powered sites and 45 tents sites - well suited for fishing enthusiasts or, surfies or divers Your friendly hosts are Ian and Bubs Foden. Tent sites are from $10 - $15 per person. From manicured tranquil bush-clad grounds, this park’s outlook over the
serene Blue Lake is magnifcent. A 10 minutes drive from Rotorua, the park
rises gently up a terraced valley behind the offce/store entrance and just
across the road from a gorgeous white sandy beach. The 160 or so sites are
hedged or sheltered by native trees, and the park is criss-crossed with paths
and paved roadways for easy access. The whole 14 acre complex has a well
cared for appearance and is serviced by three kitchens, one being quite new,
roomy free showers, and modern toilet blocks and laundries. A disabled access
suite is provided and there’s a spa pool too. Enjoy your meals in the communal
dining room or cook in the covered BBQ garden. The two playgrounds have
trampolines, plus towards the rear of the camp is a recreation room with TV
and internet, with another separate TV lounge. A dump point, internet access and payphone are available, and if you tire of the scenery, hire canoes, kayaks

Down a gravel road south of Opotiki, you can camp surrounded by nikau palms
and tawa forest next to the Te Waiti Stream. This relaxed, self-registration campsite
is in picturesque surroundings and it is popular for fishing and swimming. Facilities
include toilets, picnic tables, BBQ areas and water supply from the stream. With
room for about 16 tents, no fees for camping here.

Bowentown Beach Holiday Park lies at the southern end of Waihi Beach. Four
beaches within walking distance offer a choice of surf or sheltered harbour
swimming. The camp provides lots of extras: stock up at the mini-market,
soak in the 6-seater spa or stay in touch via Skype, wireless internet hotspot,
or email kiosks. For families there are kayaks and fun bikes for hire. Sites
are spread across three, well-drained sandy terraces, some with great sea
views out to Mayor Island. A few permanent ‘weekenders’ add to the charm
of this holiday spot. The central, well-equipped amenities are spacious and
immaculately clean. The ablutions offer metered unisex showers, as well as

in a line to the rear of the Motor Lodge. The Rangitikei River is nearby, with
plenty of sites for tents. The kitchen is pleasant with a TV lounge and the
ablutions have excellent showers. The large laundry has an auto washer and
drier and a dump point is provided. Relax in the spa or swimming pool
or venture to the river for a swim or a fish. The country setting is a little
overwhelmed by the adjacent highway and nearby Ohakea Airbase. Pets are

Broken Hills campground Camp beside the Tairua River and explore the old gold mining area around the steep cliffs. The Broken Hills Campsite near the end of Puketui Valley Rd is located beside the Tairua River amongst native bush. The camp operates on a first come, first served basis. It has toilets and a rubbish collection area, but no piped water. Water taken directly from the river or streams should be boiled or treated before drinking to reduce the risk of infection. A camp manager regularly visits the site during summer to check on camping, clean facilities and collect fees. An honesty box system operates at other times. Please be considerate to other campers and keep noise levels down. Camping outside designated areas is not permitted.

From the Cameron carpark you can walk to Kuripapaango Trig or Cameron Hut. Tramps to Kiwi Saddle, Kaweka Range, Kiwi Mouth Hut and Back Ridge are also available.
The route from the Cameron Carpark to the Cameron Hut follows the Ngaruroro River. It begins just upriver from the water gauge. As at least 30 fordings are necessary it can only be negotiated when the Ngaruroro River is not in flood.

Watch the motorway traffic jams and city lights from this hillside vantage point!
Turn off the main highway heading north into Porirua and follow the blue
TransitNZ camp signs. The camp sits on a sunny plateau overlooking Porirua
harbour. There are two camping areas with views and a bush backdrop that
provides walks and native birdlife. Portacom ablution units for male and
female are clean and well placed, but with a central changing area. There are a tidy and well-equipped kitchen building with an outdoor dining area (great views!), two toilets, dump station and an automatic laundry.
Only 18 kms to the Interisland ferries.
There are twenty campervan sites, 10 powered and 10 non-powered and 15 grassed tent sites.

This holiday park has closed.
Backing onto the famed Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park and
with the town domain on the other boundary, this small, neat camp is a great
holiday spot. Shaded by mature trees and offering a number of hard stands for campervans, you can hear kiwi call at night and view glow worms in the
bush nearby. The facilities block includes a well-appointed kitchen with clean
ablutions, hot shower and a laundry with washing machine and tumble dryer
($2 coins). There are 14 powered sites. This camp ground is cared for (apart
from cleaning) by volunteers who are very hospitable and welcoming. All
profits from this camp go to the Otorohanga Kiwi House, a Not-for-Profit
conservation and wildlife centre taking care of Kiwis, native birds and reptiles
adjacent to the camp. Powered sites for camper vans cost $14 per adult per
night and $7 for children per night (plus a $7 daily power surcharge per site);

camp is 10 minutes drive away on coastal farmland. There is no power in

Clifton Beach Reserve Motor Camp is right at the gateway to the gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers, this beachfront camp is a popular spot with fisherfolk and surf lovers. A long narrow camp spread out along the seafront, where you can park up and enjoy the spectacular sea vistas. Situated at the roadend, entry is a barrier arm and there is a casual parking fee for daytrippers. With 155 mainly powered sites, and many permanent setups. There is an extension camp on the road before the office to cater for the busy season. The large kitchens have two stoves plus hotplates. Two blocks of ablutions offer free showers (hot water is turned off during the day in busy season). The automatic laundry equipment is plentiful. A dump station, outdoor showers, plenty of taps and rubbish bins are provided. The on-site shop has basic supplies and almost opposite is a very popular cafe, restaurant and bar. Drive to this camping area under a canopy of trees. The Camping Ground
is set in a tranquil hollow surrounded by native bush and exotic trees. We
have a deer enclosure, duck pond and bird aviaries. There is a indoor heated
pool which is a two minute stroll through the bush. Town centre, shops and

Enjoy your two favourite pastimes at this rural golf club complete with campsite, just 2km south of Dannevirke. Tucked away at the rear of the club carpark is a bush-ringed grassy camping area with 9 power points and some room for tents. You're well out of the way of any errant golf balls and guests do not need to be golfers. Campers have the use of the club facilities, including bar and food at certain times; but the kitchen is not available for guests to use. In addition to the club locker rooms, extra unisex showers and toilets are available 24/7. The gate is locked at 9. 30 pm and Armourguard patrol the grounds twice each night.

You also have the club house bar usually open in the late afternoons on competition days (Friday Saturday Sunday), and in the summer on Thursday nights for twilight golfers when you can also get a meal for about $10.

This comfortable camp is in the centre of town, just off the main street and
a very short walk to the adjacent shops and restaurants. There is a camp
kitchen with stove, sink, microwave, and all necessary pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. Some powered sites have private en-suites if required ($20 per adult) or there are spotless disabled friendly shower rooms with basin and toilet. Approximately 10 km southwest of Waihi, at the end of Dickey’s Flat Road (off Kennedy Road), lies this basic campsite. Access is unsealed and the large campsite is beside the Waitawheta River known for its trout and some great swimming holes downstream. Walking tracks lead to some of the best fishing spots on the river. Facilities include toilet and water supply from the stream. There is a year-round liquor ban at the campsite.

Only one kilometre south of the SH47 and SH48 intersection, this accommodation complex offers ten acres of parklike grounds for your camping pleasure. The closest accommodation and shuttle bus service to the Mangatepopo start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, it boasts a spectacular panorama of all three Tongariro volcanoes. In the communal area beside the camping sites, are a well equipped kitchen and a large dining area, as well as a laundry, drying room, and free showers. On the upper level is a licensed restaurant and lounge bar flowing through to a large outdoor mountain viewing deck. 15 km east from the junction at Te Araroa, down a partly sealed and gravel road, is an open rolling paddock on a rise beside the ocean. A bit of a slope for tenters. This is the best of back blocks camping, enjoying the sound of crashing waves. A long drop toilet is onsite and a small alcove with an honesty box. A great stopover for those in their self contained campers wishing to be close to the lighthouse (5km away) there is no power here.

A lovely rustic campsite with a “backblocks” flavour. Situated on the banks of the Makakahi Stream, where there are plenty of eels and trout. It offers lots of pleasantly private campsites amongst masses of pine and gum trees. Choose between tranquil shady or sunny sites. Covered outdoor dining has recently been added to the basic amenities block. The small toilet and shower units are clean and well-looked after and the small kitchen has a selection of pots, plates and cutlery.
Homely touches are found in the bathrooms and kitchen with fresh free range eggs when the chooks are laying and free tea and coffee. A dump station is around the corner at the Eketahuna Club. Recyling is available on site. A new disabled access suite will be ready shortly.
