Set amongst remains of timber milling, kauri logging and whaling history, The Green is the smallest DOC campground on the . North of here is the entry to the track network and Forest Road (closed to vehicles), with foot access to the hot springs and Port Fitzroy to the north. Nearby Whangaparapara has a wharf and small community. The harbour and coastline are good for fishing and kayaking.

Whangapoua Village is situated on the east coat of the Coromandel Peninsula, just 25 minutes drive over from the township of Coromandel and shares the same beautiful coastline as Matarangi, Whitianga, Opito bay, Kuaotunu and New Chums Beaches. The drive from Auckland is just 2 1/2 hours.

Number of tent sites - 70 Surrounded by a mix of farmland, holiday homes and sand dunes, the campsite is sheltered and overlooks a tidal stream. The estuary is safe for swimming and the beautiful beach is popular for surfing. Vehicle access to launch boats for fishing. There is a shop and cafe approximately 4km north, and another shop and cafe approximately 6km to the south of the campsite.

Great Barrier is the largest island off the North Island coast. More than 60% of the island is public land administered by the Department of Conservation. There are a range of short walking tracks and longer routes, several campsites, a hut, mountain bike routes, and many natural and historic features to explore. About 850 people live on the island, and there are a number of small settlements with shops and accommodation.

Established in 1922 as an army camp on a 200ha private farm, this beachfront campground is situated on the southern part of beautiful Kaitoke Beach, close to the Mermaid pool. The grounds are covered with large trees, providing
3 private areas to camp. The water supply is sourced from an underground
spring, Rubbish collection, long drop toilets and 2 outside cold showers are
provided but no kitchen (just washing-up facilities). Your host is Christina and
camping costs $12 per adult per night and $6 per child (5 to 13 yrs).

Situated beside a sandy beach with spectacular views across Manukau Harbour to the Auckland city skyline, this quiet family camp is just over an hour_s drive from Auckland airport, on the northern shore of Awhitu Peninsula. Campsites are close to amenities which include an immaculate kitchen with 2 stoves, plenty of small appliances, fridge and freezer, along with some helpful utensils. The adjoining laundry has washing machine, dryer and just ask if you need an iron. The spotlessly clean ablutions have toilets for each gender, plus metered unisex showers and a huge disabled access/family suite. A baby_s bath is provided in the _Ladies_ with a cot and highchair available on request. A function room has a BBQ and some sociable indoor space for campers. A small shop for the _basics_ is open nearby in peak summer or there is a 7-day general store 10 minutes drive away. All sites have power, water and grey water disposal. An hour's drive east of Auckland airport is this relaxed and well-equipped camp, set in pleasant surroundings with a sparkling river alongside that boasts a large swimming hole and sheltered beach close by. In the attractively-planted grounds you can either find a remote spot or be sociable. The camp is split into two levels, on one level are 110 powered sites, some with permanent weekenders in residence. A central kitchen serves both levels and you can dine indoors or outside in the paved BBQ garden. A porch provides another washing-up area with hot water, fridge and a filtered drinking-water tap. There are several ablutions blocks with generous shower cubicles (metered) with shelves and dry space, hand driers are also available. From tots to teens there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to keep them happy all holiday long. Boaties can store their craft here or you can take a kayak out for a paddle. The local general store is beside the camp entrance and the library is opposite. An automatic laundry, internet facilities and dump point are provided. Power sites $48 per double, $11.50 child.
