Right in the heart of Waitomo Village, very close to the caves, this park offers amphitheatre-style camping across a series of large sunny terraces. A bar and cafe/restaurant is on-site, with the main village amenities just across the road. The central, modern, facilities block enjoys a pleasant rural valley outlook with kitchen/dining/TV room opening out to a shady BBQ terrace. Immaculate ablutions include a disabled access/family suite. Extras include an internet room and wireless hotspot, SKY TV, reading room, trampoline, a superb swimming pool (with hot tub) and a bright new playground. You can see all this without leaving home, on the park virtual tour website. As well as the world-famous caves, there are bushwalks and other scenic tourist attractions nearby. Your hosts, Julie and Bruce Tobeck, can assist you in booking these. An automatic laundry and dump point are provided. All sites cost from $22 per adult.

DESCRIPTION:

Really get away from it all at the Waingaro Hot Springs and camp, 24 km west
of Ngaruawahia next to the Waingaro Hotel. Camp on 40 powered sites set
on pleasant sunny terraces (divided by bush and shrubbery) above the pools.
The amenities are small, with a functional kitchen and a communal room with
kitchenette. The well-used ablutions are in three blocks and extra toilets
are handily placed about the grounds. Two automatic laundries and a dump
station are provided. There are plenty of BBQs, picnic tables and children’s
play areas about the grounds. Although the camp store at the entrance has
limited supplies, we advise campers to stock-up in advance. Please do not
bring dogs here. Your hosts are Chood and Amro Singh. All sites are from
$22 per adult and under 12 years $12.50.

DESCRIPTION:

In a quiet rural location while still being handy to town, the grounds offer
plenty of shady trees and nicely maintained grounds. Unfortunately permanent
residents are still a large part of this campground, but the facilities are all well
maintained, clean and tidy. There are 15 casual powered sites available and
plenty of room for tents. An amenities block with basic kitchen, ablutions,
laundry and a dump station are provided. Pets are welcome here and internet
is available in the camp office. Your hosts are Emo and Manu. All sites $20 for
two people.

DESCRIPTION:

With the northern Kaimai Ranges and Mount Te Aroha dominating the skyline
to the east, head south along the road to Matamata from Te Aroha. You’ll
spot the entrance flags of the holiday park not far out of town on your left.
Amongst mature oak trees. this park features hanging bridges, treehuts, giant
swings and the longest flying fox in New Zealand’s holiday park. Bush-clad
hills rise above you in the distance and the grounds are dotted with stately
old oak trees. A deep artesian spring supplies the camp with mineral water
and feeds the ‘rock pool’ thermal bath available free to campers. Enjoy the
grass tennis court, swimming pool and BBQs. In a quiet setting, the camp
is enclosed by farmland with provision for grazing if you are travelling with
equine companions. Amenities include, a serviceable kitchen with stove,
electric hobs, microwave and fridge/freezer; bright, tidy ablutions and a basic
automatic laundry and a dump station. There is a games and TV room, with
free wireless internet. Your hosts, Anna and Leon, can help you with bookings
for local attractions. German and Japanese are spoken here.

DESCRIPTION:

Between Raglan and Kawhia (approximately 25 km south of Raglan on the
gravel coast road), Ruapuke offers rural camping in a streamside setting.
Alternatively turn into Te Mata Road from the SH23 and travel for approx 20
km (only last 5km gravel road) Over the hill is a beach popular for fishing and
surfing. There are 60 sites available, 10 with power. The fisherman’s kitchen
has a full stove, plus hotplates and fridge/freezers. There are hot-water
showers in the rustic ablutions and a free auto washer and dryer.

Within easy reach of Auckland and Hamilton, turn off SHwy 1 at Pokeno and head for the coast. The scenic road follows alongside the Waikato River, finishing at Sunset Beach - which is popular for surfing. The camp is tucked in against the hills with level sites that are neatly mown, some amongst groups of trees. The location is sheltered, with easy access to the sand dunes and beach. A congenial BBQ area under the trees offers pleasant outdoor dining, or there is a fully equipped kitchen with TV, fridge/freezer, cookware, crockery and cutlery. Other amenities include ablutions with roomy, metered showers with a second block of toilets available. A large family room has Sky TV and a huge deck, plus there_s a playground, jumping pillow, internet access, fun bikes for hire to keep the kids entertained. This easy-to-spot, stylish, modern cafe and motorhome park offers a pleasant
stopover on SHwy 39 - between Otorohanga and Ngaruawahia. Designed
with the larger motorhome in mind, the 8 spacious powered sites, on gravel
hardstand, have their own entrance to the rear of the cafÉ complex. There
are great views of Mount Pirongia from the landscaped grounds. The facilities
include 3 modern bathroom suites, a laundry and dump station. There’s no
kitchen but the Persimmon Tree Cafe is open 7 days a week from 9-4.30 pm) so there’s no
danger of going hungry! Camping costs $6 per person per night (this will change on the 1st September 2019 to $6.50) , children
5-12yrs are $4 and under 5 yrs free. Your hosts are Jocelyn and Rosie.
