Situated at the northern end of Tauranga Harbour, Athenree Hot Springs Park has picturesque grounds, with mature trees in a superb waterfront location. Thermal water from a deep bore feeds a sparkling swimming pool and soak pool, both set at comfortable temperatures and available free to campers. There are two smart amenity buildings and a modern kitchen with microwave, conventional cooking appliances and refrigeration. A pleasant communal BBQ area with water views is annexed off the kitchen. You can get your supplies at the camp store/office and enjoy the holiday entertainment on offer. about 10 tents. Your friendly host, renamed “ the Mexican Maori,” is Joshua
Kauta who lives in the house up the steep drive above the campsite. Joshua
will sing and entertain you if you ask him. All sites are from $5 per person.

Take the southern approach to Katikati, Turn west into Wharawhara Road
about 300m south of the Katikati boundary and head 1.5km inland If it’s a
clothes-free camping experience you are after, this is your place in the sun!
Eight acres of rolling grounds have been lovingly landscaped and designed with the outdoor lifestyle in mind. With 51 powered sites, you can camp near
the boundary stream, or close to the bush. Recreation time has been well
catered for, with a big outdoor chess and draughts board, miniputt, volleyball,
Frisbee, golf and petanque for when the sun is shining, or when it’s not - head
to the recreation hall for a game of pool or your favourite TV programme. At
the heart of the park is a lovely free-form swimming pool and sauna room,
with an adjacent spa pools set under a leafy, roofed deck. The amenities
include a spacious kitchen with full stove, microwave, gas rings, fridge/freezer
and dining space. You can choose between unisex communal showers or a
separate private bathroom suite (which also has disabled access). An internet
kiosk and wireless hotspot are available. There is an automatic laundry. Your

A family owned holiday park set in 32 hectares of beautiful native forest at the foot of the Kaimai Ranges. A haven in the bush bordered by a sparkling stream and complimented by warm thermal swimming pools, all of which are included with your stay. The camping area at the front of the complex has 67 powered sites and a large open field for non-powered camping. The camp kitchen offers the usual appliances and plenty of fridge/freezer space. An automatic laundry annex houses the washing machines and dryers. The main ablutions have been recently redecorated and are tidy with good bench space. There is a second ablution block available near the non-powered field. The recently new owners are continually upgrading the property. An immaculately groomed ‘garden-park’ set in a predominantly rural area, 19 km north of Tauranga. There are 40 powered sites and another 15 for tents,
all set amongst grounds lush with colourful flower beds and trees. The main
attractions are the 3 natural thermal pools to soak in. The offce offers a
mini-market for any basics you need when making use of the gleaming kitchen.
There are plenty of frst-class appliances including microwave, fridges and
freezer and room to dine under a huge covered patio/BBQ area that has
views to the nearby ranges. Excellent ablutions have timed showers and
a disabled access suite. There’s an adventure playground, pool room and a
‘comfy-cushion’ style TV room and camp library. Bruce and Sharon Addison
will accept pets by arrangement. All sites are from $20 per adult.

Between Opotiki and Motu at the junction of the Whitikau and Takaputahi
Streams is this basic remote campsite. Located at the entrance to Raukumara
Conservation Park it is a base for walks, fly fshing, mountain biking and hunting.
With space for around 16 tents, facilities include toilets, BBQ areas and water
supply from the stream.

Just over the Hairini Bridge in a central city location is this manicured camp.
A convenient base for the local attractions, you can camp in a peaceful spot
beside the waters of the inner harbour. There are 60 powered sites and 9
non-powered. If your home is on wheels there are fully-serviced winteringover sites (bookings necessary) and 10m plus sites suited to large vehicles.
The smart kitchen is compact, with gas hobs and microwave cooking. The
ablutions are clean, with free hot water showers. An automatic laundry and dump station are provided. Enjoy the library. Your hosts are Kerri and
