At the southern end of the town shops, look for the ‘Beach Access’ sign and
drive down a short, bumpy, gravel access road to this lovely beach reserve. In
a lovely setting between the sea and the lagoon, on slightly undulating land, is
this popular campground offering a very relaxed style of camping. There are 80
non powered sites, the wringer-plus-tub outdoor laundries are an adventure in
themselves.

destinations and in a prime location at the base of the Mount, lies this attractive
park complex. Hot salt-water pools are right at the entrance, ocean or
harbour water activities surround you and it’s a short stroll back from the
main beachfront boutique and cafÉ/bar precinct. Campers can choose from 3
separate terraced camping areas, each with its own spectacular views. Watch
the cruise ships enter the Port, kids playing on the white sandy surf beach or
soak up the soothing Bay of Plenty ocean views. The fully-modernised facilities
are superb and provide everything a camper needs, including a dump station
and thoughtful amenities for those camping with disabilities. In the popular
‘Ocean’ camp area, the new facilities block boasts a super-modern kitchen and
outdoor dining/BBQ area with sea views. Mark and the team will help you
relax and enjoy all the activities of the area. A minimum site charge applies:
$37 off-peak (for 1 to 2 adults) and bookings are essential in peak season.

At the northern end of Waihi Beach is this large, immaculately-kept park, that offers a variety of interesting sites grouped into individual camping areas. The barrier arm entry ensures camp security and lots of mature trees, mainly pohutukawa, enhance the grounds. Choose from 70 powered sites, either in the main camp area at road level, or on the water_s edge across the road. A pretty stream divides the camp and you can feed the pet eels from the quaint footbridges. Plenty of smart ablutions and toilet blocks can be found throughout. Enjoy a modern central facilities block, with state-of-the-art fit-out in the caf_-style kitchen/dining area, ablutions and recreation areas. Everything has been thought of, with Sky TV lounge (huge screen!), gymnasium and sauna and a superb family room/nursery that is well-equipped with wet-day entertainment for the littlies. Even the superb laundry has had the treatment - with comfy seats and reading material provided. This attractive communal building spills out onto a landscaped dining/BBQ patio and pool area. Mountain bikes and surf boards may be hired. Aside from the nearby beach, the kids have a games room and great playground equipment, including jumping pillows, to enjoy. Park. Used as an extension camp in the busy mid-December to end of
January period, it otherwise operates as a conference centre and wedding
venue for small to medium-sized groups. Check-in at the Ohope Beach Top
10 main offce. The central amenities block is divided by a pleasant breezeway.
There’s plenty of ‘everything you need’ in the kitchen and the laundry and the
ablutions are superb , all colour-coordinated with extra unisex showers (on
timers) and three disabled access suites.

We are not 5 star resort style camping but our facilities are always clean and tidy. We're proud of our history and our Trip Advisor reviews are testament to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere within the park.
With the Dunes section of the Motu Trails right in front of the camp you can either choose to relax or go for a safe walk, jog or cycle and explore the coastline. Visit the Opotiki township where supplies and a good coffee are only a few minutes away. Alternatively, for the necessities and fresh fish and chips the Tirohanga Beach Store is right next door!
We are also a pet friendly camp all year round. To accommodate pets, we have a designated area and its own beach access.

With a broad stretch of white sandy beach at your doorstep, this park has a superb location and stunning facilities. The surf club, beach reserve and village shopping with restaurant and takeaways, are all within an easy walk. The terrain is slightly banked back from the beach, with well-drained, terraced campsites. There are 260 sites in all, 240 with power. Smart kitchens offer wall ovens and microwave cooking, fridge and deep freezers. Three ablution blocks have free showers, a spectacular baby_s bathroom complete with _playful seal_ bath, new disabled access and family suites and a series of well-equipped laundries. The thoughtful layout means these facilities are easily accessible from all areas of the camp. To help keep the family entertained there is a private spa pool, BBQ area, adventure playground with jumping pillow and mini tennis, along with surf boards, fishing gear and funbikes for hire. As this is a popular summer camp, you should book from Christmas through to February. Your hosts are Bruce, Donna & Rebecca Crosby and their team. Approximately 10 km southwest of Waihi, at the end of Dickey’s Flat Road (off Kennedy Road), lies this basic campsite. Access is unsealed and the large campsite is beside the Waitawheta River known for its trout and some great swimming holes downstream. Walking tracks lead to some of the best fishing spots on the river. Facilities include toilet and water supply from the stream. There is a year-round liquor ban at the campsite.
