Rustic outback camping, on the scenic west coast but not right on the beach. Travelling the sealed road from Waitomo Caves takes less than an hour, and meanders through some interesting countryside (check out the Natural Limestone Bridge, Piripiri Caves and Marakopa Falls). The camping paddock is ringed by mature trees, with towering hills behind and views to the estuary. Check in at the village shop (which has basic supplies) in the old school building at the camp entrance. This also houses the main amenities which include: a communal room with a pool table and TV, a kitchen with a covered dining/BBQ area, an automatic laundry and new ablutions block with unisex free showers (x6), toilets and basins. Another toilet block is provided at the other end of the camp. There are tennis courts free for campers use, and it is a reputed to be a fisherman's camp (complete with two wood smokers, outdoor cook-up area and fish-cleaning facilities). Your cellphone will likely be out of range, vodafone and free wi fi hot spot is outside the shop. Fill-up before you head away to this camp as there is nowhere to refuel here.
